Checking connectivity ... No response, aborting!
So, looks like it's a connectivity issue, which sometimes happens since I have a dual 10Gb card and sometimes it tries to bring up the disconnected onboard ethernet. The console shows "IPv4 address: not set" even though it clearly is (since I can get to it.) yay, fun...

matguy's post in Persistent non-obvious error, MAIN disk list empty, system stats not showing on Dashboard was marked as the answerIt's a browser issue. This whole time it's been Chrome not showing the page right. Opened in Firefox and it's great.
I had re-seated the CPU, then replaced the NIC and at one point the drive list of un-assigned slots showed up, then couldn't get it to come up again. Had an epiphany and tried Firefox, worked great. Actually works in a different instance of Chrome, even. Holy hell.
