I have a mix of devices and also I share my library with family and they have a tendency to use whatever flavor box/tv that supports Plex, hence the need for the P2000 card for transcoding. Also I find the P2000 helps tremendously with transcoding the UHD/4K media I have and that continues to grow in selection. If all I was dealing with was 720p/1080p media then yes I could possibly just tell my family to upgrade to a slightly better device, but for them to be able to support 4K they would need to be on my network and 4K conversions need a dedicated GPU to assist with that workload versus offloading to a few cores on the CPU.

So I purchased a Threadripper 3970x and I am almost ready to start building this monster machine. It is replacing two machines. One is my dedicated Unraid workhorse that houses a 7980xe with an Nvidia Quadro P2000. The Quadro is used for transcoding. It has 9 drives with 25 Tb of usable space and 32 Gb of RAM. I use my Unraid server for my media, virtualization labs (building Microsoft domains for testing) and I heavily utilize Eve-NG and GNS3. For the most part the space is used to hold my media. The other machine is my daily, everyday machine that is used for gaming and all other things. It is a first-gen 1920x Threadripper, has 32 Gb RAM, two Samsung NVME drives as the main drives and a Nvidia 2080 TI GPU. My plan is to consolidate the nine drives and two graphic cards into the new build with 64 Gb RAM and two new larger NVME drives. My issue is not knowing which direction to go and whether or not to re-install my Unraid build within ESXi or to make Unraid my base OS. Since I already have VM's running within Unraid I am leaning in that direction, but I know how VMware works and the ease of deploying on that hypervisor. My only concern is that passthrough of my GPU's will not work quite as well within ESXi versus Unraid. I want to make sure I don't have a huge impact on my gaming situation, however lite I game, I still want to be able to do that. What has your experience been with GPU Passthrough in ESXi and how has that impacted gaming? I'd also need to passthrough the P2000 into Unraid for transcoding which means I'd need one additional GPU for ESXi.

@jcloud Hey I appreciate you looking out for any other ways to help me out. I tried that and it didn't work for me. I sold some 'coins' and went 'full-retard' (Tropic Thunder quote) and splurged on a Intel i9-7980x using another MSI board and I can confirm I am in working order now, but I now have a Threadripper and board I no longer need. I'm sure everyone will think purchasing this processor is overkill but I work in IT and want to build a number of VM's for testing Domain-related and network policy changes so the additional horsepower works for me. Know anyone that wants a Threadripper?

Hi @iJumbo - Wondering if you managed to get everything working? I am running Threadripper on a X399 board and I can see my GTX 1060 but if I attempt to install drivers the VM restarts and GPU is still not linked to drivers correctly. Is your system still working fine?

Recently upgraded and immediately noticed several errors in logs that eventually lead to the log directory filling up with Unraid eventually freezing up altogether. Before that happens all seems to be running extremely well. I lose access to everything under the sun that has to do with UNraid occasionally while say a movie is being extracted from RAR files. It only seems to happen with every random file that is being extracted and not with every RAR file. Maybe every 20th and then everything freezes at which point if I were watching a movie/tv show using Plex, it will freeze until whatever is causing the issue finally passes and then my show will continue until it runs into another RAR file within that batch that will freeze things again. Anyone else having this issue and have a workaround or fix?

Noticed I am getting low voltage readings on my ASRock Rack board for sensors VCCM1/2. Is this something I need to concern myself with? If not, how do I ignore or remove the alerts I am getting on unRaid for these voltage readings?

I got a new board. Opted for the ASRock Rack EP2C602 which looks like the 4L/D16 with the exception of 8 DIMM slots versus 16 DIMMs. Anyways I installed everything and I am able to POST and get to my unRaid OS but for some reason during POST the Intel SAS cards are not finding the drives. The message I receive is "Adapter Disabled By User". Any thoughts on this? It was working perfectly fine in my i5 rig. I'll post pictures of my success once I have the last bit finished.

So you dident manage to do a bios recovery, with the newest release. I would try that again a couple af times before giving up, and make sure that the files on your usb is correct spelled with upper and lowercase characters. Also give it som time to complete. I'd like to have said that this worked but it didn't. No matter what I tried I was not able to upgrade the flash. All it ever does is the same thing each and every time I provide power to the board. (Click from speaker, leds flash, nothing else after that.) Only time I get beep errors now is when I remove all hardware from the board, which is what I expect it to do (1-5-2-1). I've tried two other USB thumb drives with no success. I've read over the Technical Specifications and can't find any additional workarounds. I've read a number of the Technical Advisories again nothing that really pertained to what I was dealing with. I have to chalk this one up to the board having been faulty from the beginning. Sucks as it was a giant waste of time AND after reassembling my old unRaid server I find three of my older drives decided they weren't going to spin up any more. I hadn't noticed any signs of issues and I swear those drives had only been used for roughly two years. They were Dell Enterprise drives. Oh well, time to start all over again and see what I have left on the other drives. I am still going to pick up another board and try again with these Xeon's but unfortunately can't join the lot of you yet. [emoji24] In due time I will be a dual Xeon retard and "everyone knows you never go full retard" but I guess we make exceptions to that rule. Lol.

BIOS version is v1.02.003 On Intel's site that is the very first factory firmware available for this board. Current is somewhere v2.0.?

