  1. It sure was. I really appreciate this. I had a lightning strike about 2 weeks ago and it fried everything that was connected via ethernet from my cable modem. I had to replace my motherboard because it fried the ethernet ports but everything else was still functional, I didn't even think to check the time and date when I put a replacement board on.
  2. I upgraded from 6.6.6 to 6.7.2 a few minutes ago and afterwards, my cache drive wouldn't mount without formatting. I thought no biggie, I formatted, restored from my appdata backup, deleted the docker image file, went to install my first docker and got this error (which I get if I try to install any docker) Error: error pulling image configuration: Get https://production.cloudflare.docker.com/registry-v2/docker/registry/v2/blobs/sha256/09/092b68db983d362179d0f2f6d7c520605e3b624e719c1f77725ff57e2126c478/data?verify=1562217142-U%2BKfVSN6HkEVZiL4UDSGqLKbcAs%3D: x509: certificate has expired or is not yet valid It's probably an easy fix but I'm not sure what it is so any help would be greatly appreciated.
  3. I recently upgraded my gaming machine so my old motherboard an asrock x97 extreme 6 is now my new unraid board. I now have a Samsung 950 pro nvme m.2 256GB drive on the motherboard that currently isn't doing anything. I currently have a 850 EVO 500GB as my cache drive. The question I have is should I use both the drives in combination for cache or just the NVME? I do not have any plans for any type of a VM on this machine so I wouldn't need to save it for that.
  4. I have my unraid on an UPS as well as my router (different UPS). Here's my delima/question, I'm in Houston and I'm going to be without power for an indeterminate amount of time. I didn't think ahead and get some media off of my server and on to my iPad before I lost power, so here's my question. Would it be safe to power up my unraid server (If I did the math right I should have about 20 minutes of sustainable power) and my router hook my laptop via ethernet and transfer media then do a safe shutdown?
  5. I have no more excuses then, ordered a APC Back-UPS 600VA from Amazon just now.
  6. As of now I don't think there are any plans to do beyond 2 PCI-e slots due to newer cards not being designed for more than 2 card crossfire or SLI setups so I think you might be out of luck in that realm. Also because there is no on-board graphics you would need a fifth video card (nothing fancy) for unraid itself. And here's some food for thought as the Ryzen still doesn't seem to beat Intel on overall gaming performance. http://www.pcgamer.com/the-amd-ryzen-7-review/ I think you'd be better off building an Intel system as it would have the on-board graphics and the 4 PCI-e that you would need.
  7. I'm assuming you all are using a docker or plugin to control the UPS? If so which one do you recommend?
  8. I'm using a FX-8350 with good success. A word of caution though about ram, whatever you decide to do in this realm make sure you pick up the largest amount you can in a 2 dimm setup. I had major issues with my server until I figured out that the 990FXA boards don't play nice with 4 dimms vs 2. Let me know how you like your board. I'm looking to upgrade to something with 8 ports.
  9. So after a memtest I was getting some memory errors so I pulled the dimms I suspected were bad and I'm running a new memtest. So far, so good but I'm letting it run another 12 hours for the full 48 again. I'll rebuild my cache drive after and hopefully the problem will be solved. Since I'm going to be using just one cache drive and don't have plans in the immediate future to add a second would I be better off running XFS on the cache drive? I do have a question about the ram. I had 24GB with 2 8GB dimms and 2 4GB dimms. I took out the 2 4GB dimms which leaves me the 16GB. I was reading in this forum (I think)that its better to run 2 sticks vs 4 sticks. Will 16 be adequate for running plex, couch potato, sickrage, duck dns, deluge, and any future dockers, or would I be better served to add the 8GB back in once I get replacements from Kingston?
  10. I'll run memtest for the next 48 and see what that turns up. I've got another SSD laying around so I may throw that in and take out the current drive. I was using old cables and actually replaced all them over the weekend with new cables so I'll double check my seating. I'll let you know what the memtest turns up. Thanks!
  11. Not sure about the HP iLO but the usb for the unraid server does not count against your device count.
  12. 2nd on the parity drive, it can save you a lot of headaches down the road. Also depending on how much data you will be moving at a time a larger ssd might be useful. Otherwise the rest of the hardware looks more than adequate unless you plan to stream more than 2 streams of media content at a time, then I would recommend a better cpu.
  13. So my server had been crashing recently and then we tracked it to a corrupt cache drive which I cleared and started over with. Today my server has been crashing again. I'm not very good at reading logs but from what I can tell it might have something to do with btrfs which leads me to believe its the cache drive again but I'm not sure what would be corrupting it. Here's all my logs and screenshot of the monitor when I plugged it in. Any help would be greatly appreciated. FCPsyslog_tail.zip server-diagnostics-20170215-1939.zip
  14. Yeah that would work. What you'd have to do is reassign the cache drive, then change it's format to XFS and then it'll format it. Leaving it at btrfs will not give you the option to format. Generally, you only want btrfs if you have (or will have) a cache pool. But the system has to be stable to use btrfs. XFS is more forgiving, but won't allow you the option of a pool. (If you want the cache pool, what you're going to do is set it to XFS, start the array and format the drive, then stop the array, set it back to btrfs and restart the array to format it back to btrfs) And thanks for the beer PS Look into setting up CA Appdata Backup. Would allow you to restore contents of docker appdata following something like this... Perfect. I don't plan on using a pool so I'll go XFS. It's funny you mention the Appdata backup, I was at work today thinking I should back up my appdata just in case and I come home and the just in case had already struck.
  15. The cache drive has corruption on it that is throwing the system for a loop (btrfs doesn't respond well to hard crashes / reboots) You'll be able to get to webUI by changing the file config/disk.cfg on the flash drive. change startArray="yes" to be startArray="no" and then reboot. To fix the corruption, wait for someone more familiar with btrfs than myself to help you out... That's exactly what is happening. I started the array without the cache drive and it started fine. Could I just wipe that cache drive (I know i'd have to reinstall my dockers) and just start fresh with it? Also sent you a beer
  16. Recently upgraded a few parts in my server a few days ago, everything seemed to be good until I had multiple crashes today. I was unable to acess gui or telnet so I hard to unclean shutdown. After that I tried restarting my array but it just hangs on the main screen saying mounting disks. I am able to telnet in and copy the log which is attached. If anyone has any ideas I'd really appreciate it. server-diagnostics-20170213-2213.zip
  17. I'll pop it open and check the power I added another drive recently and had to use an extension for the power on the Kingston which is probably the issue there. I'll run memtest after I check out my cabling. Thanks so much!
  18. Fix common errors gave me the following message:Your server has issued one or more call traces. This could be caused by a Kernel Issue, Bad Memory, etc. You should post your diagnostics and ask for assistance on the unRaid forums So here I am. Here's the call trace from the log and I am attaching my diagnostics zip as well. I'm not sure what a call trace is or if this is something to be concerned about so any guidance would be greatly appreciated. 19. I currently use the A88X Pro which is similar to the A88XM. I've had really good luck with it. Currently I'm running a 860K and have no issues.
  20. I picked up a used R5 case I plan to use for my unraid server but it's missing the optical cage drive which I need. Wondering if anyone out there may have a spare one they would be willing to part with. I can do $20 for the cage and $15 for shipping. Thanks for taking the time to read.
