Awesome software - used it for a long time and really appreciate it. Lately my CrashPlan is barfing (in the UI) about the inotify limit needing to be raised. As a result, it says that realtime file monitoring is not working. Is there a config parameter and recommended value to change inotify? Thanks

Let me know if this is not the right forum section please.... Got a new server that is bigger iron than what I had but at least I can rack mount it now... It came with SCSI drives which I sadly had to remove because I did not want to lose my nice UnRAID environment, so I removed them and put all of my SATA drives from my UnRAID server in it. Upon boot up, I discovered it was a RAID controller (I should have known) and it does see all of my SATA drives just fine, but the controller will not pass on the SATA drives "as is" so UnRAID can manage them. It wants me to create an array and a virtual drive, which I am pretty sure will wipe out everything on those drives... The controller is an LSI Logic / Symbios Logic MegaRAID SAS 2108 [Liberator] Rev 05. Anybody have any advice for getting out of this pickle? I am going to see what the integrated SATA controller has for connections whether it uses the same backplane as the RAID controller... Thanks

I have always run my Unraid server headless other than the first time I set it up eons ago. I have a video card in it as reported by the system: VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation G92 [GeForce GT 230 OEM] (rev a2) And I am looking to get a rack monitor and KVM setup. This box is pretty much the only one I would need VGA for, so if I can avoid it I would like to. The video card has HDMI, DVI, and VGA outputs. When I connected the HDMI to a monitor, I got nothing but colorful squares on the screen with hieroglyphics on them. Should I be able to use the HDMI output as my console output? Any idea what I am doing wrong? I have a parity operation going on right now but when that is done, I plan on visiting the BIOS settings to see if there is a video output priority setting too. I have been getting errors on the parity disk so I ordered a new one and am preparing to replace it. In the meantime, I have 3 drives that I cleared the data from that I wanted to remove from the array because I no longer needed the capacity, one of them was pretty old and gathering errors, and did not need the extra heat being thrown around... So today I decided to finally logically remove those 3 drives, and I wanted to do one at a time, so I spun down the array, set Disk 2 to not assigned, then spun up the array (checked the warning about disk 2 not being there). The web server went away and I have not been able to get it back up since! I cannot ssh to it either. Restarting the box did not help. Previously when this happened (unresponsive) it was due to a network configuration error because I did not have Pi-Hole configured right, but I checked network.cfg (powered down, moved the USB drive to another computer to check it) and it just has it set to use DHCP so that is not the issue. What did I do wrong? My linux foo is weak so be gentle please.

Thanks Tom - confirmed the process to replace it and yes, that sounds like a viable approach to finding the party drive as at most, I would have two drives spinning at a time.

Hello. Getting errors on my parity disk, so I want to replace it. I will get a larger disk (6GB --> 8GB) but I do not have any additional disk interface connections, so it has to be a swap. Is it just stop the array, swap it, and restart the array? Also, and this is terrible - but I am not sure I know which drive (physically) is the parity - I saw a disk identify somewhere but is there one for the Parity too? Thanks.

Hey Pinion, Had to rebuild my docker containers several months ago (long story). I re-added pyTiVo, but I cannot get it to work. If I configure a path wrong such as putting a slash at the end where there should not be one, then I get an error in the log, but it is not too informative. However, I have it all set up properly, I get no errors in the log, but when I tell it to download a program, it acts like it is doing it, but I never get anything. I says it is queuing it for download, stays with that message in the green background for a while, then it just disappears but I have no media. Any idea of a more detailed debug log I can turn on to get some deeper info on what is wrong? Thanks

I am having a problem with my Unraid 6.3.5 system. When the system craps out, the console is spewing errors, the networking is gone, and CTRL-C does not kill the console output. What is my best method of capturing the Syslog so that I can look at it or post it here for somebody to tell me what is going on? I know I have read errors on one disk, and I have a replacement on order, but can read errors take down the whole system? I thought Unraid was to prevent that and manage it? Meanwhile, if I want to prevent the bad disk from being used, can I just remove it from the list of drives to use for each user share that I have in the system? What happens to the data on that drive if I do that? Can I just remove the drive from all of the shares and then - if I want to spin it down sooner than when the replacement arrives - manually move the data to other drives? Thanks

Howdy, Total unRAID/Linux neophyte here. I have an unRAID 6 server going with 8 SATA drives and an SDD cache drive, and I am adding another 4 drives (at least I hope to) with the subject referenced controller. I added it to the system and connected everything but it does not recognize any drives, so I am sure it is because unRAID does not support it out of the box. So I read through some forums and downloaded some software but this is beyond me. It appears I have to flash the firmware to put the board into IT mode or something like that? Can anybody direct a complete simpleton to getting this working on my system? Appreciate the help!

