Does anyone have any good UPS recommendations? I have used APC in the past and the batteries seem to fail within a year.

Thanks to all for helping. I went back into the BIOS and made some adjustments and now the boot USB works. Thanks again.

I have tried several "high quality" 4 GB USBs (SanDisk Cruzer and Verbatum) but neither one will boot. I have booted other non Windows OS on the same Mobo. The mobo is an Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 with an AMD FX8350 chip. Any suggestions?
