I have been running version 6.9.2 for few years now and I want to finally pull a trigger to update to 6.12, but I'm really concerned that something is gonna go wrong and I lose all data. I have almost 8 disks array + multiple ssd pools, lot of VMs and docker images. What is the safest way to do it ?

How important is spinning down the array ?

how much of performance ill get by moving system to cache ? does it impact regular running of vms ? i have 1 passthrough vm and few with vdisks on array

I did that .. Stop failed .. so I hard to do hard reboot.. After it came back I was able to start array and it's now up and running with libvirt also up.. Strange and scary! I'm planning to do more of that .. but the whole process took I think 40h!! + scary experience..

Do I need any special tricks to dump the bios of any AMD card? Can I dump any AMD card bios and then just boot with it ?

Hello, I'm planning to give my MacOS a boost and be able to use parsec to connect to it. I am thinking of 5xxx series card or preferably 5500 as low profile card. So far i have 710 (primary GPU due to TR platform) and 2080ti for my gaming VM. I'm planning to swap this 710 for some low energy AMD card which would be able to host MacOS. The only bit I'm missing right now is information if this GPU 5500 is going to work in as primary passed card ? Does it need BIOS dump ? Is it straitforward and are there any guides avaialbe ? I noticed that spaceinvader has make many clips about GF cards but i could not find one from passing AMD as primary GPU card? I hope you can help me. Thanks!

what about 5500, i read that encoder is bad, so if i would like to run e.g parsec as host it would be bad quality. I'm thinking of using it, but it has to be a primary card.

yes, thank you. Macinabox is not able to fetch Monterey it does not have such option. For 6800 i would need one as far i see. Would 5500 work as primary GPU?

what is your experience with GT 710 ? I'd appreciate your support here. I'm using GT 710 as my primary card on the server and was thinking to move it as a passthrough card, did u have issues with that? How is performance ? Have you been able to boot BigSur without issues? Does the encoding works on 710.. e.g for parsec ?