OMG pinion - you nailed it! I am new to this whole docker thing, and I knew they were virtual environments, but it never dawned on me that the directory paths were mapping real to virtual... Once I edited the docker to point /media to /mnt/user and then set video, photos, and music to /media/Video, /media/Photos, and/media/Music, it started working! The only issue (good and bad) is that it found TV Recordings I copied over from another media center (and it knew how to read them!) but it still is not doing the iso files, so I guess I have to bite the bullet and decode all of them into mpg files. OK, so the good news is, I am an idiot - I saw where you wrote that tdcat and tivodecode would be installed automatically, and the part where you wrote that they would be found automatically, but TOTALLY glossed over the "if it does not work, set the path to..." - so my bad... however, after setting the paths to those as documented, saved the config, restarted the docker, it did not change the results at all. When I access "Push from video shares: MyMovies" on the web page at port 9032, I get: No data received ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE ReloadHide details Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data. Did the pyTivo.log provide any clues?

So using ffmpeg --version I see that it is installed, and using find I find it in /usr/local/sbin/ffmpeg and another directory where I tried to get it installed... The version is N-51867-g2dba040-static with a 2005 date, so it appears good/current. When I search for or attempt to execute tdcat and tivodecode however, I do not find them in any system-wide location, only in a bunch of docker subvolumes. When you say you got ffmpeg installed did you exec into the docker container or are you just within unraid? having ffmpeg installed in unraid won't do you any good for pytivo and running commands within the docker container isn't necessary. For example, using access to the command line, I am able to do ffmpeg --version to see if it is installed and working. I will check tivodecode and tdcat to see if they were installed and perhaps I just need to set the path...

OK - removed everything, re-installed, this time at least ffmpeg was installed (no tdcat, but that is not critical). So I figured I was golden, but there are still no movies appearing. I haven't heard for certain that a root video directory full of sub-directories of ISO files is OK with this - is it? I even took an mp4 file and copied it to .mpg and .mpeg, put them in the root folder where my media (movies) are located, but my TiVO just keeps saying that there are no movies. I created music and photo shares, and they also point to directories with a ton of sub-directories containing photos or MP3 files, but when I access Music on my TiVO I get "An unexpected error occurred while accessing the server. (Error#3-5-6)". When I access photos, I see it flash the boxes on the screen for a second where it would display the folder names, but then those go away and it says the same as with Music except the error is (Error#5-6). From what I have read online, those errors are a bit of a mystery potentially created by the TiVO end of things screwing up. (Which, if you have ever used their TiVO app on iOS or Android, you would no doubt believe since it couldn't keep a decent connection going to save its life even when you have good bandwidth...) So not sure why the videos are not appearing when all else appears good - any ideas? FYI... Log is clean, no errors.

I was just using the terminal emulator in Krusader to try to run a package installer, but am not having any luck. Yes, I am on UnRAID 6.1.4 I don't use this, but is Krusader part of the pytivo docker, or is it a separate docker? If a separate docker it cannot access anything in the pytivo docker. I was just using it for its terminal emulator because I was on a computer that did not have Putty on it...

No, I like what you have done very much! Once a TiVO show is decoded, you can use anything to view/stream it like kmttg, but with your solution here, it is the best because I have a TiVO and 2 minis, and I have them on a video distribution system so we can watch any one of them on any TV in the house, so now being able to watch all of my movies through the TiVO interface is perfect... I just need to get it working!

Thanks pinion! Let me give you an idea of where I am at then... Using Krusader, I cannot see the files so I was not sure if they were installed with the docker. Krusader defaults to user Nobody and I can't sudo su because of that and I haven't figured out how to fix that one... So I trust they are there... When I browse using WebUI it shows no files, and the directory I provided for it as a subdirectory for every ISO file. In case it was an issue with the ISO files, I put an mpg file in the root of the directory, but it still does not see anything. I have the MAK set too. Hello, I am all over the pyTivo docker, it is absolutely what I want/need, but not having spent enough time in the Linux world, I am having a hard time getting tdcat and tivodecode installed on my unraid box. There is no rpm installer, and all I can find are source files (no binaries) but perhaps I am looking in the wrong place. Is there someplace/way that I can get those two pieces so I can get pyTivo up and running? I found ffmpeg so that should be good. I am not sure if I have to convert my .iso movies to mpeg or if this plug-in can do it on the fly with ffmpeg, but I will do the conversion if necessary; just can't seem to figure out how to get the last two pieces installed and my head is sore from banging it against the wall... any help is greatly appreciated. No, I wrote faster boot but I meant faster performance overall. If the OS stays in memory, and the VMs are in the cache, then I suppose having an SSD for a cache drive provides the same functionality. Thanks for the other bits!
