  1. Thanks.. i dont remember exactly it was a few hours ago heh. Id love to try some more tests but i can't get unRAID to stay online for more than a few seconds.. Guess im not ready to rock.. :'(
  2. Guess i spoke to soon.. goes down constantly now with an idle cpu :'( Was online all day.. only things i changed is i added a few shares and enabled data integrity.
  3. After 4 days of preclear and parity building /checking i'm ready to rock but i want to do it right hehe.... First question.. Why does it mater? Isn't the point to have a large pool of storage? Who cares where it goes? Only thing i can think of is drive spin up but i plan to keep mine spinning. Not trying to be a jerk i really wana know. Second question.. Assuming i do care (lol) is this correct? Share --Folder ^Split top level dir as required? So, the share dir can be on all drives and individual folder dirs can go on any drive under it. But anything actually in a folder dir stays together in that dir/drive? Share --Folder1 ---More --Folder2 ---More ^Split top 2 dir levels as required? So, the share dir can be on all drives and individual folder dirs can go under it on any drive. But anything actually in a more dir stays together in that dir/drive? Seems so simple but it makes my head hurt. Third question.. If i mess it up is it as easy as making a new share with the correct setting and putting everything from the messed up one into it? Third question.. I did a test with the first of the 2 scenarios above. I used some test folders with txt files in them.. with allocation set to most free and no cache selected.. and it made folders but files in them were all over the place. Didn't really follow the rules. What gives? Thanks
  4. I can add shares, add data and generally play/futz around while it does it? Doh.. i guess that would make sense since you can set it to do it automatically.. otherwise you would have to remember when every time heh.
  5. I'll do it for sure.. Just excited to get started after i built it. Sat there in preclear for 3 days. I couldn't bare to do any more than 1 cycle. Now 10 hours of this and 12 more after that. I wanna start all the cool stuff dang it!! hehe .. I'm really in no hurry
  6. It's hard to know what is outdated or not when looking at guides.. the one i am reading says.. Is that not what it is doing on it's own right now? I've already spent 3 days pre clearing and now almost a day doing this.. hehe If i should still do it .. how long does it take? I've set it to do it once a month in scheduler. Thanks
  7. Ahh that makes a little more sense. They a brand new drives so i figured id stress them. No patience for 3 passes though heh.
  8. Hope so! heh.. I can wait. Cant really do anything with nothing assigned to the array anyways heh
  9. Well, i am not sure why. All i did was boot a clean install of unraid, get a trial key, install some plugins and start a preclear on 4 disks
  10. I'm only doing 4. No way im stopping them now. They are all 30ish % in the last read. No idea why its showing up a billion times. Plus doesn't the image show my CPU not being fully used ? Looked like all cores are under 25%. ############################################################################################################################ # # # unRAID Server Pre-Clear of disk /dev/sde # # Cycle 1 of 1, partition start on sector 64. # # # # # # Step 1 of 5 - Pre-read verification: [24:50:47 @ 67 MB/s] SUCCESS # # Step 2 of 5 - Zeroing the disk: [12:19:48 @ 135 MB/s] SUCCESS # # Step 3 of 5 - Writing unRAID's Preclear signature: SUCCESS # # Step 4 of 5 - Verifying unRAID's Preclear signature: SUCCESS # # Step 5 of 5 - Post-Read in progress: (27% Done) # # # # # # # # # # # # ** Time elapsed: 7:52:52 | Current speed: 160 MB/s | Average speed: 58 MB/s # # # ############################################################################################################################ # Cycle elapsed time: 45:08:17 | Total elapsed time: 45:08:17 # ############################################################################################################################ ############################################################################################################################ # # # S.M.A.R.T. 11. doh, sorry. Putty only stays connected for a few seconds so this was hard to get lol
  12. "glad" to hear its not just me! heh.. I have no idea what settings to futz around with in network settings
  13. Alright thanks. Crucial's own software says its healthy.. I've only had it a week or so and i don't know much about SSDS so it was a bit worrying. Only my second SSD. heh
  14. Could be the cable i guess. It was brand new from the store. Bought it so i could have the server in the spare room. It's plugged right into my modem/router combo. Nothing else is having issues. bond0 Errors: 0 Drops: 118 Overruns: 0 Errors: 0 Drops: 0 Overruns: 0 eth0 Errors: 0 Drops: 0 Overruns: 0 Errors: 0 Drops: 0 Overruns: 0 lo Errors: 0 Drops: 0 Overruns: 0 Errors: 0 Drops: 0 Overruns: 0
  15. Super annoying. Since i cant do much with nothing assigned i just want to look around in the settings of my new unraid server. Every time i click something i get .. This site can’t be reached
  16. I'm hoping its just because HDTune doesn't know what to do with the SSD SMART data.
  17. Well, i can't figure it out The thing with checking network in windows explorer works every time though *shrugs* Edit: Well, maybe not every time
  18. It will work just fine for a long while and then randomly not work. I can press refresh as much as i want but i just have to wait until it randomly starts working again. This site can’t be reached 192.168.1.2 refused to connect. Try: Checking the connection Checking the proxy and the firewall ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED May be coincidence but when its not working if i go look at network in windows explorer and double click on my unraid server it almost always starts working again after that. Edit: doing it constantly now.. only stays up for a few seconds. I am preclearing 4 disks atm. 99% CPU have anything to do with it? Been that way since i started preclearing my disks. Edit: Came up for a few second so i took a pic of this.. All stock. I haven't touched them.
  19. So the setting don't show up unless something is assigned then?
  20. Yea https://i.imgur.com/sY7npGN.png Nothing is assigned yet tho. That why it wont show up?
