  1. I attached the diagnostics file tower-diagnostics-20201201-0102.zip
  2. I wasnt suggesting anything was wrong with the drive, I really wanted to know if it would be ok to cancel the data rebuild and put the old drive back in that already holds the data. Would unraid accept it back into the array without trying to rebuild it.
  3. Hello I have replaced a drive in my older server (RFS) after warning signals, the drive is currently rebuilding, it's currently at 209GB (5.2%) and has taken over 10 days to get to this at ridiculous speeds 240 KBS/sec. The drive is also showing CRC errors which have gone from 11 -16 in the 10 day period. I have looked at threads here on the subject and im fairly satisfied this is a cable or similar issue, the drive was previous used as a parity drive without issue so I know the drive is sound. I further suspect the drive I replaced is sound also. My question is here if I want to cancel this rebuild as the times scales are currently showing as 189 days! and replace the original drive back in which still contains its data how would unraid see that in terms of what it would do (Version 6.8.3). Thanks
  4. Thank you for your replies Please disregard this issue, 10TB now currently rebuilding parity please show this as solved.
  5. Thanks for your reply As you have requested I have attached the diagnostics report - The new drive 10 TB is currently in the Parity slot which shows unassigned and no drop down facility to assign it. - looking forward to sorting this out. Thanks trooper1-diagnostics-20201115-2202.zip
  6. Hello I am using Unraid 6.8.3 on a Windows10 64 pro OS My current single parity drive is 6TB, it is working perfectly but I want to replace it with 10TB to allow for drive expansion. I am experiencing problems in that when the new 10TB is inserted in the drive it is not seen by the server. There was no facility offered to unasign the old 6 TB and assign the new 10 TB in the parity slot. I have tried using an empty slot and the 10TB is seen but no facility available to format the drive.? My understanding is that for upgrading to a new larger parity drive, all that is required is to remove old drive replace with new. Unraid will do the rest. I am currently running without parity because of this issue. Do I need to format this disk ahead of inserting it in the parity slot?, if so how do I do it? If not, why is it not being seen in the parity slot, and how do I achieve it. Thanks
  7. Hi My system is Win10 my UnRaid 6.4.0 for the first time ever today I could not mount my drives and was given Stale Configuration as the reason I do not know what that is, or what I need to do to correct it. The server has gone into a parity check though parity is shown as valid. I would rather not run this check if I can avoid it as I am going away for the weekend but it appears there is no option to stop the check running. What has caused the configuration to become stale? Grateful for your best advice on the way forward. Thanks Peter
  8. Thank you both for your responses, the matter is now resolved, the network was working OK, but I had not started the array as at the time I was not able to start the GUI all is now resolved thanks. Pete
  9. Good Afternoon This is probably going to be fairly easy for those with the knowledge. I have have had my computer and my two servers in storage since March 2018 as I have had extensive building work done to my property. I have now unpacked everything and fired things up my Unraid is Version 6 of what ever it was in March. Windows 10 is not seeing my drives and currently all that is showing is my flash folder. So really all I need to know is what I need to do to that folder or its contents to get back to normality as clearly I have totally forgotten what I need to do. Thank you in anticipation for your valuable assistance. Pete
  10. The machine is on, im not sure what the ssh port is, I can see the network light flashing as it always does all the disk lights on the box are on. I think all I need to do is reboot flash but not sure which file does it?
  11. Hi I am using the latest version of unraid which I believe is 6.3, google chrome is telling me the site is taking too long to respond and I don't get to the GUI. This has not always been happening in fact this is the first time. I did however notice last evening I could not get to the GUI to switch the server off, I just assumed it had gone to sleep as it was on a long time. All I have currently in the server folder is the flash folder, which actual file in the flash files list do I click to continue the boot process? or is that not possible? Thanks
  12. Thanks trust me to manage an update mid stream all sorted now.
  13. Hi I have in the last 30 minutes just updated the Dynamix System Buttons plugin. The red button on the top right hand-side of the interface for starting or shutting down now ceases to work so I am unable to start the array or shut down any advice on the way forward would be great version 6.3.3.
