  1. Ah, it otherwise looks really good mobo. perhaps I should be looking for a different socket... is the socket LGA 2011-v3 considered less popular?? I thought it would be a socket most used in servers. I just picked up a used LGA 2011 Intel MB (S2600CP) to upgrade my server. Based on my experience, these LGA 2011 boards are rare and if you do find one new then they're pricey. Not many guys running dual Xeon processor MB's for their UnRAID media server but I guess some big server farm dumped a boatload of the E5-2670's on the market and you'll find guys in the Good Deals thread buying Intel parts on the cheap. This is what I did anyway. Hm, I have quad core broadwell, and it gets very sluggish when I have bunch of VMs and plex running at same time... I didn't think having more than 4 core processor was considered farm level processor. Good thing I asked before I was stuck with CPU with no mobo:) 2011-3 is the new version of 2011. They share the same physical dimensions, but the CPU's are different. So 2011 CPU's can't be used in 2011-3 sockets and vice versa. There shouldn't be any problem getting a 2011-3 board in the future for the new CPU's. wiki says v3 was released 2014, is the adoption much slower in server mobo compared to consumer? all consumer level mobo been sold are now skylake socket...

  4. thanks, this board has socket LGA 1150, my understanding is that it's not compatible with LGA 2011-v3?
  5. As I patiently wait for E5v4s, I started to look for a replacement motherboard. I was looking for LGA 20111-v3 for E5 V4, but wanted to experiment with ipmi, get spf+ (mostly for future proof), and lastly wanted to have SAS compatibility or at least have 3 pcie slots to put my SAS cards (or have native SAS Support). but as I research more, unlike consumer mobo, there's no server mobo that comes with all the features I want. Is this normal? am I looking at a wrong place? I've mostly looked at X99 or super micro websites. Is there a motherboard that fits my need? Socket: LGA 20111-v3 - IPMI - SPF+ (Nice to have) - SAS or 3 PCIE slots
  6. Unraid was telling me I was running out of docker.img in an attempt to increase the image size, I disabled the docker, and increased the image from 25 to 50GB, and reenabled. Now all my docker apps are gone... but the docker.img shows Total devices 1 FS bytes used 23.48GiB devid 1 size 50.00GiB used 26.00GiB path /dev/loop0 where did my docker apps go?? should I have not done what I did??
  7. Ah thank you! I thought I had it automatically split any directory, but I guess I did not. I've changed the split level, will this solve the issue?? Changing the Split Level will fix the issue for future writes to the share, but it won't retroactively move data. So yes and no. If you don't care what disk files go to your split level should be 99, 1 means that everything written to that share will go to the same disk. Share Level One means anything written to: /mnt/user/share or below will be kept on the same disk. (Share is what you see via SMB) Share Level 2 means anything written /mnt/user/share can go to any disk but anything written to a folder below that say /mnt/user/share/tv will be kept together. So if you add folder like /mnt/user/share/movies it could be created on any disk that's included in the share, but if you write to /mnt/user/share/movies/bladerunner that would be kept on the same disk that /mnt/user/share/movies is on.... And this continues like that... so on and so on... Got it! Are there any reason I should care about the existing files in the drive? the drive is now 98% utilized, but if unraid is smart enough to know to write new files to other drives, I'm good right?

  9. Here is a screenshot from one of the usershare. it's all set as automatic and to use all the drives... And I haven't added a new drive, it's been all the same.
  10. Normally if you have your system set up with the correct settings on your shares for Allocation Method and Split Level then unRAID writes things to appropriate places in the first place. Do you know why this has not happened on your system as your request implies it has not? My exact thought... I have no idea... I know I created a new share for crashplan and folder for working documents(includes pictures and videos), but none of the folders have a file that is growing dramatically. So, if anything unraid should have been able to put some of the files to other drives especially since I have the split level of automatic (unless I'm misunderstanding what autiomatic does...)....
  11. Unraid does not have a function that balances files post write. The only balancing happens at the time of the write, when the user share logic decides what disk to write to. There are plugins that might be able to help you balance your data. Oh that's bummer... I would thought that would be one of the most requested feature... Can you point me to the plug in that could help me? Meanwhile I've got to start moving files... In addition to moving the files, you need to examine your user share settings, because that is what determined how all those files wound up on that disk instead of any of the other disks in the first place. When you are examining your user share settings, turn on the help button and it will explain what all the settings do. The plugin you are looking for is unBalance. See search tips in my sig. thanks! I'll check out the plugin. for all the files (except for few of the cached disks that I need to be on SSD), I have selected to use all disks with the same split level. My thought was that unraid would be smart enough to balance the disks if one of the disk is low on space regardless of the level of the directory. Can you elaborate on what I could have done??

