Yes. I'm not sure there's a good way to run the OpenVPN client directly on unraid. I would like to be corrected if that's not true. Can your router run OpenVPN? Sadly not. My last router could but its processor was too slow and it ended up killing the bandwidth. Thing is, I want non-VPN connections for online gaming as going through the VPN can cause occasional lag.

Hi. I'm running unRAID 6 on my HP microserver with a number of docker apps. What I'd like to do is connect the server to a VPN (Private Internet Access) and also have web traffic from other computers at home routed through it. Could anybody help me with how to set this up?

Well it didn't crash last night so I guess it was the mover service causing the problem. Like you said, it shouldn't move open files and shouldn't cause a host crash so still some mystery there.

Thought I'd done that already as that was my first thought but it turns out I didn't. I've set it to only use the cache disk and excluded using the other disks in the array. Let's see what happens overnight.

Agreed 4GB isn't ideal but I've only given it 512MB and it actually runs OK. Is that likely to be the cause of the whole unRAID system hanging? Shouldn't the VM be kept separate from the host OS?

Hi, I'm running unRAID v6 on an HP Microserver G8 with 4GB RAM. I recently added a Windows 7 VM as I want to run some windows only apps but I found that every morning I was coming in to find that unRAID was completely hung. I have to hit the power button to reset the system as the webGUI is unresponsive, I can't log in via SSH and the local console hangs before even asking for my password. As the syslog is refreshed when the server restarts, I can't get any useful information from that but when I restart the Windows VM the Windows event logger shows an "Windows was not properly shutdown" at some time shortly after 3am each day. Interesting. So you were passing through the tuner by clicking the check box for it on the VM page, right? Yep. As far as I could see the VM wasn't starting properly either. James

I just had a frustrating day of troubleshooting with this but I think I've found the culprit. I was getting a freeze only seconds after connecting to the GUI. I removed a USB TV Tuner that was being passed through to an Ubuntu VM. After removing the tuner and disabling VMs it all is working again. Hope this helps someone. James

Hi, I had a data drive come up with a red x on my system while I was away. The parity drive kept everything working so I thought I'd remove it from the array, then put it back in and allow unraid to rebuild it. However, the web gui now stops responding as soon as I click on any tab - the browser is just stuck at "connecting..." ssh access is still OK so I can stop samba and unmount the remaining two disks to allow a clean reboot but that leaves me back where I started. I can access my Samba shares and my docker instances. The only thing that is broken is my ubuntu vm. I suspect that may be the cause of the problem so if there's a way to remove that or stop it attempting to start at boot then that would be a good starting point. Help! I don't want to lose my data. I've got a spare 2GB DIMM which I'll stick in there and see if that sorts it. I'll report back with results. As an aside - the error message could be more helpful!
