  1. I am a big fan of Giganews. Been using them for years.
  2. Not sure what the issue is with these drives. I have been running 2 in my setup since September. Never did a firmware update and they work great (one is parity, one is data .. mixed in with other Samsung drives). Looks like I will be picking up two more
  3. I now have two running in my unRAID .. one data, one parity. No issues. Cool and quiet. Speed is good.
  4. My Samsung 2TB finished its parity set up last night and I can report that it is running fine. I am getting 20-25Mb/sec transfer time, which is about average for my unRAID array (might be a little faster than normal). The 2TB is replacing a 1.5TB Samsung (also 5400RPM I think). I replaced a 750GB data drive with another 2TB this morning. Should know how it handles in about 16 hours.
  5. I have one formatting up as my parity drive right now. I will report back as soon as it is done.
  6. So .. if they need jumpers, which pins? Does anyone know for sure if jumpers are needed?
  7. Outstanding .. I was just looking at 2TB drives yesterday .. but I am partial to Samsung. Just picked up two!
  8. Just ordered 2 x Samsung 1.5s. Site shows they are $109 w/ free shipping .. but they came up on sale at $99 each in my cart ... plus got the $10 for the code $189 for 2x1.5GB delivered ... I'm happy!
  9. Around here we call them 'Deathstars' .. not a good track record with the Hitachi or when they were IBM.
  10. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152101 I have two unRAIDs running with Samsung drives and have been VERY happy.
  11. I have been using a GIGABYTE GA-MA74GM-S2 with absolutely no issues.
  12. The Popcorn Hour is getting a lot of positive chatter http://www.popcornhour.com
  13. I am using this board (as are others) and it is working great. GIGABYTE GA-MA74GM-S2 and AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane 2.6GHz Check the "Motherboards" forum for more info
