  1. @limetech does any of the official Unraid developers ever take a look in the feature request section?
  2. Thanks for the hint with the Syslog Notify Script, didnt know that this exists till now. On the other hand i ask myself why such a useful function is not included in unRaid. At least in my case it didnt work that way. Stopped the array with the metadata corrupted FS, rstarted the array without repairing it and unRaid did not complain. Wonder why there is no word of any official unraid developer till now. Thats a real problem.
  3. Yeah that would be a good idea!
  4. And thats a serious problem. I am still reconstruction which files got lost etc. I know a Raid is no backup, that correct, but if a filesystem error accours a want to be informed of that.
  5. Thats the way i do it with Borg Backup. The only bad thing is if files vanish because of such a corruption an you are not notified of it.
  6. Great seems that i lost some files. Just a quick questions, i think unraid is working on block level. So the parati also reflects the FS curruption, right? So a rebuild of the Drive would be useless.
  7. Yesterday i had a problem where the XFS Filessystem of one of my disks went bad. There was some metadata corrupted which i have only recognized because there were files missing and directory listings didnt work correctly. When i have looked in the syslog there were some red lines telling me i have to use xfs_repair to solve that problem. That worked besides of the extra work i had fishing out my files out of the lost+found folder. What i thought is strange is that i didnt get a notification of the bad state of the fs. So i could have maybe worked on for days without taking the neccessary measures. Is there any way to implement a notification when something like this occours?
  8. Okay than i get you wrong. Maybe something that should be considered because it is something that is present in the syslog.
  9. Didnt get any althought Notifications are working correctly. But the drive also was not labeled faulty by unraid.
  10. Hi there, is it normal you dont get a notification if there is a files system corruption in unRaid? Had some Problems yesterday. Wanted to move some Files on the CLI and the listing of a folder didnt appear. Lookes at the Syslog and there were some red lines telling me about a metadata corruption on a drive and that i had to run xfs_repair. Okay did that, had a lot of files and folders in lost+found and quite a bit of "fun" partially restoring the from backup or move them back to their originally space. What wonders is that i didnt get a notification about that quite big issue. Normally i get notifications for everything.
  11. Could you please add the function of the S3 Sleep Script into the Core of unRaid. Althought it might not work for everybody, it would be a great addition for all users which live in Countrys other than the US where energy prices are much higher and users which care for the environment who think it is simply dumb letting a server run 24/7 when not needed. See also here:
  12. So constant gambling upgrading your server.
  13. Which 15 do you use? I use S3Sleep, Community Applications and Unassigend devices. And i think that are the most common.
  14. That is not the point! There simply is no "official" solution which keeps up with the changes mode to unRaid core. With every new Version of unRaid something breaks with these plugins. Because there is no free Version of unRaid anymore or free spare licenses for dev's those plugins always run behind the official unRaid Releases. So why not simply include such a feature? The excuses for not doing it are quite lame.
  15. "I would like to see less discussion about the inevitable but more action." Couldnt have expressed that better!
  16. Nobody wants to make it default or to force people tu use it. There are many other features like Networkbonding etc. which only a tiny bit of users use, and it is included. From the German Community i know that many use S3 Sleep, simply because power is expensive here, and people have another mindset about Climate Change etc. like in the US. And yes sometimes it does not work, especially on professional Hardware. For many others it works flawless for years. Unraid now already has a status flag for spindown disks etc. The afford including it would not be that high. And if it is useless for most you dont have to fear the number of support tickets, or simply state something like: Might or might not work depending on your hardware. But not even considering it, is not a good decision. But okay with never even got an official statement about it.
  17. Climate change is progressing. When do we see an official S3 Sleep function in unRaid @limetech Wireguard also made it into the unraid base althought the system was never intended to be exposed to the internet
  20. Was something recently changed in this Image? Using it for over a year but in the past couple of weeks it seems that the cron runs quite random. Normally it should rum at 18:00 every day, but now it sometimes simply runs the script when the server comes from sleep etc. Anyone also experienced this?
  21. Same Problem here with unRaid 6.11.5. My Debian cant connect anymore, but it show that line in the logs.
  22. Yeah seems so. But the stick is definately dead, couldnt format at my Laptop after all.
  23. Okay the Thumbdrives died yesterday, after 9 years. After a Reboot of the Server i tried to install an plugin update which failed because the Stick went read only. A bit strange that unRaid didnt recognized that until i tried to update the Plugins. Nevertheless, a had my spare thumb drive right here, copied a recent Backup onto it, did the Key replacement procedure and was back online. A new USB2.0 Transcend Stick is on the way so i have a new spare when needed.
  24. I know that the Marvell Controllers have a bad reputation but the stone aged Adaptec AAR-1430SA i am using since more than 7 years is really bullet proof, even when using S3 Sleep etc. So yeah its kind of a gamble. Maybe there would be a magical UEFi setting that would make the ASM1166 work, but if have no time to try.
  25. Yep i know that thread also already commented there.
