  1. upgraded from 6.11.5 to 6.1`2.rc5.

after start array unraid shows me that every disk in arrays is "returned to normal utilization level", what is weird because most of the disks are filled over 80%, notifications is set to 80% and on critical; 90%.

But now every disk is showing green...

    rest is running fine 👌

Kernel Helper is no longer available, and not to be used at all and should be uninstalled

plugin removed, i saw that the mellanox and nvidia plugin itself have the same info.

A normal reboot will be considered unclean if the array did not get stopped before the shutdown timers activated.

it might be worth reading this section of the online documentations accessible via the ‘Manual’ link at the bottom of the GUI.

this is the first time this happens to me with an update... will check the documentation.

  3. finally got the time to upgrade to RC4 (from RC2)

    update when "fine".

    - before reboot the unraid kernel hlper was warning me that the driver download has failed, but after reboot the latest driver is installed... 🙄

    - unraid detected an unclean shutdown and doing a parity sync... its wasn't unclean, it was just a normal reboot :S

    Strictly speaking

/tmp is not a standalone filesystem - its part of /, but / is also 1/2 total ram by default, unless you adjusted it.

just checked and indeed its 1/2 of the RAM. i always know that the / is full Disk (with unRAID RAM) but not with unRAID anymore...

but still i prefer to limit the temp usage for docker containers, its better to let a docker container crash then have unRAID crash ;)

I solved this to create a folder inside the /tmp, so in my docker config i have this set for t.ex Plex: /tmp/Plex/

Then Plex creates it's needed folders inside the /tmp/Plex folder with the correct permissions.

You know that manual created files in /tmp will be gone after reboot? unless you created a script that create the file at boot...

i personally recommended not to use /tmp for Plex etc. its better to use /dev/shm/

/tmp is full RAM, /dev/shm/ is 1/2 RAM..

  6. updated form 6.9.2 to 6.10rc1, Update when fine, everything came back online without any problem.

    but some things:

    - that "sign in" button is pretty big, would love to have an option to hide it. or better; disable it fully from my server!

    - why do i have in folder on my usb stick called "dynamix.my.servers" (boot/config/plugins)??? i didn ever touch this plugin, would never do, i don't use cloud stuff, this fiels like my server is now doing background crap to the "cloud" (i am going to monitor this)

    - under: settings > Management Access, there are options for "My server", i didn't install the plugin! (isn't this 'UPC' ?? )

    - looks like not every plugin is ready for this version, FixCommonProblems isn't showing any old ignored warning anymore, extended scan take pretty long, 2 hours and it isn't finished yet. (previous it take not more then 30 minutes...) nerdpack isn't fully working, previous i had idle3-tool and powertop installed, on 6.10 they aren't installed anymore.

This is still true (assuming you have a registered version, not trial).

You can happily keep using Unraid without the UPC functionality, but you will loose convenience when something goes wrong and your registration key or configuration gets lost.

i have backups for that ;) so no problem. ( i hate the "cloud", its just someone else computer...)

but after reading this its looks like it not possible to replace the USB key without using UPC, i dont wanna combine my unraid keys with my unraid forum account...

Someone please help me understand this?  What if I don't wanna associate my keys  and my home installs with my unraid forum account?  I really like my privacy honestly and what is is my home have no business being associated with any cloud or external servers.  This is a very slippery slope and I just don't like it.  Is there an option to continue be offline just the way I am right now? I just don't want to be part of this new ecosystem unraid is creating.  I trust my privacy and I trust no one, I am sorry.....  And there’s absolutely no reason why you can’t support both ways of activating / running unraid. I should not be forced to connect with you if I have a valid key.

    "UPC and My Servers Plugin

The most visible new feature is located in the upper right of the webGUI header.  We call this the User Profile Component, or UPC.  The UPC allows a user to associate their server(s) and license key(s) with their Unraid Community forum account.

Starting with this release, it will be necessary for a new user to either sign-in with existing forum credentials or sign-up, creating a new account via the UPC in order to download a Trial key.  All key purchases and upgrades are also handled exclusively via the UPC"

i wonder too, i don't like this, i prefer the old way, unraid works fully offline is what i like. no telemetry/tracking  API crap...

this UPC is a big RED FLAG for me, i dont like it and would never going to use it.

i was planning on a second server, but after reading this it wont be unraid, but i am going Truenas scale...

i going to monitor this, and if its going this way i going to move my main server also away from unraid.

NO tracking/telemetry/API crap on my server! luckily i have a pretty good firewall with DPI and IDS/IPS, going to monitor this stuff...

  9. i have this problem too! changing the temperature setting on one disk and then change smart setting on an another disk resets the first disk to the default settings... removing the smart-one.cfg does NOT fix this!

the smart attribute Notification settings are elso broken... (my telegramBOT can confirm this.)

    noting visible in the logbooks...

    edit:

manual edit the smart-one.cfg did work!! but i cant edit something in the GUI or the smart-one.cfg file will be over written...

  10. ohh, i didn't know that edit the temperatures settings are also broken, i had this working fine under 6.9.0 and the 6.9RC releases. i see that the temperature setting on my NVME ssd is also reset to default...

removing the smart-one.cfg does NOT solve this!

If built in features REQUIRE CA to enable, it's time that CA came configured by default. Maybe you just have to check a box to use it or something.

you can manual install the plugin, no need to use the Community app plugin...

To install this plugin, paste the following URL into the Plugins / Install Plugin section:

Just randomly went to server page and on 6.8.3 the drives are spun down like they should be, I am waiting for final release and maybe wait for 6.9.1 to fix the bugs not caught. Screenshot_20210123-082205_Chrome.thumb.jpg.932ecb106df7a982ee22747904144587.jpg

6.8.3 and 6.9 beta35 were fine with spin down. but RC2 it won't. all the settings are unchanged, only with rc2 they wont spin down.

i have seen messages that it will be fixed in rc3...

I agree, however I find using the binhex Krusader docker to work pretty well in GUI mode.

i know Krusader, but i just not want to use a 3rd party thing for a pretty basic gui OS thing, and sometimes a docker container kills the /mnt/user share so Unraid is than pretty much unusable... (looking at you Radarr...fixed by change the appdata mount to direct disk route)

  14. It would be really awesome to see a File Browser in the Unraid GUI boot (yep i use it, and love it!), cut/copy files through terminal/ssh is going to irritate me ;)

and working though the VM or an another device is way to slow, just want to do file control stuff direct on Unraid it self.

What do you mean by this?

Its a build with running my network controller (unifi) its is my multimedia server, VPN, and my desktops is running on it (VM) currently i am typing this on my daily VM. so it need some stability ;) (i don't have an fully backup of it, just the most important stuff is backup up, i trust the parity system)
oh, and it fully watercooled :D

the biggest problem what i currently got is the reset bug from the vega gpu. the Threadripper rocks!

  16. currently am not upgrading to the 6.7.0 RC because my build is a all-in-one system, but can someone tell me the well know reset bug of the Vega56/64 graphic cards is fixed with this 4.19 kernel?

The build is a Threadripper 1950 system, wits controlling the network, multiple Docker containers and my desktop VM's,  so i feels a little bit curious for upgrading the system :S
