  1. I don't trust the NORCO backplanes so I plan on just direct connect wire each of the HDDs, untI I can replace the case. I was going to copy each HDD with a my Dual Bay Hard Drive Duplicator. You suggest just connecting the old and the new and copy within the system? Would I have to preclear all the new drives first? Once I can copy/transfer the data from the 4TB drives, they are getting disposed of.
  2. Not quite sure what happened, but my Server dropped off my network. Upon investigation, I found/smelled a burnt backplane. I have 10 4TB WD RED, 1 parity and 9 data. 1 disk is toast, burned PCB. I have ordered/received 8 6TB drives. My plan is to have (1) 6TB Parity and (7) 6TB data. I plan to add more 6TB later as needed. I am thinking of a complete rebuild my entire server, Case, MB, everything. I did find 2 other disks that had a burnt chip on the PCB. None of the drives spin up. I have bought replacement PCBs for all drives, all with same part/lot #s as each drive. I plan on swapping the ROM chips from my original HDD PCBs to the "donors" and hopefully revive the drives long enough to copy all the data to the 6TB drives. First question, is do I need a total of 10 drives and copy 1 disk to 1 disk or will the system figure it out and "rebuild" it?(I am not worried about time if the system can figure it out and fix it) None of the 4TB drives were full, maybe 50%. If I can successfully copy all the old drives, what are the steps to installing the new 6TB drives?
  3. Thanks. I have about 6+ GB of movies, 4+GB of music and 2+GB of photos and home movies. If I make the Directory Folders on the DISK1 and start copying files to the "Movie" folder what happens when I reach/exceed the 4GB of HD space on disk1? Does UnRaid automatically spread the files out between all the installed disks?
  4. Need some help setting up my UnRaid disks. I have (4) 4TB disks and a Cache drive. All the groundwork is done and I am ready to start copying files to the server. (about 5,500 files) I am also going to set up my Unraid to work with PLEX. I want to have separate folders for Movies, Music, Photos, TV Series, Kids Movies. Does it matter which of the 3 drives I set the folders up on? Do I need to make folders on all 3 drives? Can I just copy/paste from my PC to the target folder?
  5. Well, running the "make bootable bat file failed,......................so I am reading thru the "upgrade" instructions. Will post how this turns out. I thought I had backed up my flash drive, but can't find it........lesson learned.
  6. Rebooting the server unit via the power button or reset button. With my Unraid flash drive out of the server, when I power up the server, I go to Windows 7. I do a shut down, power off. Insert my Unraid flash and power up, I get the afore mentioned message on the monitor and the unit just sits there.
  7. I did run chkdsk on the drive, no errors. Tried it again last night with the same result. No error message while trying to load, it just sits there. Should I wipe the flash drive and reload the Unraid files? Will I have to re-verify my subscription? Any chance of messing up my server setup? Little nervous, I have (4) 4TB drives in my setup.
  8. So I have had my Unraid server working for about a year, last night, No connection. Hooked server up to monitor, keyboard and mouse, no display. Did a Reset on the server, when it began to boot up my monitor showed, " SYSLINK 6.03 EDD 2014-10-06 Copyright © 1994-2014 H. Peter Anvin et al" and just sits there. I removed the flash drive and rebooted, I can get to Win 7. Shut down, inserted flash drive, restarted and got same "stuck" message. Is my stick somehow corrupted?
  9. Did you get this figured out? I just got my UnRAID up and running, have had Torguard for a few years, would like to add SABnzbd to my Docker and utilize Torguard for privacy.
  10. Thanks, took a little tweaking to get the copy to paste in, but I got it installed. Got preclear to start on 1 of the 8 disks. Going to do 1 at a time. I tried to preclear my "parity" disk, but it keeps giving me an error, I'll work on it last. Going to be a few days to preclear my disks.
  11. I'm a Windows hardware guy, so this is new ground for me. I did find and download the Nerdpack. I copied zip to my PC, c:\nerdpack unzipped there. I have 2 files .gitignore NerdPack.plg and a folder packages. Inside the folder are 22 files ending with .txz I do see the "screen...." and "utempter....." files. Do I copy these 2 files to my flash drive /root or to /root/extra ?
  12. Got my hardware installed and "running". Going thru the setup and I am stuck trying to get "screen-4.03-i486-1.tgz". When I go to //tower:8080 I can access my UnRAID box, when I go to the pkg manager, scroll down to the "screen....." file and click to download, nothing happens. I tried to manually download thru the slackware website, but when I try to download file I get a page of gibberish. I am stuck, need help. I have (8)eight 4TB HDDs to PreClear, gotta get rolling on the project.
  13. Wow, call me Mr. Obvious! Thanks! Gotta remember the golden rule when working on PC's.....................Never after a 12hr shift with grand kids wanting to help while trying to get ready for a Halloween Party and trick 'r treating................where's my Rum and Coke........................THANKS. I'm sure I will have more questions as this is my first UnRAID build.
  14. Parts List: Case = Norco 4020 MB = Supermicro X10SAE-O CPU = Xeon E3-1241v3 RAM = Crucial 2 8GB CT2KIT102472BD160B (2) Crucial MX200 SSD 500GB Started putting the MB into the case. Following PIN diagram for the front Panel control. Diagram shows 8 pairs of PINS, the MB has 10 sets of PINS. I see on the MB the PINs go from 1 - 20. Pics attached of MB, diagram and connector Leads. My case has connectors for: Power SW, Reset, Power LED+, Power LED-, HDD, NIC1, NIC2, NIC3 and Alarm(8 PIN leads) So which 8 of the 10 on the MB do I use? Having trouble attaching pics, will keep trying.
