  1. Bulls Eye NSB! Yup your story sounds like mine. But i was stressing because i had all my data on a 2 year old drive. Ya i know they say 3 years. But i had another NAS that failed on me with two drives failing at the same time. I was lucky to get it back. But UnRaid has made this process easy and I'm learning allot in the process. Once i get my 2nd server up. I will have a program backup the important data to another location and maybe this time run Unraid as a ESX just for a backup for the backup. lol I just have to find a easier way to create Time Machine backups. I though i had it. But I'm trying to get 3 imac to back up in one folder. And it really slow creating time machine backups. I seen the page on here of grabbing the UUID. But do i have to do that for each imac with different UUID. Hope there's a better way soon. Or just mount the external hard drive that attached to the imac. And backup the file from there. Can wait until snapshot is add to unraid also. Cant wait to see whats next or upgrades are in-store for UnRaid.
  2. There could be a plugin already that does this. But is there a feature that will let me monitor all the data that is active or being accessed. So I can see who accessing what folder and when on the network. And keep track of the bandwidth that being used when there transferring data. Thank you,
  3. UnRaid is just a amazing to work with. It just flows. The help online and in these forums if worth the money I paid for it. Again I'm learning so much but I'm seeing results at the same time. Just have to get this OpenVpn down. I been watching youtube vid. But new to the DNS world. Think I'm going to learn about pfSense. To make it more secure. Keep up the good work and everyone who make plugin and docker. Thank you
  4. Hmm very interesting... I didn't know that was a SMB limitation. Well time to find a work around for this problem. The adventure awaits. I know there has to be a way. I'v done it on another product but forgot the protocol i used. . But i will just get this backup setup and then work on that project later. I didn't name the shares Disk1, Disk2.. I just want to use that as a example. To explain my issue. Thank you again for your help.
  5. Ya i tried that too. Only only use private. Because i do not want any guest accounts having access to the files.
  6. Hello Everyone, So far I'm loving UnRaid. Its a long story how i got here. But I'm glad I'm here now. I need assistance on how to fix my permission to multiple folders. I know it might be not the norm but it cleaner in my eyes when i do this. Ok Say i have two users. "Dog 1 and Dog 2" I created a share called Disk 1 and Disk 2. And a Share called "Movies" For Dog1 i create i folder called Home in Disk 1. It has all his personal folders and doc in there. When he's logs into Dog 1. For Dog 2- He has a Home folder in Disk 2 and pics and personal doc ect. Exp: Disk 1:Dog 1 Home:--- --Pic --Docs --Movies<--- Alias File ( Same movie folder) Disk 2:Dog 2 Home:--- --Dog Pic --Docs for food --Movies<---- Alias File ( Same movie folder) Movie Folder - I have one main Movie folder that has all the movies on Disk 3. When i give them permission to access the Movie folder it showed up below the Disk1 & Disk2 folders on both Dog 1 and Dog 2. What i did to fix it was create a Alias file of the movies folder and drag them to a new Home folder i created in Dog 1 and Dog 2. The choose Yes:Hidden on the Main Movies folder in Disk 3. Now they both see the movies folder in there home folders. And the movies file are coming from one main folder. My issue is that when either Dog1 or Dog2 login into their profile they both see Disk 1 and Disk 2 folders. (Mac) Even thou they can't access each other folders. They still can see it there. How can i make it so they don't see each other Home folders. Exp: Disk1 and Disk 2 SMB Security Settings: Yes - if i choose hidden on Disk 1, then Dog 1 can't see the folder even thou it was already connected. Thank you again for every help on this forum. Try to read as much as i can.

  8. Is lime-technology still going to build Complete Servers?
  9. Ok, this is exciting. I’m new to the world of media servers and the high capacity backups options. But all this info is over whelming too when you want to start but don’t want to buy the wrong setup. I’m still reading but need some quick help. I use Mac’s(GUI) so im not that knowledgeable in linux. 1. Want to have a media server (pc) to handle pushing the stream thru the house. 2. I will have another (pc) to push the streams thru the house. 3. Need a backup server to handle all pc and mac in the house. Questions: Could I use say a 4-6 bay 2tb drive setup to backup the media server using unraid? Questions: Could I also use the same unraid server to backup a time machine backup from all my mac systems. Questions: And if I understand the unRaid is really used and can be used for the main backup for my hole house setup. Just have all the backup files going to this unraid drive and it will take care of the rest? Questions: Also what are the negative of me doing it this way? Questions: I read something in a FAq thread that there a speed issue with unraid. Is there something I need to know. Back to reading. Thanks for the help and a jump start to setting all this up.