  14. Johnnie disk was faulty used new disk in same slot rebuilt no problem RMA ing disk for new one thanks all sorted. Peter

  16. Could someone give me the link for fast_pre_clear script the latest one for 6.1.9 preferably a self installing one for the pluggins install page. The post is over 50 pages long and so many scripts in there I am confused. Thanks Just realized this might this may be in wrong place so copied elsewhere
  17. Johnnie Thanks checked the cables and currently doing another 16 hours rebuild. Will report the progress, I have another drive to do but one at a time i think. Peter
  18. Thanks for your replies, Bob the process looked good but too complicated for me. The current state of play is as follows, the parity drive showed the highest figures in terms of relative danger so I replaced it with a new larger Disk and the system rebuilt it. The next priority again in terms of figures was Disk 2 I replaced it with a new larger drive and it was rebuilt. The problem I have at this point is, it has a red X against it and is disabled. I have run a file system check thinking there might be some file corruption but it showed there was not. I have not run a parity check of the machine for some time as i wanted to preserve the hardware pending the replacement of the drives. I have attached tower diagnostics and sys log for expert eyes. Thanks Peter tower-diagnostics-20160807-0742.zip tower-syslog-20160807-0743.zip
  19. Hi The fix common problems utility has identified imminent drive failures on my older server. In fact three drives, one of which is the parity drive. The server runs 6.1.9 and the format is RFS, my newer server is XFS. I realize I need to rebuild the parity drive as the first part of the project. Is there any value in changing the two data drives to XFS ? as this would not be an easy option as there is not spare slots? I am also seizing the opportunity of increasing the drive sizes and have got the drives ready to start the work. Any pointers for this work would be greatly appreciated, the server has been shut down since the notification mindful that i don't want the data drives failing before i have rebuilt the parity drive. Peter
  20. John That is a good question and one I would love to answer, the fact is I don't know. Currently my server up running 6.1.9, parity is valid I let it sync. I do need to run a parity check. But my data appears to be present. The is something i would like some assistance with I would like to displays the disks rather than the shares I prefer to write directly to the disk. I dont recall how to displays disks not shares. Peter
  21. UPDATE I have got to the GUI by using the router interface. Do I need to rebuild parity at this point as its not obvious at present. I have not done anything at this point in time.
  22. UPDATE# I have now installed clean copy of 6.1.9 all the drive lights are stable which is something but cant get to any console
  23. Hi Sorry for the delay I have had not internet access for a number of days. I have no experience of the console but if it just connecting a monitor to t he box I have tried that and nothing happens. If there is a process around the conecting to the console please enlighten me as to what that is.
  24. Hi I could use some help here please. Firstly this is a server built professionally (NOT BY ME) commissioned by me. It was originally supplied with 6.1.3 and is currently only 6 months old. I upgraded it to run 6.1.9 which went absolutely fine the server has never been any trouble and is my second server. The other is still operational too The machine uses a flash card as opposed to a flash drive so all I have to do is replace the card if it craps out (which it has done) in this case.My older system also uses the same system to boot. I contacted the builder to ask advice and he suggested installing vanilla 6.1.3 and also over writing with the original 6.1.3 installation files which would recognize the drives. As I did not want to rebuild parity and more importantly Im worried about data loss. Fortunately I know which drive is the parity and there is only one drive that has data on it. The other two have been precleared but contain no data. I booted up the machine on 6.1.3 all the drives LEDS came up and I ran IPCONFIG to ascertain the address and it said not connected ? all the drive LEDS then go out except the parity drive. I have attached screen shot of IPCONFIG. I can here the beep from the box. I dont know why i cant get the Ip adddress why would it say offline when its clearly plugged in. Im not to great with this stuff so am I going to be better to bite the bullit here and completely reinstall 6.1.9 if thats the case some guidence in that would be really very welcome. I know I should have copied the contents of the flash folder to a safe place it was work in hand and to be honest I wasn't expecting a new machine to give me problems so early. its happened so lesson learnt I just want to get back up and running. Peter
