  1. Looks like everything is back to normal.. Thanks..
  2. I am doing that .. its says 11.8% so far.. But was not sure if there was error or issue i was missing..
  3. I have gone through the troubleshoot guide What_do_I_do_if_I_get_a_red_X_next_to_a_hard_disk So interchanged the controller sata port with parity disk and also then changed the sata cable with the parity disk. But the parity disk looks to be working fine always. So is my disk having some issue. I looked at the syslogs and SMART logs, but could not figure out any obvious issues from it. Attached the logs, could anyone look at these logs and let me know. The issue is with 2TB HDD- "ST2000DL003". I am still in trial version. Appreciate your help.. tower-diagnostics-20170320-2328.zip
  4. Anybody .. Looks like the its DNS issue.. but does not make sense since cmd line ping to www.google.com works but not through IE browser...
  5. I had given up the idea of pfsense VM but i decided to try it again. So now i have setup pfsense VM with DHCP server working fine to internal VM and external devices. So i have 5 ports. eth0 - standalone unraid management, eth1 - WAN, eth2 - LAN, eth3 - wifi AP, eth4- towards unraid management. Yes i have, cable from eth4 to eth0 for Unraid management.. Pfsense is aware of only eth 1 - 4. Issue 1: But the problem is that the Windows VM created does not able to reach the internet or hold the IP address. What i mean is that I started Win 10 VM(not activated yet) and the IP was received and i was able to ping external(internet) and intranet IPs. But when i oprn the browser i cannot access anything, i.e, www.google.com or www.yahoo.com. Any idea why? How can solve this? Issue 2: Also i left the VM on for overnight, in the morning the IP was not anymore from the default pool , 192.168.1.x, it was of some 169.x.x.x subnet. And i was not able to reach the gateway even though the ipconfig showed the correct ip for gateway. I am assuming the IP is lost because pfsense did not reissue the ip, but i am not sure if that is so. But any recommendation to check where the problem could be ? I have am yet to try with other linux based VM to check the this behavior..<SOLVED> Issue 3: I have transmission plugin installed in Unraid. I am not sure how to use it now. I use the transmission plugin gui from my pc to connect to it before i set up the pfsense VM which was single IP. But now the eth0 ip is not connected to internet, as i have rule for traffic to flow only between eth 2 to eth 4(eth0). So should i allow the traffic to internet for it work ? or is there any other way? P.S: i know pfsene VM is not a good idea. But i want to try and make it work.
  6. Apologies if i did not communicate correctly in the first post about the missing router.. Regarding the GUI mode ,yes. To be exact boot into "OS UNRAID GUI mode" , the second option in boot selection in the list of "SAFE boot". The diagnostics given today was collected through ssh. Now the problem is resolved. Used another router and set static IP for the UNRAID and now everything is working.. i can even disconnect UNRAID from router and connect directly to the PC and access "tower.local" through webgui and viola works.. I agree something went wrong in networking config, but what was it is i have not yet figured out.. But it all starts working fine only when UNRAID got connected to internet(through the router) even before starting the array, i mean the webgui was fast and not issues.. I plan to add a 4 port NIC card to the server and get pfsense VM once again going on it, which I failed to get it working properly last time.. so to me pc to server ,1-on-1 connection is important if anything goes wrong.. If pfsense works this would be prefect solution for me(Nothing too serious , just a home lab)
  7. For starting the array right? or even to connect to webgui 1-on-1? I got friends router and got it connected.. now it is working fine.. I have one important query: If i buy the license and if i loose connectivity like it happened now, will i face the problem ,i.e, webgui not accessible or slow, if i connect directly to a PC ?
  8. Here you go.. Just so that you know the unraid is now standalone and not connected to internet. I say this b'coz before my router stopped it was working fine, only when i connected directly did it start behaving weirdly.. Also i tried to login to UNRAID GUI mode, even there i see its slow but not as slow as webgui.. tower-diagnostics-20170316-1918.zip
  9. Now i am not even able to login to the UI..
  10. Yeah .. i used to see that warning when the server was running also.. I logged in through safe boot.. anything specific i need to check? Also why is the broadcast ip empty? any idea.. root@Tower:~# ifconfig br0: flags=4163<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 10.10.10.5 netmask 255.255.255.248 broadcast 0.0.0.0
  11. I was able to download the diagnostics from the UI.. Its my first time i looking through this files.. So i am not sure what to look for or what could be the problem.. the only thing i can think of is by any chance is the DNS server assignment causing the issue.. I have attached the diagnostics, if possible do take a look and suggest a solution.. Edit: is it safe publish sys info in open public? for example the mac address etc.. tower-diagnostics-20170315-2332.zip
  12. Its in the tools section tab right? I am waiting for it. Its taking like forever.. Is it possible to retrieve from the shell?(ssh)
  13. I am trying to login to UNRAID Web gui but i am not able to do so. Before the issue occurred, i had set the ip of the server as 10.10.10.5/29 and my router end point was 10.10.10.1/29 . Now my router stopped working and so i decided to connect directly to the server from pc(osx) by setting the IP as 10.10.10.1/29. After this i can Ping the server(10.10.10.5), i can even ssh to the server and see the IP/netmask as expected. When type 10.10.10.5 on the url it prompts for the username/password but after that there is no response from the UNRAID or it take more than 10 min to login. How can I resolve this issue? Please help
  14. Sorry for multiple posts.. I dint want to create a new thread for the new issue.. How make the ports visible in VMs? Is there way to reset to factory default?
