  1. 1 : If you have no expansion plans, hold off on buying a additional SATA card. If you absolutely need one, you can pick one up from Ebay, like this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Promise-SATA-300-TX4-PCI-SATA-II-3-0Gb-s-4-Port-PCI-Adapter/323948110832?hash=item4b6ccfe3f0:g:FREAAOSwvdxdEaDa A Raid-controller without the proper configuration will not pass on the SMART-data correctly. 2: You can install the empty drives and lastly install the full drive in the server. With the use of the "Unassigned devices"-plugin, you will be able to copy the data from the drive onto the array. 3: You need two graphics cards if you want to use virtual machines. Unraid needs either a integrated GPU or two GPUs in total. Personally i would consider a motherboard from a reputable server OEM like Supermicro and just change over the RAM and CPU from your current motherboard. You can easily relist the motherboard on Ebay and sell it.
  2. You can probably get a server chassis for a good deal if you look at the local marketplaces in your region. As to hardware, go with a LGA 2011 V3 motherboard and scout on Ebay for one that suits your needs: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=supermicro+lga+2011&_sacat=0 When it comes to connecting everything together, you should move away from pure SATA and go for SAS2 cables. In that way you will be able to connect the same amount of harddrives with less cables. That makes cable management and airflow better to manage. Also: You might think that remote management like IPMI is unnecessary, but trust me, once you get in to the game, you will benfit from it greatly. Especially if your server is somewhat inaccessible.
  3. Sometimes it´s nice to see which container is hogging available cpu cycles and memory. Currently i see no way of enabling resource monitoring for individual containers in the settings page Settings/DisplaySettings as i would have expected. This ties nicely in with the other resource monitoring widgets already present.
  4. Hi! is a updated setup guide available anywhere? I ran into some snags and i was wondering where to look for the best info. Thanks in advance.
  5. A extra support tier and a issue list are features i´m interested in also.
  6. Yes. You can generate the diagnostics here: http://tower.local/Tools/Diagnostics
  7. Hey guys. I have a situation where only two of my Docker containers(Transmission and Dupeguru) is reachable through the Web UI option and i´m starting to think that something is wrong with my network bonding settings. See attached diagnostics log. Any help is much appreciated. tower-diagnostics-20190714-1608.zip
  8. Is there a equalent GPU acceleration plugin for AMD graphics cards? I have a rx 570 that would love to do GPU acceleration. I got so frustrated with Nvidia that i returned the used GTX 1060 i purchased to the seller after a long error 43 battle. So i´m not interested in buying Nvidia hardware again.
  9. Thank you. That ended up being the only possible solution.
  10. Thanks Frank. That really helped me too when i was googling. It seems like UEFI boot is less cumbersome now, but the boot menu graphics are still off, but luckily it just autoboots and the startup log/text centers itself correctly after the boot selection screen has disappeared.
  11. Hi, dmacias. Thank you for a very interesting plugin! I just installed my "new" Supermicro X9DRH-7TF courtesy of Ebay, but the seller has a non default password on the IPMI-user and for various reasons i really, really do not want to pull out the server from the rack position to insert a USB-stick, especially not since it´s rebuilding parity right now. I was wondering, how can i reset the password from the command line for the administrator user, or reset IPMI completely to factory defaults?
  12. This would be such a nice feature to have integrated into the web GUI. Are there better methods to discovering duplicates now in 2019?
  13. Report it to your Motherboard manufacturer. If they don’t get reports, then how will they know what to prioritise and fix? Best of luck with your project 🙂
  14. My thoughts exactly. I was almost expecting a rc3 already with that change, but I’m sure Limetech is already on it.
  15. After some testing it seems that the AMD drivers hate folder redirection. Now with that out of the way I’m still losing hair and sleep over how can I reliably access my Remote Desktop for game streaming with a AMD GPU on a Mac. Any suggestions that offer graphics acceleration?
  16. Thats a good suggestion. Thank you. I will try that also.
  17. I get error 1603 when trying to install the driver with q35 as the machine type. Any fix for thaat with a RX 570? For now i have resorted to booting into safe mode and adding the Display and Audio driver from there in device manager, but that does not help me fully because i want to try AMD´s gamestreaming technology but that only comes with the full driver..
  18. Thank you for the tip. I still get error 1603 unfortunatly. Also: does anyone know why Rust allows movement but no use of the mouse in game? Some say it has to do with the unity engine.
  19. I tried Q35 and it seems to have a positive effect, but the driver install process leaves a lot to be desired. Unpack the driver and install via device manager in safemode. That goes for the graphics and the audio driver. I´m still struggling with exposing my mouse from a RDP desktop to the RDP-session and Steam game streaming hangs on initial install. All of these errors are at least better than not being able to install the drivers at all! I think when i get Cat 6a in the walls, i might have more luck since i then can separate my host and VM traffic to different NICs. All in all, lots more is working but this is a PITA. I have about 30-40 FPS ingame in Rust atm and no crackling audio.
  20. I can´t wait to try this at home, but has anyone been able to install a more recent driver in the windows VM? I have the exact same problem with a RX 570.
  21. Dear Unraid community. After two nuked VMs and countless of valuable lessons in configuring my array, i have one final obstacle to overcome. I have installed and successfully passed through a Nvidia GTX 1060 graphics card in my Unraid VM. The Nvidia drivers are installed and Directx 12 is confirmed as installed. The final obstacle is error 43 that appears in the device manager. So far i have tried to again nuke my VM settings and passthrough the GPU again. Also i have physically reseated the GPU in a different PCI lane. Any and all input is appreciated. Thanks for reading my post! Edit: Tried this solution without any resolution: https://egpu.io/forums/expresscard-mpcie-m-2-adapters/script-nvidia-error43-fixer/ With this solution i have a unsigned Nvidia driver and error 52: https://github.com/sk1080/nvidia-kvm-patcher What am i missing? Update: I nuked the VMs and got myself a rx 570. From what i understand i can change something in the VM XML file related to a vendorID or so to bypass this and trick the driver, but i believe that is excessive and bad consumer practice. tower-diagnostics-20190522-1959.zip DxDiag.xml
  22. It seems the override-setting trick worked. Now i´m just trying to expose my shares to the VM. Thanks again!
  23. Does anyone have a explanation to this message that happens after the install is completed, RDP is enabled and i try to switch the graphics over to my GPU? internal error: qemu unexpectedly closed the monitor: 2019-05-22T02:43:51.950357Z qemu-system-x86_64: -device vfio-pci,host=84:00.1,id=hostdev0,bus=pci.0,addr=0x8: vfio 0000:84:00.1: failed to setup container for group 25: failed to set iommu for container: Operation not permitted
