  1. I just upgrade to 6.10.3 and I lost my GPU plugin support in process. I have tried to reinstall/reboot multiple times without any luck. GPU won't show up in plugin. GPU is available option to VMs if I try to make one. GPU is not passed trought to any VM.

Here is message when tried to install Nvidia-Plugin:

Plugin will also disappear from settings during reboot.

  2. Hi,

I have been looking for some kind of guide to "best settings" for fstab mount options with unRAID.

All I can find is troubleshoot guides with pasted settings which include also fstab files.

How much difference if any those extra parameters make compared to just using "defaults"?

Here is how my fstab lines looks like:

    //192.168.1.100/ShareX   /Media/ShareX   cifs   defaults,_netdev,nofail,x-systemd.device-timeout=10s,noserverino,iocharset=utf8,credentials=/home/user/.nas_credentials,uid=1000   0   0

I'm not a linux guru by any mean so all improvements to my config line would be appreciated.

Let's say that everything works without problem, but I'm looking for suggestions like "add this or remove that and you will gain a bit more speed, stability or that line is duplicate etc."

How is your fstab mount parameters looks like and why you have those specific settings included?

  3. I uninstalled that plugin and reads from disk1 has been dropped from millions to ~ 17 000 in last 10 hour window. That might actually was the problem.

Still unclear to me why that reading happened only at one disk in array and constantly. I haven't use spin down feature at long time. All my disk spin 24/7 nowadays.

That same disk1 is only one which have reads (17 000) during past 10 hours. All other disks sit at 0 reads and writes. So there might be still some issue but situation is way better than earlier! Thanks to you Squid!

  4. Hi,

I have tried to solve this problem few days now without any luck.

Problem is that something reads from array (disk 1) constantly but I can't figure out which and why.

Speed is about 400-600 kb/s and total reads count is + 4 000 000 in less than day.

I think that problem is somehow VM or server load related.

I have 2 ubuntu VM's which are installed to cache drive and anything from config won't point to array disks.

I have installed file activity plugin but it won't show any file usage during reads.

I also have tried to stop all dockers without luck.

Any idea what can cause this or how to troubleshoot?

  5. Anyone else having speed problems?

Download speed is good minute or two and then it will drop fast from 60-80 MB/s to few hundred kb/s and stays there until restart. Same thing happens with linuxserver syncthing docker image. (there is more discussion in syncthing topic) I have tried with docker and VM simultaneously and problems exist only with docker. Same settings and remote servers. Any idea what can cause this?

Docker and VM both uses cache drive

    unRAID version: 6.9.0-beta35

  6. Is there a way to split USB controller or should I just buy pci-e USB hub and pass through that whole thing to VM?

    Any recommended brand or model?

If I have understood correctly, my MB have only one USB controller (Supermicro X11SSM-F)

  7. Hi,

I just made my first VM and after some trial and error I managed to pass through my GTX 1660 Super to Manjaro Gnome VM.

Everything seems to work but there is no audio trough usb dac.

Dac is connected to host like keyboard and mouse and it identifies automatically in VM settings. It also shows in Manjaro settings with correct name but there is no sound, only some pops frequently.

    Any help?

I would also appreciate if someone could check those XML settings if there is something obviously wrong! :)

  8. ok, thanks for a check.

Just found this topic, seems that I'm not alone with this problem.

Problem exist with current Samba shares and earlier NFS shares which I had during KDE install.

  9. Hi,

    Backround:

I have been struggling with "disappearing shares" for a long time now. About year ago I used Ubuntu (Gnome) and didn't have any problems, then I switched to Manjaro KDE and problems started, I had to switch Samba shares to NFS shares because of many problems.

    Example:

If I wanted to check mediainfo from movie file, KDE (Samba) started to transfer that movie file to my PC and only after completed transfer mediainfo was opened. Switching to NFS solved that problem.

At same time "disappearing shares" problem started, and in that point I thought it would be KDE related problem.

Few days ago I formatted my PC and switched to Manjaro Gnome version, but problem didn't go away. So actually that problem might be unRAID or linux related, not that specific desktop environment.

    Problem:

All shares will be mounted without any problem during boot. Shares stay visible if I won't modify/add/delete any file trough my PC.

When I do so, folder will show up empty and I have to refresh folder to see files. At same time I will lose access to "root folder" of share, but I still have access to all subfolders.

    Example:

I can't access mounted share "/media/movies/" but if I go directly to subfolder "/media/movies/action" everything works normally in subfolders.

If I try to access mounted share "/media/movies" I will get error message:

Unhandled error message: Error when getting information for file "/-media/movies": Stale file handle

Only way to fix problem is unmount shares trough terminal or reboot.

With KDE error messages was little bit different, can't remember exactly but it was something like "no such file or directory"

KDE also was trickier to unmount, I had to use sudo umount -l /media/movies. Without -l it didn't do anything because "directory is busy" error.

