  1. Currently my Unraid machine is an Intel I7 7700K (old gaming system) and my current gaming PC is a Ryzen 3700X. I also have an unused Intel Dual Core Pentium Gold G6405 (Comet Lake) from an old GPU mining rig I was running a few years back. In the very near future I am looking to upgrade from my 3700X to a 9800X (brand new build) and will therefore have left over hardware. My initial plan was to give the 3700X to my step son for his first gaming PC as it still plays fortnite, etc. perfectly fine, however I was then thinking about the other two systems. I also rent a virtual private server for my unifi controller, costing about $8 per month. Plan A is New 9800X for me 3700X to step son 7700K remains as Unraid box (Plex, *rrs, etc.) G6405 potential to conver to a firewall to replace my Unifi USG, or use as a linux box to host home assistant, unifi controller, etc. I am now considering Plan B New 9800X for me 3700X to replace 7700K Unraid box G6405 replaced with an Intel Core i7-10700K for step son 7700K - e-waste?. I know the 3700X would make a better unraid box than the 7700K, meaning I would not need the second machine for HA / Unraid, however I also believe setting up a 3700X for unraid is a little more work due to no integrated GPU? I'm also unsure if it is worth upgrading to an i7-10700K when it's only about 10% better (userbenchmark) than the 3700X? Pros Plan A I only need two rack mount cases, one for the Unraid box and one the HA / Unifi / Linux box. Cons Plan A Need two boxes, as the 7700K is starting to slow down. Need to upgrade machines to 2.5G ethernet Pros Plan B Quicker Unraid box No need for second Linux box Slightly faster second gaming PC 2.5G Eth already on the ex mining rig, so only needed for one other machine. Cons Plan B More expensive? More difficult to set up 3700X as Unraid? Is there anything I've missed? Anything you would do differently? Or would you go option A or B? Thanks
  2. Thanks, so if I set plex.mydomain.com in the local DNS, rather than plex.local then that will still work? The only issue I have is with Unifi. It seems that if I set unifi in NPM then I can access the webgui port (normally 8443) at the unifi.mydomain.com address, however the other ports aren't accessible which are needed by the access points, etc. Any idea how to get around this?
  3. Currently my Docker apps (plex, rr's, sabnzbd, etc.) all run in my docker, but I use NGix Proxy Manager to resolve them with an easy to remember domain, i.e plex.domain.com, through a combindation of NPM, Cloudflare and DuckDNS. Pro's to this set-up are; Easy to remember domains (family friendly) Easy to access outside the home SSL certificates, so no annoying browser popup's. No having to remember ports for apps, such as plex's 32400. The drawbacks to this I see are; They are open to the world. Anyone could stumble across them and use them to access my internal network. If my internet goes down, I lose access to locally hosted apps. Doesn't work if you need to access multiple ports, such as Unifi Controller. I currently host that using vultr.com at unifi.mydomain.com, which adds up when it's $8.50 per month. I've been trying to work out how to move the subdomains to internal domains, i.e. plex.local, sonarr.local, unifi.local, etc. which I can do in PiHole as local DNS records, however I then lose the SSL certifiates and also the ability to mask the ports, i.e. for plex I now need plex.local:32400. How can I re-introduce the SSL certificates on each docker container (or .local in general) and also mask the ports, so that port 80 effectively forwards to the docker containers webGUI port? I'm sure there's away, I just can't find the right tools to do it. Thanks!
