  1. Did you happen to get the VBIOS passed through eventually?
  2. How do you find your gaming FPS with Ryzen on unRAID?
  3. Anyone using this mobo for unRAID? https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z390-UD-rev-10#kf 1. I assume it supports Vt-d, correct? 2. How well does it split IOMMU groups for virt? Thanks!
  4. My sig shows a lot but that's mostly just gear. About the only thing really happening regularly in the docker is PLEX. What's your thought on my Option 1--switching from the blue 3570 to the red 8350? Think it would it help much? Thanks again.
  5. I'm considering upgrading my unRAID machine. I currently use an Intel i5 3570 (not the K version). I have 3 of the 4 cores dedicated to Windows 10 VMs for gaming. I've found that with my current game, if I don't assign 3 cores, I can't run the game at 3440x1440 high settings and have clear Discord comms (Discord cuts out when I only give the VM 2 cores and I can see both cores pinned from the game I'm playing). Option 1: I have an 8 core AMD FX 8350 and mobo available which uses the same DDR3 RAM (bonus). I could go to this mobo/CPUand maybe have more cores left over for unRAID (particularly PLEX). Say, give Windows 4 or 5 cores, and give unRAID the remaining. But would that help? I know that the 8350 cores are not as beefy as the 3570 cores I'm using...but there are more of them, for sure. Option 2 would be to upgrade to a more modern setup, maybe i7 9700K, DDR4, etc. but obviously, that comes with a price tag. Option 3 would be to upgrade to a Ryzen 7 2700X, mobo, and again, DDR4. What are your thoughts? Could the free option 1 suffice? That is, how do you think those 8 cores redistributed would stack up against my current 4 core Intel? If I upgrade, does having the extra threads of Ryzen make much difference vs the 9700K for Windows 10 VMs for gaming, and PLEX on the unRAID box? (I run some other dockers but they're almost insignificant.) I've done some reading here on the forums already, as well as online, but I can't seem to really get a handle on how the hyper threading would affect things. Overall, it looks like in single core and quad core ops, the 9700K kicks the Ryzen 7--it's in full 8/16 ops that the Ryzen really shines. But obviously none of the info I've read is in regards to my particular setup. Thanks!
  6. I didn't know about Troubleshooting mode in FCP. Doing that now... Thanks!
  7. Is there any way to see logs from before my unraid box locked up? In the past couple weeks it's locked up 3 or 4 times and I can't figure out why. Thanks.
  8. Where does one find instructions on how to theme UNRAID?
  9. Woah! The "black" theme in 6.6 is great!
  10. How come we don't have more themes? Are they hard to create? Are there instructions somewhere? I think a snazzy black-and-orange theme (to match the new UNRAID styling on the website and forums) would be great. From a pic on the website, could I surmise that a black-and-orange one might be coming? Thanks!
  11. I've done a lot of reading about the ACS Override in the last couple days. The biggest issue is with DMA across devices in the same group--since ACS keeps them from DMAing each other normally. This looks like it's probably only a problem with say, two vid cards in SLI/Crossfire mode, or maybe some similar devices with bad firmware. Even jonp says he uses his GPU and LSI card in this manner (ACS Override on) based on the post above. I'm willing to give it a shot.
  12. So I've decided to leave it in the slot with the shared controller w/GPU. I've used something called the ACS Override to get it working. Info on the ACS Override is here: https://forums.unraid.net/topic/42192-trying-to-assign-gpu-to-a-win-10-vm/
  13. So I did the BIOS update for the motherboard. It's up-to-date now. The firmware in the LSI 9207 is already the most current (checked against their downloads). Still no go. Any other ideas?
  14. I'm usually pretty leery to do BIOS updates. You might be right though.
  15. I've looked through the MB BIOS settings regarding PCIe. Nothing jumps out as having any affect.
  16. I've removed my old PEXESAT322Is (three of them) and have replaced them with an Avago LSI 9207-8i. The LSI recognizes my drives and seems super fast. Originally, I installed it in my spare PCIe 3.0 slot. Unfortunately, I also pass a GPU through to VMs and it appears that both the LSI and GPU end up in the same IOMMU group. The VMs won't start. I moved the LSI to my one PCIe 2.0 slot (16x) hoping its on another group. Unfortunately, the computer itself won't recognize the LSI card when its plugged into this slot! The LSI BIOS doesn't load and the drives aren't recognized by unRAID (obviously). I assume that even though it's a PCIe 3.0 card, it should work in 2.0 (the manual doesn't indicate anything different--just says it must be at least 8x lanes). Any ideas? I'm really stuck. (Motherboard is MSI Z77A-G45.)
  17. Interesting. I'm looking at pics of an LSI SAS 9211-8i (looks like others are, too) but I can't figure out how all 8 drives plug into this thing. Regular SATA cables?
  18. So I gave up and rebuilt. This time, following all the same tutorials, it works fine. C'est la vie.
  19. My server currently has 12 drives connected. Six (6) use the on-board SATA controller and the other six (6) are connected to three (3) PEXESAT3221 PCIe SATA controllers. Everything works great! Now I've decided to add a fourth PEXESAT3221 controller and another drive. When I plug the controller in and boot (no drives attached) the server recognizes the BIOS of each card, with the "empty" one stating that no drives are attached. The server boots and all the existing drives work fine. However, when I attach a new drive (my 13th drive) to the new card, that card's BIOS shows the new drive but two (2) of the existing drives--in fact, what appears to be the last controller card in the PCIe chain, no longer get recognized by the computer! That is to say, where the boot messages use to say (using pseudo messages for clarity): New Card: No drives attached. Previous Card 1: 2 drives attached. Previous Card 2: 2 drives attached. Previous Card 3: 2 drives attached. It now says: New Card: 1 drive attached (because I just attached my one new drive). Previous Card 1: 2 drives attached. Previous Card 2: 2 drives attached. But Card 3 is completely missing. The computer no longer recognizes that it's plugged in. And remember, this is all pre-unRAID boot, simply BIOS messages. Does anyone know if this is maybe a limitation of the PEXESAT3221 or if it might have something to do with my mobo BIOS? Or maybe something else entirely? I'm completely at a loss on this one. Thanks so much.
  20. No matter what I try with the SmUUID settings in Clover, every time I reboot I end up with a different IOPlatformUUID. Has anyone got this to work with Clover in an unRAID VM? Thanks.
  21. I ended up having to rebuild my VM for other reasons. This time, I can see Clover! I did everything exactly the same way...to the letter. Oh well, it works now. (I have some other problems though since I'm using a 3440x1440 monitor and the TitanoCore OVMF doesn't support past 2560x1440...)
