  1. Sorry if i wasnt clear, I just havent decided if i will host plex in a VM or docker yet, it will be one or the other. If i assign the GPU to one of those 2, will the system be able to boot or do i need to add another gpu in there?
  2. Hey all, Going to be building a new server soon. Primarily focused around Plex. Thinking about an Intel 14500 cpu to leverage the iGPU for plex. I cant remember, were there any issues passing the gpu through to a VM (or docker)? Ideally it would be my only gpu but i think that might have been an issue in the past?
  3. Thanks, that sounds promising. I really want to move back to unraid but only if i can get a 9th gen cpu to passthrough its igpu to a vm (to do plex transcoding)
  4. From what im reading, sounds like this isnt easy to get up and running still (I will have a 9900k for the build). Plan was to run a Plex Windows VM and then passthrough the igpu but it sounds like it might not be feasible?
  5. I was thinking of getting this NUC - https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856102209 Intel Core i7-8559U/Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 are what is in it And my hope would be to passthrough the iGPU to a Windows VM for a Plex server but it seems like it will be hit or miss on if this is going to work
  6. Ah and from what i read since i have an X cpu i want to use tdie
  7. still nothing edit: just to make sure im not messing something up, this is my output when i run sensors k10temp-pci-00c3 Adapter: PCI adapter Tdie: +42.5°C (high = +70.0°C) Tctl: +52.5°C I assumed thats my HBA but i wanted to make sure edit2: not sure how i managed it but detect wasnt working, but i typed in it87 hit save, then hit load drives and now when i run sensors from the console i get it8792-isa-0a60 Adapter: ISA adapter in0: +0.80 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +2.78 V) in1: +0.60 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +2.78 V) in2: +1.06 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +2.78 V) +3.3V: +1.68 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +2.78 V) in4: +1.80 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +2.78 V) in5: +1.50 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +2.78 V) in6: +2.78 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +2.78 V) ALARM 3VSB: +1.67 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +2.78 V) Vbat: +1.68 V temp1: +39.0°C (low = +127.0°C, high = +127.0°C) sensor = thermistor temp2: -55.0°C (low = +127.0°C, high = +127.0°C) sensor = Intel PECI temp3: +30.0°C (low = +127.0°C, high = +127.0°C) sensor = thermistor temp1/2/3 dont seem to change at all
  8. got it installed but when i click 'detect' nothing happens (and i have perl installed) for reference, motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. - X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING-CF Cpu: Ryzen 7 2700X
  9. Hey all, Just curious if there is anyway built in or on the roadmap to monitor cpu temps? and if not is there a plugin thats compatible with the latest version that would work. I did see a post that mentioned opening a terminal and typing sensors but that only gives me the temp of my HBA
  10. So I've been using the ups for a while now and its been great except for the only thing i seem to be missing is when there is an event (power loss, voltage dip, whatever) that I dont know exactly what the event was. If i plug it into my windows laptop (the usb cable from the ups) I can install their software and get that info but obviously i like having it tied into unraid. Any thoughts on how to accomplish both? Pass through the ups to a VM? monitor it over the network? something else?
  11. Yeah it should have come with a usb cable, you will need to connect that from the UPS to the server (there should be a usb type B port on the back of the UPS for this, not the type A ports on the front)
  12. cool, thanks for all the help
  13. Thanks, I still gotta mess around with getting the VM's to gracefully power down first. Not the end of the world if they get forced off (the array is my primary concern) but it will be nice to figure out
  14. Everything combined is only drawing about 100w. But yeah i have it set to either 15% or 10m left right now. I wont enable it, but whats bad about the "turn off after shutdown" on cyberpower?
  15. Got my UPS today looks like ill get about 65 minutes on UPS (router + modem + server) Just curious do you guys use the 'turn off ups after shutdown' ? (especially curious if you have a cyberpower unit)
  16. Can anyone help me identify the card i have below. I think it is a LSI SAS 9240-4i but i wanted to confirm. If it is, can i crossflash it? All of the stuff i see mentions the -8i but not the -4i. Can i still flash it to a 9211-8i IT (-4i?)
  17. Thank you both, ill give the cyberpower a shot then
  18. About to buy a UPS because i am sick of power flickering and then having to do a 15hr parity check lol. Had good luck with Cyberpower in the past and was looking at https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16842102134 but i wasnt sure how compatibility was with unraid and if i should stick with APC in this case? Ideally would like it to have my VM's shutdown (ubuntu and windows) and then have unraid cleanly shutdown if power goes out for more than like 5 minutes
  19. winner winner chicken dinner reboot did the trick (i did even try the rescan option before the reboot and that didnt work) Thank you! And thanks everyone else that helped as well
  20. Well it doesnt list a FS anymore but i still cant do anything with it. I see the "run with correct flag option" but that no luck
  21. Do you think it would be worthwhile to make a post in the general section to see if there is another way to wipe it with unraid. My windows machine is my laptop so i cant really pop the drive in that (and i do not have a sata to usb adapter). Seems silly that i would need windows to wipe the drive in order to put it back here
  22. Is there anything i can do to get it out of read only mode. I just want to wipe the drive and start fresh
  23. hmm well thats odd. It was in my old unraid server (i built a new one from scratch) and i pulled it out of that and plugged it in here edit: not sure if this matters but due to the some odd hardware setup in my old system the drive was on a LSI RAID card and exported as a single RAID0 device (bad idea i know but long story). Could that be causing an issue?
