  1. That's true, currently my builds of FreeNAS, UnRaid and ScaleIO all use M1015 and H310's so PCIe 2.0 limitation mainly hits with the ScaleIO with the SSDs pushing 250K IOPs cross cluster Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Yeah, that's true, but having the PCIe 3.0 bus width helps if you have 250+ drives connected via expanders When my new H330 arrives I'll flash it to IT mode and report back on its compatibility. It's scheduled to arrive next week I'll probably write a blog post and just link to that if that's ok? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Another option if you want a "newer" HBA would be to go with the LSI 9300 series. These can be found in IBM M1215 or Dell H330. Advantages are 12gbps bus compared to 6 for the 2008 based cards, and better support for downstream port multipliers. They come at a greater cost, but should be considered if you want newer cards which would also be able to handle SSDs at a much better throughout. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Hopefully I'll have some time to play around with this later today/this week, as I have 9 cameras that would need to be tested/migrated Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Sorry I fell asleep during posting it on my phone Crossflashing takes 15-20minutes and is quite well documented Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. That would be for minor bug fixes etc. The 2TB drive size limit is due to the 64bit LBA boundary and is a hardware restriction in the card, which cannot be solved with a firmware update. Like Jonnie I strongly recommend the LSI2008 based cards he listed, as they are cheap and come in configurations that suit the server and case layout you may require. Crossflashing takes Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I'm guessing you don't use the Docker/VM Engine on those cacheless servers? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Most welcome Dennis, hopefully that gets you back going again I have those nights every few months or so that I'll go clean out old crap that I can't recognise anymore. Generally gets done when I do update sweeps that aren't automated Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. My cache is underpinned by 2 500GB SSD's in a hardware raid, as I had bad experiences with BTRFS. The idea is that I can deal with the cost of the SSD for the trade off that my transcoding and post scripts that occur are occurring all in flash, and that the shows etc that I want to watch are immediately available on always spun up cache drive. This in turn gives me a power saving as to not have to constant spin up a myriad of drives to complete a tiny task. I prefer my redundancy everywhere. And I also keep backups of everything important on a separate array and offsite. That being said, when I migrated my production data to Unraid I used rsync to the user0 share as to avoid the cache disk. Simpler method if you ask me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Fwiw some plugins can fall out of sync and stop detecting as out of date. I had the issue myself with the preclear plugin. I've noticed it happen twice with plugins which didn't update correctly were manually URL added ones rather than via CA Perhaps you could try removing some plugins and re-adding them via CA? Re SAMBA, there were some significant changes, some users noticing that some changes were needing in the SMB config to work correctly. Not sure if that helps you or not though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Hell, I only run my mover once a week The upside of using 500gb SSDs in cache I guess. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks for that, I'm guessing there's no WebUI for the software? And that you have to use an app to configure the software? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. I was thinking that too, hence no need to load everything into the kernel of unraid, should just pass it through to a VM/Docker instead Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Out of interest, what is your purpose for the card? Like is it for a Docker or VM? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I'll keep digging into this one, the issue may be with the controller not mounting the disk behind it. I'll have a look into loading up the micron utilities on the server to play with it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Hi Guys, I have just trialled installing one of the below in a test Tower, and i am unable to see it to assign it etc Any chance we can get support for it added? ---- IOMMU group 11 [1344:5150] 02:00.0 Mass storage controller: Micron Technology Inc RealSSD P320h (rev 03) ---- I have tried on both 6.3.3 and 6.3.2 Kind Regards Matt
  18. H310/H200/M1015/LSI2008 Cards all support port expanders if genuine IO is not of grave concern. PCIe 2.0 x8 will do 4GB/SEC which is quite a lot for a disk controller, especially if you're not using SSDs on it Just an idea Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Thanks Paul, good luck with the development of both the Ryzen and the Tunable Script Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. 16gb at the moment, board supports 32 and will get there when ddr3 isnt so stupidly priced
  21. Yep The IBM M1015 and the Dell H200 and Dell H310 are all basically the same LSI card under the OEM cover. Just pick which one suits the port layouts you like more. And make sure you buy some SFF-8087 to Sata breakout cables (each cable does 4 drives) and you'll be laughing There's several guides on the internet on how to flash the card to LSI IT mode, which will put it into passthrough where the disks will be seen natively by the OS rather than needing annoying single disk raids Only other caveat is some motherboards don't like booting with the card installed, as it detects as a non server board, personally I haven't had this happen, some guys with SuperMicro mobo's have, but if this happens, don't stress, google for the M1015/H200/H310 pin blockoff - whereby you use electrical tape to block 2 pins on the card to stop the detection and all will be happy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. That will limit you pretty badly, I would recommend stretching out the budget a bit and getting a M1015 and cross flashing it to IT firmware. They're $64USD for an 8port which is rock solid Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. What does dmesg say? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I fail to see how a USB drive makes unraid unportable? SanDisk make tiny cruzer drives that even when outside of the case they're barely noticeable Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Just wondering, if I use a Micron U.2 PCIeSSD is it going to break from the upgrade? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
