  1. I had done a SMART test a few weeks ago and it was fine, so it had to have happened recently. It is 1 pending sector, not 1 sector pending reallocation (or are these the same thing?). There are no reallocated sectors though, which is weird because I'd figure it wouldn't take long to reallocate the pending sector, but it's been like this since I checked hours ago.
  2. Looks like the BIOSTAR TA785G3HD from several of these builds has been deactivated on the Newegg site.
  3. I'd like some more info on the iStarUSA 5-in-3 setups like lensman has provided.
  4. I had read about the F4 drives being slow if they are not aligned. Mine is aligned (on XP system) and is very fast, faster than my 7200rpm drives. I believe the JP1 just refers to F4 drives shipped to the Japanese market, and according to a response by Samsung the new patch can be used on non-JP1 drives. I'm just worried that applying the patch on a drive with data could lose the data, and I don't have another drive to move the existing data to.
  5. I've got one of the early drives from August, no way to know if I've had corruption though. This is on my main PC on XP. I disabled write caching though. I just noticed that on my 1.5TB Samsung drive there is 1 pending write to the drive. Yay
  6. I've been using a 1.5TB Samsung drive since July, and also a Samsung F4 2TB drive since August without issues. This is not in an unRAID server, just my main PC. It is unpatched, and I am annoyed that Samsung would provide a new firmware patch that has the same version number as the "bad" firmware. I don't know why anyone would do such a thing. The 2TB is aligned, and it is FAST, as is the 1.5TB drive, just not as fast. I'm hoping that the Hitachi Green drives are without problems, but the F4 2TB drives were THE drive to have before it took a few months to discover the silent corruption issue. I wish a drive maker could produce a 2TB drive that just plain works.