  13. I started getting notifications that one of my drive is low on space, but I have 10 other drives which are hardly used. I'm just wondering if I should start moving files myself, or could I ignore the message and unraid would balance the drives automatically? I would thought unraid should do it automatically, but thought I would ask...
  14. So, I just decided to delete the docker, and reinstall, and everything works now! not sure what was wrong with the previous one...
  15. hope this is what is needed... it's my first time using SSH or any terminal Linux 4.1.17-unRAID. root@zeus:~# ls -alR /mnt/user/Backup /mnt/user/Backup: total 16 drwxrwxrwx 1 nobody users 23 Feb 24 16:40 ./ drwxrwxrwx 1 nobody users 56 Feb 24 20:00 ../ drwxrwxrwx 1 tak users 6 Feb 24 16:40 Crashplan/ /mnt/user/Backup/Crashplan: total 0 drwxrwxrwx 1 tak users 6 Feb 24 16:40 ./ drwxrwxrwx 1 nobody users 23 Feb 24 16:40 ../
  16. I do have the share on the array. but when I lookat the array, it doesn't look like Crashplan is putting any data there.... the docker image is 25GB
  17. hope this is what you're looking for... I'm attaching the screenshots of the path mapping
  18. I started using CRASHPLAN and as soon as I had it install, I started getting errors "Docker image disk utilization of 94%" and then to 100%. I have it set up so that all the backup is pointed to a user share, but for some reason that share isn't getting utilized... Anyone know what may be causing this??
  19. I know in Synology world, they have something like cloud sync which allows users to use the network folder and sync with cloud solution like Dropbox/Google Doc/OneDrive. Is there something similar in Docker/unraid? I'm trying to use my OneDrive and map it to network folder, but they do not support network folder and Symbolic Link did not work. I'm going with my last idea and thinking about firing a dedicated VM just for OneDrive, have it up and running 24/7 and install file sync software that syncs the OneDrive folder to Unraid network folder. Nowhere near the best solution, but that's the only way I can think of... Can someone recommend be an alternative approach??
  20. Worked! Just gave a shot at using the USB 3.0 fix http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=41922.0 I don't know why, but it lookslike the fix in the site above can be used for 2.0 as well.
  21. So, Linus shouldn't have used btrfs then? He mentioned for some of the video, this will be the only copy... If that's the case, he really should have used Unraid Array then? So why not just use btrfs?? other than file size, as btrfs is raid 10, what benefit does unraid raid provide that btrfs won't? I always thought file back-up should be stored in unraid array, but will the way Linus set-up be secure enough? If so, I wanna start moving away from xfs due to the performance... UnRAID doesn't stripe data like RAID does and each individual disk in the array stores files independent from the others. This eliminates the risk of 100% data loss due to a few drives failing at the same time. Sure the data on those drives is lost, but the data on unaffected drives is 100% intact (with raid, a few drive failures and all data on all drives is lost). In addition, this means that the same number of drives in an unRAID array could store far more data than in a btrfs pool.
  22. When I plug it into my laptop (Win10 same version), it works fine. so my assumption is that it's not Windows, although I'm not sure though...
  23. I was looking into the device manager, and within the USB controller, I see USB Priting Support with the "!" mark on it, when clicked, status shows This device cannot start. (Code 10) Insufficient system resources exist to complete the API. Could this be the cause of the issue??
  24. did the universal printer detect the printer?? I'm assuming you have it plugged it into the mobo USB??
