  1. Hi, I have problem that my unraid system totally freezes randomly. (max 1-2 times in month.) Whole system freezes and it won't even response to keyboard which is connected to unraid box. Not even _ letter blinking in command line, so only way to fix is do unclean reboot. Any ideas which could cause this? Parts: Motherboard: Supermicro X11SSM-F Ram: 8GB Samsung M391A1G43DB0-CPB x 2 (16GB total) CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1240v6 PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA P2 850w
  2. That tape fix for H310's solved my problem! Now I can see all added memory in slots DIMMA2 and DIMMB2
  3. Thanks for your fast reply. Will try remove both H310 cards after drive pre-clear is complete. Hoping this mod will fix my problem.
  4. Hi, I just build my first unraid server and I added 2 ram sticks to my build. My problem is that BIOS only recognize ram stick only in slot DIMMA2 when installed in DIMMA2 and DIMMB2 slots as supermicro manual recommends. So total memory is only 8GB. Haven't seen any errors, and DIMMB2 stays unrecognized even if i change placement of ram sticks. Changing ram's to slots DIMMA1 and DIMMB1 basically solves this problem, and system will work properly. Both ram sticks will be recognized normally. I read from somewhere in this forum that Dell 310 in it-mode can cause some kind of memory problem, but can't find that topic. Could that be a reason? Fix for this was taping some pins in HBA cards. I will try update MB BIOS later today. Parts: Supermicro X11SSM-F 8GB Samsung M391A1G43DB0-CPB DDR4-2133 ECC DIMM CL15 x 2 Intel Xeon E3-1240v5 850 Watt EVGA SuperNOVA P2 Dell Perc h310 x2 (in CPU SLOT 7 and CPU SLOT6) Flashed to latest IT firmware (P20) Any other suggestions to try before RMA that MB?
  5. is this correct card for norco 4224 build? http://www.ebay.com/itm/131659438749 Any better alternatives from EU? Buying from china is not recommended?

    Norco 4224 Thread

Thanks for your fast reply, but I think those won't help me in this situation. Newegg won't ship to EU and norco is not available in here. I have logic case, which is similar with norco case https://www.servercase.co.uk/shop/server-cases/rackmount/4u-chassis/4u-server-case-w-24x-35-hot-swappable-satasas-drive-bays-6gbs-minisas-550m-deep-sc-4324s/

Is this correct cable to connect mb sata to backplanes? http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/0-75m-InLine-SAS-3Gb-s-Anschlusskabel-SFF-8087-Stecker-auf-4xeSATA-Stecke_657938.html Any better alternatives in EU?
  8. Thanks for your reply I think that there will be max 4 plex streams simultaneosly and maybe 1-2 (light) vm's. So I think that 16gb ram is enought for start. x264 encoding (handbrake, megui etc) will not be used so often, but when needed I don't want to use my gaming pc to do encoding. So with these parts + 2 x m1015 and cables I'm good to go? (2 x reverse breakout cables to mb sata ports + 4 x sff-8087 to sff-8087 cables for m1015) Can anyone recommend some good seller to buy these m1015? http://www.ebay.com/itm/252307047041 This seller has some comments that cards buyed from him flashed to it mode without problems.
  9. Case is not arrived yet, but it seems that it has 6 seperate boards. EDIT: I will start with only 6 drives, but I would like to add then top to bottom (one for each backplane). I think it will give more security if example backplane fails and kills all drives on it. So basically I need to connect all 6 backplanes at start.
  10. Case backplane have 6 x SFF-8087 connectors. That case is similar as Norco RPC-4224
  11. Hi, I'm starting my first unRAID (and NAS) build and I need some advice for hardware. Mainly this build will be Plex server, but I want also use this build to x264 encoding and run some vm in it. Preliminary part list Motherboard: Supermicro X11SSM-F Ram: 8GB Samsung M391A1G43DB0-CPB x 2 (16GB total) CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1240v5 PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA P2 850w Parity drives: WD RED 4TB x 2 Case: Logic Case SC-4324S - [glow=green,2,300]Ordered[/glow] (Fans will be replaced with Noctua) Any thoughts of these parts? I might add ssd's later for cache and vm's My main concern is SAS and expander cards.. Which one's to buy to get most efficient build. I read that cache and other ssd's would be better mount directly to mb, so i would like to add all case sas connectors to external cards. Will 3 x M1015 cards work with that mb or are there better solutions? All help is welcome