    PC OS: Manjaro Gnome 19.0.2

    unRAID: 6.8.3 with Samba shares

    Shares are mounted trough /etc/fstab

    Mount paremeters: //192.168.2.13/Movies        /media/Movies        cifs    guest,uid=1000,iocharset=utf8    0    0

Let me know if you need any logs or more information.

My knowledge about linux is limited (only some basics), so problem might be in my settings also.

BTW: English is not my native language, so hope you get idea of problem :)

if you want to use a custom bridge then the network for that custom bridge has to be different to your lan, in your case for example 192.168.13.0/24, if you use the same network range as your lan then you will not be able to access the container.

can't change that, It will give error "Error response from daemon: Invalid address 192.168.13.110: It does not belong to any of this network's subnets."

    EDIT:

I reset my pfsense router to factory defaults and it didn't solve problem. However, I had to add custom options to dns resolver because without it I cannot connect to unraid at all. That custom option is shown in video I linked earlier. (timestamp about 16:50 unRAID SSL)

    Custom option:

    server:
    private-domain: "unraid.net"

So could that unRAID SSL be a problem?

    EDIT2:

Disabled SSL from unraid settings without any luck.

  11. Everything have a static IP from pfsense router.

    unRAiD - 192.168.12.23

    PC - 192.168.12.33

    Container - 192.168.12.110

I have whole lan wide openvpn client in pfsense router, but that shouldn't effect access to lan traffic? Also I can log in to container if vpn is disabled from container settings. (I need that "double" vpn to get port forward from PIA, because it can't be done easily from pfsense)

    EDIT:

SSL certificate is enabled to server if that matters somehow. Followed that video when did it long time ago.

  12. Think I get it now.

I've been using file structure in Krusader as "Root>Media>All created shares" in both windows. So think I haven't touched any disk shares. Actually I didn't even find a way to do that.

    Example:

I have 50gb file in disk 4 which in dedicated to share named X. (Share X settings: Included disk 4, exluded none)

I want to move this file to share Y (Share Y settings: Included disk all, exluded disk 4)

With crusader I can "F6 Move" it instantly to share Y, but file will stay in disk 4.

In that case none of setting are honored. And just checked, none of these files haven't move to correct disk in last few weeks.

Am I doing something totally wrong?

unraid takes care of the split levels and follows the rules you set.

as long as you move between shares. never move between disk(s) and shares. it may break things.

there is no best way. Kruzer docker, mc via CLI, root share, or copy with vm as intermediary are popular ways...

What do you mean with "never move between disk(s) and shares"?

My current setup have "Download share" in one disk, where all different linux distros are downloaded. I want to move these to other shares, which are located in other disks in array.

    Do you mean krusader app?

If so, think I have wrong settings or there is a user error with this app. With my experience, krusader wont respect any share rules.

(No excluded/included disk or split level if using "move" option.)

  14. I have few shares which I use daily basis, and other shares are basically for storage purpose. (could be theoretically be spin down weeks/months if parity check is not running)

I would like to dedicate 1 drive for those few shares to prevent whole array to spin up when I open some files. Is there settings to organize existing array the way I want it to be?  I already have changed "included disks" to these most used shares and added other shares to exclude this one disk in share settings. Seems to work, but it won't organize any existing data.

What is correct way to move file from this dedicated disk to "storage drives"? I have been using "binhex-crusader" to move files between shares. Seems that it will move file to correct share, but data will stay in wrong disk.

Sorry about confusing text, English is not my native language. Hope someone will understand my question :)

  15. After updating to Unraid 6.6.1 vnc keyboard layout haven't worked correctly.

I have tried to use finnish and swedish languages, but neither will work correctly.

Example: if I try to write _ in terminal, I will get -

Is this knows issue, any advice how it could be resolved?

This bug is in both my Windows and Ubuntu VM's. In Ubuntu VM, mouse cursor is also just a large square.

  16. Hi,

Firstly I apologize if there would be a better place for this question.

Also English is not my native language so, hope you can understand. :)

I already have 24 bay rack case build, with 6 x WD Red 4TB drives attached. At this point, I'm in a crossroad with my system. Should I buy more 4TB drives to this system or should I "downgrade" to normal case (Fractal Design Define R6 or Node 804) and buy WD Red 10tb drives. Total capacity would be approximately same without modding fractal case. (with dual parity 9x10TB vs 22x4TB)

I've been thinking this because rack build is a bit noisy, even with noctua fans at 400-500rpm. I think most of noise is coming from HDD's because there is no any anti vibration. Rack case also takes much more space from my apartment. Nas is in same room with my gaming pc and there is no other place to put it.

    So question is:

which one would be more reliable, and would be there any downsides compared to other option?

Has anyone done that kind of downgrade? Do you regret or are you happy with your choice?

  17. I updated BIOS and IPMI firmware and server has worked without any problems until now.

Now it freezed in different way.

Connected monitor shows repeately these two lines, never seen these before

    crond[1785]: exit status 137 from user root /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix/scripts/monitor &> /dev/null
    crond[1785]: exit status 137 from user root /etc/rc.d//rc.diskinfo --daemon &> /dev/null

    Edit:

I just run few passes of memtest86 without any errors