  4. Hey As above, when I try to start Nginx Proxy Manager following a recent update of the docker files, I get the 403 error code. I've tried searching other posts on this but cannot seem to find the answer. I've tried increasing the docker file size as that's fixed similar issues with Plex before, but I'm still having the issue. Any ideas on how to fix? Attached are the diagnostics for the server. Thanks S home-diagnostics-20240607-1903.zip Edit: Updated diagnostics after upgrading unraid to latest stable version
  5. I've been running the official Plex server docker for a few months now and have had no issues, however for the past few weeks I've been unable to connect to the WebUI, either through the docker tab or by going to https://plex.mysite.com, as I either get a cloudflare "bad gateway" error, or simple "this page isn't working" error when loading through Unraids docker tab, however the server is still 'up' as I can watch all off my media through Plex.tv. Ideally I do not want to be doing this as I'd rather not run through their servers, and instead want to keep it local / accessable through my own URL. Does anyone else have this issue? Does anyone know how to resolve? TIA
  6. Currently we have two Windows devices in the house, a gaming PC and a low-end laptop for browsing, etc. We're building a new gaming PC soon for our eldests 9th birthday and want to be able to sync the users shared folders across devices, i.e. My Network folders (Docs, Pictures, etc.) Partners folder (Docs, Pictures) Childs folder (Homework). Is there an easy way to do this, which does not require manually logging in to each user account on each device to set up and map the folders? We would also like to keep each mapped folder private if possible and have it act as a network location. All devices have windows pro, but I don't really want the hassle of setting up active directory and the learning curve that takes, for a home enviroment. Thanks
  7. I'm currently trying to install a PCI-e to NVME M.2 riser, however whenever I do I get the below error, preventing me from using this device to add a second NVME. It also makes all of my drives disapear from the Main screen, and also prevents me from running any functions such as parity check. I was also getting a similar issue when adding a PCI-e SATA extender. Any ideas what could be causing this? Fatal error: Uncaught LogicException: Can't seek file /boot/config/parity-checks.log to negative line -1 in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix/include/Helpers.php:204 Stack trace: #0 /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix/include/Helpers.php(204): SplFileObject->seek(-1) #1 /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix/include/Helpers.php(214): tail(Object(SplFileObject)) #2 /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix/include/DefaultPageLayout.php(693) : eval()'d code(429): last_parity_log() #3 /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix/include/DefaultPageLayout.php(693): eval() #4 /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix/template.php(82): require_once('/usr/local/emht...') #5 {main} thrown in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix/include/Helpers.php on line 204 Thanks in advance
  8. Managed to resolve it. Thanks!
  9. Ahh right, so it is. Thank you. I had 5 working drives. One 10TB parity, one 10TB storage and two 4TB storage drives, along with one 250GB SSD cache. The issues occured when I tried to add two new 1TB NVMe SSD's to the cache, which then bricked my config on reboot. I'll take another look at the link now re: identifying the parity, thanks. Would I also need to copy the "shares" folder from the old config to my new one, or is that something that will pull through when setting the drives back up? Thanks for the help!
  10. Thanks, is there any way to tell which of my two 10GB drives was the parity drive, or is it just flipping a coin? I have a partial backup of the folders, but for some reason the config folder is missing... This is what I have below. Will salvaging any of this help?
  11. Hi. I tried transfering the config to the new usb. Same errors, suggesting the error is with the config. I cannot generate a diagnostic report due to the errors. Regarding the key, if I transfer that and activate the server will the array recover itself, or is that data now lost without the config file?
  12. After installing two new NVME drives, and trying to configure both of them as a cache along with my current SSD, I am unable to log into the GUI. The system boots and I can see the command line showing it has booted when plugged in to my monitor. I can also PING the Unraid Box through windows, however I cannot access the GUI, nor can I connect via PuTTY. I have installed Unraid onto a new USB and that boots fine into the GUI so it is clearly a config issue on the old USB. How do I rectify this? Is there a way to transfer my shares, parity, and license to the new USB, or a way to easily undo the config change on the old USB on my windows machine? Thanks
  13. Reviving my old topic... I moved away from using Unraid for a short while, partly due to this issue, but now I'm back and eager to fix this problem. The two new 4TB drives are fresh drives bought direct from Amazon. The other two drives were already working in the system. Since installing the 4TB drives the two 2TB drives are completely bricked. They have data on them I want to get off. I could put them in a windows machine, but surely the system would not be able to read them due to them being set up for Unraid? The other two drives are the drives which are showing as being active. How can I resolve this? Thanks
  14. No, they're the drives I originally had in the system before adding the two new 4TB HDD's in. I run the system headless and only manage it through the web GUI. IS there a way to check this through the terminal?
  15. I currently have 4 HDD's and 1 SSD plugged into my rig. The two 4TB HDDs show, along witht he 250GB SSD, however the other two 2TB drives do not show. I've tried installing the unassigned devices plugin, but this has not helped. My Docker folder has also disapeared meaning nothing is running; I'm unsure if this is related, or because the 4TB drives are full? I have attached the diagnostics if someone could please take a look? media-diagnostics-20220317-2049.zip
