  1. thank you both, apologies I didn't realise there were different kinds of parity check otherwise I would have taken further note before it finished earlier this AM. Interestingly enough I took off Plex library from disk 1 (and for testing purposes put it into RAM for time being) and all the errors immediately disappeared - I have changed that disk for the 3TB WD Red I mentioned earlier and that's adding itself now. The console is not showing any errors on any other disks so hopefully as you mentioned disk5 is a false positive (for the moment anyway, but will keep an eye on it) I rescued all the media off disk 1 before I took the disk out, it looks ok but will keep in mind I may need to re-rip any/all of it. Thanks again
  2. trurl advised to create this as I'm getting 300 read errors (compared to 4 million reads and nearly 1/4 million writes) on a disk 1 of my array which also happens to be location of the plex library. I think , but I cant be positive, that these errors only occurred once I moved the library onto this disk recently. Ive attached the diagnostics from the server also which trurl identified some SMART issues (although the server passes health checks on the diagnostics page for this disk?) Happy to take the disk out of the array and replace it with a 3TB WD Red drive - parity is still 12 or so hours from completing so wont be able to do this until tomorrow some time hopefully. Any further advice appreciated tower-diagnostics-20160219-2131.zip
  3. Disk one is showing 277 errors (compared to nearly 4,000,000 reads and 235,000 writes - and I only remember them appearing since I set the plex library to disk 1 a few days ago) It is running hot (45 degrees) but no errors at all on the dashboard, and smart is looking ok. (it also says "smart overall health - passed " on the attributes page of that disk) Have a spare 3TB wd red drive I can replace it with as soon as the parity check finishes https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=46739.0 (support thread link)
  4. I read something about disk shares, but they "appear " to be working (I only have Movies and TV when I did the upgrade, and it happily created Plexmediaserver when requested as per the above posts while installing the plug in I'm hoping the diagnostics zip is attached - many thanks trurl (Global disk shares is "no", user shares is "yes" - both are greyed out, I'm guessing because array is running)? I don't quite understand how both shares are actually available externally but not enabled - surely this doesn't make sense? Probably best to wait until the parity check has finished to stop the array and change disk shares? (the other thing that's misleading , from a novice perspective, is that on the share tab itself everything is green - when the shares are actually not active) tower-diagnostics-20160219-2131.zip
  5. Thank you PhAzE, but after completing this its still doing the same thing (and strangely the re-creating of the library took over 10hrs+ for 520 or so items, which seems incredibly long time to me compared to previous times Ive set up plex). Pressing play directly from the movie wall, I get the fan art as a backdrop before it hangs - if I try to go to the fan art (before planning to press play as it were) I never get the chance as it hangs immediately with a grey screen and nothing at all appears indefinitely. Ive tried with 5 or 6 films with the same results. I can still access any film directly from a command line using either IP or "tower" and the share name and that works - however before upgrading to 6.x I could also access each data disk directly via this method as well, but I cant now. No big deal, just thought it might be worth mentioning (like ip\flash, ip\disk2 etc , flash I can still access but none of the 8 data disks) The GUI and plug in info all look reasonable and I'm guessing Unraid itself is pretty happy otherwise I wouldn't be able to resolve anything or GUI wouldn't be accessable. It is doing a parity check at the moment (another 12 hrs to go ) but from what I recall this shouldn't stop me playing media (it hasn't in the past anyway) - when I mentioned it earlier this week no parity check was required / was running so this certainly wasn't the issue a couple of days ago
  6. Unfortunately its still hanging before playback begins on any / every film. I have confirmed that playback through command line to the share or the correct disk works as expected, and from what I can tell Unraid itself is happy too. Library appears to have been created fully, but maybe I shouldn't have created a new share just for that, and should put the library within the Movies share? (shouldn't make a difference but worth a try - although this will keep the whole array spinning permanently which isn't great I know)
  7. /mnt/disk1/Plexmediaserver/Library (and it appears to have created it where I expected) (Ive just remembered why I didn't originally put the library on a data disk.........it never goes to sleep/stop spinning, and therefore the parity disk as well...which is why I thought a USB key would be better choice for the library)
  8. Unfortunately I don't have space for a cache drive, thank you for everyone's help I changed the library directory to a data disk temporarily and plug in reflected the changes with confirmation of "Library is now located on physical disk" before the reboot. However when I re-started the array after the reboot, and plugin restarted its not finding the library - should I be concerned about this? I'm happy to re-add the share manually but don't want to do the wrong thing just in case Cheers again
  9. Sorry if I'm being really stupid (I thought of myself as a "technical" person before I started reading this thread :'( ) I have been using Unraid 4.7 for the last few years up until this week, when I finally got around to doing a clean install of 6.1.8 which so far seems to have gone smoothly and the parity check has completed yesterday evening (so 15TB of BR rips is still good which is a relief) The only thing I run on it is Plex and somehow found myself at this thread as I didn't want to mess around with dockers or anything like that. The plug in installed perfectly and appears to be running , library was found and added all 500 + titles (with a little manual sorting at the end, but that's understandable) - but I got completely lost with the necessity of changing port numbers......or rather I understand why, I just don't know Unraid well enough to know how to find valid / unused port numbers I can use instead. Even a quick google and search here didn't give me anything to go off). The above may well be why anytime I try and play a movie found in the new library, plex just hangs indefinitely - if that's the case (and I hope it is) , then totally understandable. The other item that has me confused (or maybe I'm just misreading what the plugin is telling me) - is the transcode and config directories both being on RAM when they have two completely different paths (I have 32GB ram so I'm happy with transcoding being in ram) Transcode directory - /tmp/Plexmediaserver Config directory - /usr/local/Plexmediaserver/config (to me this indicates its on the USB drive where Unraid itself is loaded from, which unless I'm wrong would be a perfect solution) but I also get the warning in the Information section saying both of the above are on the Ram drive? If I am reading it wrong - any way of saving the current library info before I reboot (after editing the go file of course for the port number addition) - rather than having plex do a fresh search and then doing the manual edits at the end? Many thanks
