  1. I wouldn't judge your dumbness by anything I do, I set a really low bar
  2. So if someone had done the same as this and is now in to a 30 hr rebuild of what was a 1tb drive could it be expect that that someone has done it wrong? Its done loads of writes but i cant actually see any data in there at the moment. I was replacing an older disc and also wanted to update the file system, so have done the same. I still have the working older disk, so i could just stop the current rebuild, use unbalance to move the data to elsewhere, then just format the new disk and install? If i move the data around do i need to check parity afterwards? Dont mean to hijack just spotted this thread as being recent.
  3. Well daniel is me so it could well be used in unraid somewhere. To be honest i cant remember. I'll change this alias in the .conf and see how that goes. I just dont know what permissions I need to allow in the 'Camera' folder so that it can be written to by anybody?
  4. I've found this also, in the /var/log/ftp.log 192.168.0.150 UNKNOWN nobody [18/Jul/2011:16:33:41 +0100] "USER daniel" 331 - 192.168.0.150 UNKNOWN userftp [18/Jul/2011:15:33:41 +0000] "PASS (hidden)" 230 - 192.168.0.150 UNKNOWN userftp [18/Jul/2011:15:33:41 +0000] "CWD /" 250 - 192.168.0.150 UNKNOWN userftp [18/Jul/2011:15:33:41 +0000] "CWD /BACKUPS/Camera/" 550 - 192.168.0.150 UNKNOWN userftp [18/Jul/2011:15:33:41 +0000] "MKD /BACKUPS/Camera/" 550 - 192.168.0.150 UNKNOWN userftp [18/Jul/2011:15:33:41 +0000] "CWD /BACKUPS/Camera/" 550 - 192.168.0.150 UNKNOWN userftp [18/Jul/2011:15:33:41 +0000] "TYPE I" 200 - 192.168.0.150 UNKNOWN userftp [18/Jul/2011:15:33:41 +0000] "PASV" 227 - 192.168.0.150 UNKNOWN userftp [18/Jul/2011:15:33:41 +0000] "STOR Trigger_1_20110718162511.avc" 550 - 192.168.0.150 UNKNOWN userftp [18/Jul/2011:15:33:41 +0000] "QUIT" 221 - 192.168.0.150 UNKNOWN nobody [18/Jul/2011:16:36:13 +0100] "USER daniel" 331 - 192.168.0.150 UNKNOWN userftp [18/Jul/2011:15:36:13 +0000] "PASS (hidden)" 230 - 192.168.0.150 UNKNOWN userftp [18/Jul/2011:15:36:13 +0000] "CWD /" 250 - 192.168.0.150 UNKNOWN userftp [18/Jul/2011:15:36:13 +0000] "CWD /BACKUPS/Camera/" 550 - 192.168.0.150 UNKNOWN userftp [18/Jul/2011:15:36:14 +0000] "MKD /BACKUPS/Camera/" 550 - 192.168.0.150 UNKNOWN userftp [18/Jul/2011:15:36:14 +0000] "CWD /BACKUPS/Camera/" 550 - 192.168.0.150 UNKNOWN userftp [18/Jul/2011:15:36:14 +0000] "TYPE I" 200 - 192.168.0.150 UNKNOWN userftp [18/Jul/2011:15:36:14 +0000] "PASV" 227 - 192.168.0.150 UNKNOWN userftp [18/Jul/2011:15:36:14 +0000] "STOR Trigger_1_20110718162743.avc" 550 - 192.168.0.150 UNKNOWN userftp [18/Jul/2011:15:36:14 +0000] "QUIT" 221 - Looks like its trying to write the file to a folder but cant, permissions? The folder already exists tho? So do i just want the client to just write its info to the location specified by the proftpd.conf?
  5. I can specify the username and password. I've had a look through the log files but there isnt anything obvious to me (not surprisingly). Do you see anything? Having had a look around the /mnt directory i've found several failed test attempts to write to the ftp, this must mean i've been close at some point? proftpd.txt syslog.txt
  6. I've been trying to get this to work for two days now without much success. It seems that i can log into the ftp using a windows based client but i cant write to the directory. Can someone take a look at the following and give me a hand, i'm really struggling This is the permissions bit for the appropriate folder:- drwxrwxrwx 4 root root 120 Jul 18 11:43 Camera/ and this is the proftpd.conf content:- #To really apply changes reload proftpd after modifications. 7. well there's a good reason not to shutdown then! I do that via the ps -ef command and then a 'kill' the appropriate process? Then i can powerdown?
  8. right, all up and running again, had to install MySQL and put the install on disk2. Does this mean it will not spin down now? Does this also mean that I cant powerdown unRAID, without having to endure a day of reinstallation? :'(
  9. nah, same shit, different day: - Warning: World-writable config file '/boot/apps/slimserver/Cache/my.cnf' is ignored root@MicroServer:/boot/apps/slimserver# perl slimserver.pl --daemon --user slimserver perl: warning: Setting locale failed. perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings: LANGUAGE = (unset), LC_ALL = (unset), LC_COLLATE = "C", LANG = "en_US" are supported and installed on your system. perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C"). 10. Thanks PeterB. I will try again without the mySQL and see how that goes.
  11. Hi all. Firstly, thanks for your help/suggestions so far. Well i'm now back to this scenario: - The wife wants a cheese sandwich and i'm loosing the will. Here are the variables i use on the mySQL install: Hostname: Microserver Disk Label: disk2 MySQL root Password: *my 'root' password* First Database: musicDB Database User: root Database User Password: *my 'root' password, again* Custom parameters: Are these wrong, is that why i'm getting the error? Thanks in advance, Dan
  12. Right, i've tried several different edits of my go file without any joy. Can someone please help me out? This is what I currently have: - #!/bin/bash # Start the Management Utility /usr/local/sbin/emhttp & cd /boot/packages && find . -name '*.auto_install' -type f -print | sort | xargs -n1 sh -c /boot/unmenu/uu installpkg /boot/packages/powerdown-1.02.tgz echo >> /etc/passwd echo slimserver:$1$oExleBv6$Ux2qBpAanWMqJqUeH2xqp1:1000:100:,,,:/home/slimserver:/bin/bash >> /etc/passwd /mnt/disk1/slimserver/perl slimserver.pl --daemon --user slimserver
  13. Sorted it. I think I messed up the MySQL install from unMENU. So went back to a pre-install backup and started again. Still some issues with permissions on the slimserver folder, but ok after that. Can anyone point me towards the 'go' script for setting the passwd file for slimserver on reboot? Cheers, Dan
  14. I just cant get past the following: - [11-04-15 18:03:47.1378] main::init (326) Starting Squeezebox Server (v7.5.4, r32224, Wed Apr 13 03:06:27 MDT 2011) perl 5.010000 root@MicroServer:/mnt/disk2/slimserver# Warning: World-writable config file '/boot/packages/slimserver/Cache/my.cnf' is ignored 110415 18:03:47 [ERROR] Can't find messagefile '/usr/local/mysql/share/mysql/english/errmsg.sys' 110415 18:03:47 [ERROR] Aborting Then another 30 seconds or so of the World-writable ignored warning. Any ideas gents? What other info do you require? Cheers Dan.
  15. Right, thanks. :'( Another question then, can i start and stop at certain times of the day? I'm sure I've something somewhere, but done so much reading lately I cant remember where. On to squeezebox server now. Thanks again.