Completely agree, I would never run them for sustained periods like this but since I had everything connected initially and then ran into this issue I had to clean everything in an effort to re-test. Again I would definitely never run this for any length of time without being next to it to monitor temperatures. The CPU's never got hot because the board is never truly turning on. You see the lights on and the fans run for a brief moment but that's it. No BIOS, no video output, nothing so after testing every other way I figured I'd reattach everything minus thermal paste and heatsinks just to test again. Anyways in the video the top left is not CPU AUX but CPU 2 PWR whereas Top Right is CPU 1 PWR and Bottom Right is Main PWR. Didn't think I needed to plug it in since there was no CPU 2 installed but I tested it that way as well with no luck. Right now I have both installed as I had it originally and still no luck and same exact results. It does not POST, no video, just the exact same results. Also it will not perform a BIOS Recovery. I've tried it with the latest firmware and the step up from where I am now. Only thing that works is BMC Web Console. In the console it reports seeing both CPUs even when they are not installed. It sees all 16 DIMMS occupied with other memory not the eight slots I have installed.Super weird issues with this motherboard. Not sure anymore what to do other than look for a replacement. Have you updated the bmc? And does the bmc confirm the bios-update? Is it possible to update from within the BMC Web Console? I could not find any option within the console. If the process differs than what I've tried when attempting to update or recover BIOS then no I haven't, but if it involves getting to the EFI bootup to do so, well then I'd say I'm SOL since the board doesn't boot.

jwegman/All - I have tried resetting BIOS according to the instructions within the Intel Technicial Specifications for this board but I also attempted removing the CMOS battery, just for the hell of it. I haven't heard any other 1-5-4-4 errors since the initial time it occurred. I also have attempted to perform the BIOS Recovery and follow its procedure as well, again with the same result as with everything else I've attempted. Nothing seems to work. I shot a short, roughly two minute video, (sorry for quality) and I hope it can show at least to some degree what I am seeing each and every time I power on the board. Lights, camera. action!

Tried it without memory and CPU and finally got a 1-5-2-1 beep error. I swapped CPU's and placed the CPU that was previously in CPU socket 2 in CPU socket 1 and placed two different memory sticks in A1 and B1. Same results with Click, spin and LED's. Also same Event Log results. Not sure what it is and I am beginning to think its time to shop for a new board. Any suggestions would be helpful whether for a new board or with what you think could be the issue.

Just tried powering on with none of the memory slots occupied. I would have thought I'd get a series of beeps but all i got was the same symptoms. Click, LED's and spinning of fans for a brief 2 seconds. Shouldn't the board alert me that there is no memory installed? Going to try without the CPU and see if I get beeps. Starting to feel like this is a faulty board.

I went down to one CPU and one memory after trying your suggestion and same results. As soon as I flick on the power manually from the PSU I see the Green and Blue LED as well as the Front Green LED. I hear the speaker make a single "Click" sound. The rear Blue and Green LED blink steadily and then stop and only the Green LED remains. After it settles, roughly 20-30 seconds the PSU fan, CPU fan turn on briefly alongside the same "Click" from the speaker. Happens two times like that and then nothing although Green LEDs are on. I am able to access the BMC console when the board is connected to my network.

Tested outside of case with a 650W PSU and it is doing the same thing. No beep just the CPU fans spinning initially when power is introduced and also the sound from the onboard speaker (sounds almost like a cricket) and then fans stop. LEDs remain on with initial Blue LED flashing and then solid Green LEDs Front and Back. Only things left on board are Memory, Processors and Noctua Heatsink and Fans. Memory is in Blue slots (A1, B1 C1, etc) nothing is secondary memory slots. Only have 64GB RAM.

I removed all SAS card (2), removed the RMM4LITE NIC, disconnected two SATA power cables from PSU and then reconnected to Power. No more Beeping but it still will not power on. Although even before I removed everything mentioned I was able to access the BMC console via the IP address. When I first reconnect it to Power and/or Press the Power Button it attempts to power up and I see the fans spin briefly and also hear a sound from the internal speaker and then it stops. I see Green lights on both the Front and Back LED's but still am unable to power up. Any suggestions? I will soon attempt to disconnect the motherboard and make sure it can run outside of the case in the event one of the motherboard mounting points is causing this issue.

Not sure if I found the correct PINS. I placed PWR BTN on PIn 11/13 on the Front Panel Header PIN-Out and HDD LED on 7/9 and PWR LED on 5/6. I've attached the screenshot of the Front Panel Header layout within the Intel S2600CP document. Not sure if this is the correct place for the PIN Outs coming from my case. Also getting Beep Code 1-5-4-4 and can't seem to figure out why. I tried resetting BIOS by removing the battery but it continues to beep after I reconnect to power. Any suggestions?

So I have the Nanoxia Deep Silence 6 tower and the Intel S2600CP. Where do I connect the Power LED +/- and Power Switch ends? I found where the HD LED goes but can't figure out where the others go? Please help! I am almost done with my build.

Damn it, I ordered the incorrect Noctua heatsink/fan (NH-D14) and didn't realize that I needed to also order the bracket alongside it (NM-I2011). Got that ordered and it should arrive today. Should have my rig built over the weekend. Can't wait.
