  1. I am currently playing around with my VM and have passed my onboard audio through. My VM seems to be ok however when I look at the log it shows the following line Now I can only assume this is from the Audio pass through as a quick search of the forum HERE and it also didnt come up before passing the audio through This is what comes up when I look at the system devices Is there any way of finding out if this IOMMU group has any other dependants? I would like to snub it but dont want to "Break" something.
  2. I have a question in regards passing through USB 3.1 on the X399 DESIGNARE EX. As per the below image the red USB 3.1 port and the USB 3.1 type C are the only USB 3.1 on the rear I/O The only reference in System Devices on Unraid that makes mention of USB 3.1 is below. So if I isolate 1022:43ba with vfio-pci.ids=1022:43ba I should be able to pass-through USB 3.1 to my VM. Does that sound about right?
  3. Faulty port on your board? Have you tried plugging it in a different port to see if you get the same read error's?
  4. Just out of interest did isolate the 1070 with the vfio-pci.ids= command before using it as the GPU for your VM?
  5. On a side note if you do want to run a vm on the same card unraid uses then you will need an Nvidia K or M series card or AMD FirePro S equivalent. However im not sure if unraid supports those cards as they require very specific drivers to work.
  6. Ok ill tackle this one thing at a time. The single biggest difference between sli and crossfire is sli has a minimum requirement on the board... that being 2 slots that are able to run at x8 speeds. Crossfire however doesnt have that requirement. Crossfire is more than happy to run one card at x8 and one card at x4. The fact that you cant set the primary slot to x8 doesnt mean it will not automatically reduce it to x8 speeds when it detects a second AMD card. There would be nothing stopping you from running sli on a board that doesnt support it "If" it had two x8 minimum slots. As far as your test you just performed you cant use the 1070 for unraid and at the same time use that card with a VM. You would need to set your VM to use VNC.
  7. If your dead set on using that CPU with two cards then This is basically what you need But if your going to throw that kind of money at a board your better of selling the MB CPU and ram and getting a small upgrade.
  8. You are correct, that board does support crossfire.... what it doesnt support is sli which is completely different. You have two nvidea cards which require a board with sli support. It may sound like a technicality but crossfire is well and truly different to sli.
  9. You will still need to set the gpu in the x16 slot to run at x8. Its been a good many years since I played around with bios setting on an oldish board so not sure if you can set it to run at x8.
  10. If you can set and thats a big "If" your primary display to run at x8 then yes you might be in luck. However the second GPU will run at 70% of its potential at best.
  11. However saying that you could try what the specs say and be in luck.
  12. If Im ready your manual correctly that board has 1 x16 slot running at x16 and 1 x16 slot running a x4 so my guess was pretty much correct. You dont have the lanes to support running two GPU's. Dont confuse the other slot on the board which are pci not pci-e.
  13. Not enough pci lanes available? What MB and CPU you using?
  14. Happy new year all. I have recently upgraded my MB and CPU and was given an NVMe drive with the MB so thought it might be a good idea to move my Win10 VM over to the unassigned drive. I worked out early on I would need to download the unassigned plugin as well as the addon. I have two question however. 1. What are my best options for running a VM on an Unassigned device ( This device will only have the VM on it and the VM will be up 24/7 ) 2. What is the easiest and most pain free way to move my VM from where it is now ( Cache Drive ) to its new home. Thanks in advance--------> This linux code noob
  15. Whats not to love about unraid! Would love to see a detailed breakdown on the dashboard of how much system resources the dockers and vm's are using instead of having to go to the docker tab and looking at the advanced view.
  16. At a guess I would say check your port forwarding is correct as I have exactly the same setting as your screenshot and works fine.
  17. Just thought I would share my experience so far with this board as I know that early on there was problems with the IOMMU. Im running the 2920x with the very latest F12 bios. I have enabled acs override in bios. I currently have 1 GPU, 1 HBA card and as I was expected to not be able to pass through one of the onboard NIC's a dual NIC card. The first boot into Unraid got me some horrible groupings with ALL the NIC's being in the one IOMMU group which was completely pointless. Setting the PCIe ACS override in Unraid to downstream did sweet fa so ended up setting ACS override to both. After a reboot all is good again in the land of Aus. And as the USB 3.1 controller is on its own IOMMU group I "Should" be able to pass that through to my VM, which I will not need for the VM im running but its good to know. On a side note for this board as im sure someone is going to come across the same issue one day. If you buy this board and you need to do Q Flash plus bios update to get the second gen Threadripper running on it you "MUST" have the new CPU on the board for Q Flash plus to work. No ram or video card needed, but the CPU is a must.
  18. I have a AMD system I am getting ready to drop into my Unraid system but as I am currently using Intel just wanted to ask if there are any bios settings I need to lookout for. For reference the new system is a 2920x on a x399 designare ex.
  19. If you have 12e I wouldnt mind getting a zip if thats ok.
  20. Same. I have had a look as well and can’t find it on the site. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. If you had to choose between the X399 Designare EX and the ASRock X399 Taichi which would you choose?
  22. The issue with IOMMU is it doesn't separate the dual on board network instead leaves them in the same group making pass through a little hard, hence the extra NIC, my VM needs a dedicated NIC.
