Thanks.. Preclear is done already.. Whoops! Sounds like a decent setup... Is there a guide to setting up a cache pool that is updated to the newer versions on unraid? Working through a Spaceinvader video from a year or so ago on Cache pools.

To add.. I just got both SSD's added to the server. So they are showing as unassigned with a Format beside them.. I will fire them through a preclear now.

Hey folks.. Running unRAID 6.11 I have a single 500gb SSD as my cache. It hosts a single windows vm I use for blue iris that is about 250gb, appdata and a cache for shares. Shares are not super active. I found some affordable 1tb ssd's (two) that I bought and want to use them for the cache Thoughts on the best way to do this? put them in a pool and continue to use the cache the same way Or Two separate cache disks, keep one for vm's and one for cache? What format would you recommend? And can you point me to some instructions on how to achieve this? Thanks guys. I have done a bunch of reading but struggling to figure it out. Cheers Mike

sorry for the slow reply.. I have just been hitting the permission's option on the destination folder, not the download folder. This resets the permissions in the destination to read/write.. I have not hit the ownership option.

Was having the same issues.. Saying that I have a fresh install or the 'arr' apps on unraid 6.11 (that has been upgraded many time over the last 7 years). Anyways I found your post on a google search and read the reddit that was linked to... I have not touched permissions at all trying to get things running. I fixed it tonight. I have Dynamix File Manager installed. I used it an went to the root of my download folder and media folder (both within 1 share) and reset the permissions using DFM. Next import worked just fine!! Again not the exact issue but maybe it will help?

PlexGuide is doing something similiar and they have automated the creation of the service accounts. You specify how many and it creates them for you. It spits out a list of accounts and you add them to your gsuite account. There must be a way to create the accounts without creating a full Gmail account. I will try and have a look to understand how it works. Not that I am all that smart

Much thanks! Tooks some tweaking and playing but things seem to be working. It will be a work in progress I am sure! Another question... Tweaking the rclone parameters.... As I am doing my downloading on another server how do you suggest changing the rclone command to better see the new media as it is downloaded. Is there a way to kick start the process to manually refresh the content? Specifically --dir-cache-time 720h How low can I go with this safely? Or is there a better option to get rclone to see new files on the remote side? Thanks!!

Hey folks.. I have been running UnRaid for a number of years. Awhile back I heard about plexguide and I have been using it with cloud servers to populate a gsuite account. I plan on still using plexguide as a feeder for gsuite drive but I would like to move the plex server back to my UnRaid server as I now have decent bandwidth at home and can support my families requirements. Where I am running into problems is that I did not use encryption when I setup my drives and I store everything in a tdrive share. Any directions or posts on installing without encryption? I have rclone up and configed. I did not setup the 2 VFS portions of rclone config. using the mount script from DZMM it does run with some errors but the mounts are there and I am able to point plex at the shares. I am now trying to work through the upload script and cleanup script but running into more errors. Any direction or advise is appreciated! Thanks!

ANyone able to comment... Is this still working? Any other recommended methods for attacking rclone on Unraid? New to this and just trying to learn my way around. THanks,

Awesome reply.. Thanks Grid for taking the time. I did open another thread in general support (got chastised for it as well ). Anyways I did delete the orphan and added Plex again. Took me sometime to get my shares right but all is good now. I went back to customizing the CPU's again. I need to read better I guess.. I did get it working in the end though after I realized you have to add the flags to the extra parameters.. All good now and I think my plex is working better. I was having some problems with a high use VM and plex intermingling and causing plex to bog down during live transcoding. Well I think thats what was going on. I will need to run it for a few days to see if its actually fixed. Again thanks folks!

Might be worth a new post but I am lost.. I updated my plex container with --cpuset=0,2,4,6 Missed that it should have been --cpuset-cpus So I clicked apply. It did its thing and the docker restarted. Then it was gone. It no longer appears in my list of Dockers. Just gone! Any thoughts? How do I go about finding the config file? Sorry guys.. I really don't know what I am doing. I pretend well though! I needs my plex! edit: I clicked advanced view and saw: (orphan image) Image ID: 9b60aa70ec67 linuxserver/plex:latest

Getting the same thing.. Joe. L's works fine as suggested. Not all the options your building in though. Any idea? Looks like it running ok in the status on the pluggin, just the popup windows does not display the working stats.

Thanks for the ideas... Not sure if the card is defective or what is going on... I did update to the lastest firmware. The preclear script will not run (minor issue). Cache rebuilding is running at about 10-15MB/s with 3 disks (Green 2TB, 1TB and blue 2.5" 640GB). This seems really slow.. Maybe I am expecting to much... Further no temperature or smart status is being reported Anyways I am looking to replace the controller right now unless someone wants to help troubleshoot it :-) Thanks, Mike A few other people have also had this when running disks from something other than the onboard SATA controller. One user fixed his by updating the firmware on his SAS card. What I think is actually happening, is that the preclear script is detecting a different situation(or non-standard, or something it is not sure about), and asks for an 'extra' prompt before continuing. It's very hard(maybe impossible) for gfjardim's wonderful GUI front end to catch this, and hence gets stuck at that point. You have a couple ways around this: Move the disk(s) to the onboard SATA to do the preclear.(and move it back when finished) Run the script directly within a terminal session.(I believe you can still monitor progress from the GUI) possibly, try any available firmware updates for your card

Ok, Preclear plugin is working on the onboard SATA controller, but it is failing on the 9650SE-24M8. It gets to the prompt Yes to continue and stops. Thoughts? I was going to use speeds to see how the Raid card performs to see if it works well enough or I should buy something else. The Raid card does work I can create an Array and write out data. Or I could.... Maybe I will try again. Mike

Probably feel like an idiot after I hear the answer but I cannot figure it out. I am new to unraid so be gentle ;-) I have a 'production' server up and running. I thought I would fire up a test machine for some raid/sata cards I want to test out and to preclear disks. Using the onboard SATA ports with a demo lic of UnRaid I was able to get the plugin working no problems. Now I want to test out a RAID card I have. Same disks, same Lic of UnRaid. Now when I click the start preclair button I get a window pop up with the following I have no way of typing the Yes it is looking for as the window will not accept input. Prior to the raid card it would just start on its own. Or so that what I remember. I was testing it out a couple days ago. What am I missing? Many thanks in advance! Mike

Worked great... Thanks.. Ideally I need to get the Unassigned Devices Plugin working. Then I don't have to assign the entire disk to video recording and can split it out with some other less important data that does not need to be part of the array. It would be great if this was a native feature of UnRaid. Choose if it needs parity or not. Mike

Is this still considered a valid option for adding a disk to a VM? Been struggling for a couple days trying to get a unassigned hardrive shared using the plugin unassigned device setup to record an IP camera from a windows VM Suggestion in unassigned devices thread was to assign the device completely to the VM and I have been hunting how to do it. Ultimately I would rather be a share but this would work as well.. Thanks Mike