  15. Thanks 1812.. I will try some more things over the weekend. The whole idea was to get good hold of pfsense.. if nothing works, it good i did not buy the full version.. i will move on to esxi or go back to promox or even try arch linux.. EDIT: So basically i have given up on trying to make pfsense work on UNRAID.. Never ever going to try that not even vyos even though they have template. i have an old pentiumD lying around somewhere, will try to make it work on that.. hate having too many system in small room.. BUT that is still not my major problem anymore... None of the VMs already created or the new ones can be assigned a ports(attached screenshot). it does not show up in GUI.. but it does show up on console.. DO i have to reinstall UNRAID?
  16. So i have been trying out pfsense as VM over UNRAID.. and i have been having multiple issues as expected but now i have come to point which i am not getting anywhere.. Just to list down few of the initial problems i had: 1. Was not able to passthrough the Intel NIC card for the VM- pfsense only - it never booted up - I gave up on it and i am not too sad about the speeds so far.. 2. After bridging the 4 ports of the NIC and using it with pfsense, the first 2 port, WAN and LAN1 works perfectly fine but LAN2 and LAN3 does not work as in, i have enabled LAN1, LAN2 and LAN3 of IP's 192.168.1.x/24 192.168.2.x/24 and 192.168.3.x/24 with DHCP and the client devices get the IP but no traffic is possible, not even pings. I am assumed this is pfsense issue and raised a request there for support. https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=123332.0 After a lot of fiddling around, i got a particular scenario working as explained below. eth0 - UNRAID host connection - 10.10.10.1 eth1 - WAN - public IP eth2 - LAN1 - 192.168.1.1/24 eth3 - LAN2 - 192.168.2.1/24 wifi router - AP- connected to LAN1 - any device connected to the AP works fine. No issues. Laptop connected to LAN2- Works fine. Issue 1: Now I was trying to bring up VMs(WIN 10 & Ubuntu) on UNRAID with the bridge port of LAN2 for internet connectivity. Testing with Win 10 for now. The VM is getting the IP correctly. It is able to ping the LAN1 IP, devices connected to AP and WAN IP but not the external network/ISP modem/gateway IP. So no internet traffic... The funny thing is that the other devices cannot ping the VM,i.e, no response from VM on this. I want use wireshark on VM and check if the packets are reaching but no connectivity to download wireshark. The pfsense packet capture shows that packets are reaching the expected ports.. Issue 2: this is expected but i am trying find a solution. I want the UNRAID host also able to be connected to internet so that i can download the plugins etc, anyway to do that with existing topology without complicating it more? Any suggestions to solve the above issues with be really helpful..plz help.. thanks in advance..
  17. thanks xuare.. Never knew nvidia had TOS of this kind.. I have always used amd gpus and my experience has been good even though it was sometimes a hassel to get it working in linux, but that was many years back.. I will go with amd itself then.. Probably will be posting soon if i get into problem with rx480
  18. Sorry for the OT .. but since rx 480 was discussed here.. i am think of getting rx 480. But looking at the issues do you think I should consider a GTX 1060? in other words do you think you guys were better off with nvidia chipset?
  19. Thanks gridrunner.. Looks simple and I tried pretty much the same thing but the pfsense VM never boots up for me..
  20. how is dual and quad different? I am trying to passthrough quad PCIE nic card(the intel i35-t4 version- non-original)
  21. SO i idenentified the issue is only with enabling the NIC ports. If i disbale them it works fine. Any suggestions please.. error is seen only after i enable nic ports 1 or many.. 2016-12-21T03:48:54.790623Z qemu-system-x86_64: VFIO_MAP_DMA: -14 2016-12-21T03:48:54.790648Z qemu-system-x86_64: vfio_dma_map(0x2b9f750cfca0, 0xfc000000, 0x100000, 0x2b9f6e633000) = -14 (Bad address) qemu: hardware error: vfio: DMA mapping failed, unable to continue Domain id=19 is tainted: host-cpu char device redirected to /dev/pts/0 (label charserial0) 2016-12-21T03:42:27.996429Z qemu-system-x86_64: terminating on signal 15 from pid 5924 2016-12-21 03:42:28.196+0000: shutting down 2016-12-21 03:48:54.294+0000: starting up libvirt version: 1.3.1, qemu version: 2.5.1, hostname: Tower Domain id=20 is tainted: high-privileges Domain id=20 is tainted: host-cpu char device redirected to /dev/pts/0 (label charserial0) 2016-12-21T03:48:54.790623Z qemu-system-x86_64: VFIO_MAP_DMA: -14 2016-12-21T03:48:54.790648Z qemu-system-x86_64: vfio_dma_map(0x2b9f750cfca0, 0xfc000000, 0x100000, 0x2b9f6e633000) = -14 (Bad address) qemu: hardware error: vfio: DMA mapping failed, unable to continue EDIT: Gave up trying to passthough NIC ports.. reverted back to old method of virtual interfaces.. 22. Hi.. I am trying to get the pfsense VM up but for some reason the VM does not start, it just shuts down.. I have followed steps of jonp mentioned in the post- https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=39638.0 to get the ethernet port available. The logs does not makes sense to me at all.. Can someone help me with this or even get better logs.. 23. i dont think this issue is with newer amd cards.. i have an old ATI 5770 and i all i get is blank black screen.. no boot up or anything.. but if i move it vnc mode all works fine .. EDIT: Just in case anyone reads this in future.. the issue was not with the card in my case.. It was due to PCIe ACS option being enabled.. on disabling it everything was normal..
  24. Thanks kode54.. New to mac here.. I have no clue between them..
