  1. hey Flixx, I was wondering if you could grab a screenshot of rutorrent for me? Particularly, I'm interested in the Options > Preferences > Advanced section. Heck, might not even need a screenshot, if you can confirm that I can change the bt.transp_disposition, that would be fantastic. Here's a screencap of the option from uTorrent.
  2. btw, I also figured out the unmenu + BubbaRaid issue I was having. I didn't have the contents of the "unmenu_package_conf-1-1". I must have only done the first two zips and missed the last one. Whoops it's all working now. Thanks again for the help!
  3. from Unmenu's Disk Management Screen: /dev/sdb1 mounted on /mnt/disk/sdb1 Using command: mount -r -o noatime, nodiratime -t reiserfs /dev/sdb1 /mnt/disk/sdb1 2>&1 mount: /dev/sdb1 already mounted or /mnt/disk/sdb1 busy mount: according to mtab, /dev/sdb1 is already mounted on /mnt/disk/sdb1
  4. Hrm, i have another issue. It appears this spare hard drive is set as read-only. My mount now looks like: fusectl on /sys/fs/fuse/connections type fusectl (rw) usbfs on /proc/bus/usb type usbfs (rw) /dev/sdc1 on /boot type vfat (rw,umask=000,shortname=mixed) /boot/bubba/portal/bubba_portal.fs on /var/www type ext3 (rw,loop=/dev/loop0) /dev/hda1 on /mnt/cache type reiserfs (rw,noatime, nodiratime) /dev/md1 on /mnt/disk1 type reiserfs (rw,noatime, nodiratime) /dev/md3 on /mnt/disk3 type reiserfs (rw,noatime, nodiratime) /dev/md2 on /mnt/disk2 type reiserfs (rw,noatime, nodiratime) /dev/md4 on /mnt/disk4 type reiserfs (rw,noatime, nodiratime) shfs on /mnt/user type fuse.shfs (rw,nosuid, nodev) shfs on /mnt/user0 type fuse.shfs (rw,nosuid, nodev) /dev/sdb1 on /mnt/disk/sdb1 type reiserfs (ro,noatime, nodiratime) Any idea how to switch it to rw ?
  5. I imagine most people have it working. For some reason, mine doesn't. With BubbaRaid on and Unmenu off, the "If you are looking for the unRAID Managment Screen, it should be on port , here" points to //tower:88. When BubbaRaid on and Unmenu on, the "If you are looking for the unRAID Managment Screen, it should be on port , here" points to //tower (itself essentially). Within Unmenu, when i click on unRAID Main, i get a 404 message.
  6. BRiT: Thanks! That was helpful. Turned out to be sdb as you thought. Joe L. Thanks for replying. I actually have UnMenu, but i disabled it because for some reason the combination of UnMenu and BubbaRaid causes the original unRAID management screen to disappear. But I've re-enabled it and I'll look around for a solution to why the original screen disappears. Thanks to you both for the quick replies!
  7. Hi all, I hope this is the appropriate section to ask this question. I have a spare SATA drive that I wanted to have in my unRAID box but not in the array. I was going to start using it for rtorrent then later when I had time, try and get full slackware on it. The issue is, I cannot seem to find the drive to mount? When I'm in the unRAID disk management screen, I can see it and add it as a new data drive, but when I'm logged in as root, I cannot seem to find it anywhere to try and mount it. I'm fairly novice at linux, these are the commands I ran and their output: mount fusectl on /sys/fs/fuse/connections type fusectl (rw) usbfs on /proc/bus/usb type usbfs (rw) /dev/sdc1 on /boot type vfat (rw,umask=000,shortname=mixed) /boot/bubba/portal/bubba_portal.fs on /var/www type ext3 (rw,loop=/dev/loop0) /dev/hda1 on /mnt/cache type reiserfs (rw,noatime, nodiratime) /dev/md1 on /mnt/disk1 type reiserfs (rw,noatime, nodiratime) /dev/md3 on /mnt/disk3 type reiserfs (rw,noatime, nodiratime) /dev/md2 on /mnt/disk2 type reiserfs (rw,noatime, nodiratime) /dev/md4 on /mnt/disk4 type reiserfs (rw,noatime, nodiratime) shfs on /mnt/user type fuse.shfs (rw,nosuid, nodev) shfs on /mnt/user0 type fuse.shfs (rw,nosuid, nodev) cat /etc/fstab /dev/disk/by-label/UNRAID /boot vfat auto,rw,exec ,umask=000,shortname=mixed 0 0 The drive works fine, I had it as part of the array up until recently and decided to remove it from the array. Now i just want to be able to mount it and use it without it being part of the array.
  8. Well assuming you don't have the 1.5TB drives, there is not firmware update available for any other drive in the 7200.11 line. The thread on the Seagate forum has grown to 17 pages. More and more people reporting the issue.
  9. Where are yours made? and what size? i assume AD14 is an earlier firmware, i wonder if that would fix the BSY flag issue people are getting.
  10. Anyone aware of the issues being reported about what seems to be the entire 7200.11 line? Apparently any drive made in Thailand with a firmware of SD15 is susceptible to an issue where the firmware locks up / gets corrupted. Drive sounds fine, but your computer won't recognize it anymore. Your data is there, but you cannot get at it. Solution is to either pay several hundred for recovery service and hope the company is aware of the issue (apparently its an easy fix with the right equipment), or to get a new drive from Seagate. Seagate has not admitted there is a problem, yet there are a ton of people suddenly with issues. This usually happens after 2-3 months of running the drive. There are a whole bunch of people on the Seagate boards complaining about this. This 6 pager shows quite a few with the issue. http://forums.seagate.com/stx/board/message?board.id=ata_drives&thread.id=3283 I've purchased 5 Seagate 1TB drives (1 was for a friend). 1 of the drives had this exact problem after 3 months of use. Made in Thailand with SD15 firmware. I have 4 drives in my unRAID server, i believe 3 are made in China and 1 made in Thailand. I'm sitting on pins and needles Hopefully Seagate will finally admit the problem and release a firmware update like they did with the 1.5TB drive. Anyway, this is a heads up for people who own any of the 7200.11 line. There is no newer firmware than SD15 at this point and again Seagate won't admit there is a problem. This coincides with Seagate reducing their OEM drive warranty to 3 years. Go figure.
  11. Ouch! the blows! I assume if you bought a drive while it had 5 year, it will still have 5 year. That totally kills Seagates competitive advantage in my eyes.
  12. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811998049 $11.99 CDN / $9.99 USD I bought 2 of these. I didn't want to dedicate the cash to buy a 5-in-3 or even one of the more expensive 4-in-3 drive cages that are available. I found this beauty on newegg and ordered two. I'm only using one of them right now. I have 4 x Seagate 1tb drives in an Addtronics 7896A server case. This case has 4 x 80mm case fans on the sides of the 6 x 5.25" bays. This is key because this Scythe contraption will put the drives in close proximity of eachother. If you don't have adequate air flow, your drives will overheat. Having said that, with my case, and 4 x 80mm case fans (plus an 80mm exhaust behind the drives) my 4 drives have varied between 31-39c. In a few weeks I'll be added 4 x WD 200gig drives in the other one I have. I'll report back if it impacts the temps of my other 4 drives. To sum it up: great alternative to the expensive 4-in-3 / 5-in-3 drive bays as long as you have good airflow over your 5.25" bays.
  13. Thanks I was hoping you'd say that, for the same price I could get a 4gb stick instead of a 2gb. I realize unraid doesn't need near that much space, but i may eventually try to put some addons (apache/mysql/php) so i can consolidate my servers. Anyway, thanks for the response. Any and all of those add-ons can live on any of your data disks. They do not need to all be on the flash drive... AND a 2 Gig drive would probably be plenty anyway. unRAId itself uses under 40 Meg. If you keep several versions like me, plus all kinds of assorted add-ons, you will still have a tough time filling a 2 Gig drive. I've only got a 1 Gig drive, and I do a lot of playing with packages, and I've still got over 300 meg free on my flash drive. Joe L. Good point Joe, didn't think of that Thanks
  14. I can't comment on a PCI SATA card. but for 1TB drive, in my opinion, the Seagate 1TB is a no brainer. Simply due to the 5 year warranty and great price (12 cents a gig). I have 4 (2 in production, another 2 waiting for my unraid server to be built).

  16. I tried searching for this topic and didn't come up with anything. I've read over the suggested brands. I noticed for PNY it had "slow" next to it. Would having a faster USB key help for anything in particular? I was looking at the Corsair Voyager GT which has a claimed 34mb/s read and 28mb/s write. Is there a point? or should i save my money?
