Hi,
I got my first file corruption error message.
What do I do with this now? 🤔
Thanks!

Hi All,
I need to reduce the footprint on my setup so my desktop needs to go. I'm planning to move the desktop to unraid as a Win10 VM, main use photoshop and lightroom, and if parenthood allows it (:-)) some gaming!
So I'm planning my next setup and I have thought of the i7 9700 + 1080Ti GPU, an overkill for a server but hopefully more than enough for my VM purpose. I'm running some dockers as well (emby, sonarr, radar, sab) and would like to start playing with tvheadend.
What do you think? Anyone with a similar configuration?
Could you recommend me a micro ATX motherboard? Besides the 1080Ti I need pci slots for one M1015 and one RES2SV240.
What about RAM, will 32GB be enough? What speed
I also read the i7 tends to run hot, any recommendation for a cooler?
Thanks!

Cheaper and less maintenance than this?

Ok, so you are streaming to another pc... Dumb of me...
My goal is completely remove my physical pc, so the server in the basement and just a monitor in my office.
For this i guess i need a kvm over ethernet to pass video, mouse, keyboard, joystick and so on...

I have 3*1080ti each allocated to a gaming Windows 10 VM for myself and my kids. Check out the excellent videos from Space Invader One on how. I game in 4k, the kids in 1080p.
that's a nice setup, may I ask what is your hardware for that?
17 hours ago, Nigel said:To game, you can use the Moonlight application (free) which uses Nvidia streaming. You can use remote desktop by sharing the mstsc.exe application via the Nvidia Geforce app. You might also need a display emulator (really cheap) plugged into a display or hdmi port on the GPU so the VM thinks there is a monitor attached to it.
Can you game 4K without connecting to the GPU output? Could you give more detail on how it works please?
If so I could install the server in the basement, and release some more space from the home office (I thought I'd need a KVM-over-ethernet adaptor)

Depending on your budget I would recommend a 1070 or 1080.
Thanks!
Would that work with my MB?
Or should I think of changing it as well as the RAM?

Hi All,
Due to life and stuff (I've became the proud father of a beautiful daughter!) I've been out of business for almost two years, in fact, my server is still down, if everything goes well, is going up this week!
In this time, I've moved to a new place and need to reduce my hardware footprint, which means I need to drop my office PC to keep the unraid server. My first thought has been to build a Win 10 VM and a couple of questions are going through my head:
- Is virtualization mature enough in unraid to use a VM as a home PC.?Purpose would be photoshop, lightroom, and if possible gaming.
- What GPU would you recommend if I were to start from scratch? My mb is the old and reliable Supermicro X9SCM-F-O, CPU Intel Xeon E3-1240 and 64GB of RAM (DDR3 1333 ECC Unbuffered. Could I use this hardware or would I need something different?
Sorry for the questions, I've been out for so long I don't know where to start, in fact the unraid version I still have is 6.2.x 😅!
Thanks in advance for you help!

Hi all, sorry the delay, been travelling last week.
Attached my diagnostics.
On 6/28/2017 at 2:56 PM, johnnie.black said:Yes, if parity2 is the 3TB one you'll need to unassign it and start the array without first.
How exactly I do that?

Hi,
I have an array with two parity drives, 1x 4TB + 1x 3TB.
One of the data drives in the array is failing, and have just finished clearing a 4TB drive.
Is it posible to replace the failing drive with the smaller parity, an the latest with the new 4TB I've just precleared?
Thanks!

Thanks Squid, set to 720000 and the warning dissapeared!

Hi All,
I have a centOS 7 VM installed in unRaid 6.3.2.
It’s been working fine for quite a long time.
I logged in today to update the system and saw these error messages:
[root@orion ~]# Message from syslogd@orion at Apr 16 22:59:12 ... kernel:Uhhuh. NMI received for unknown reason 21 on CPU 0. Message from syslogd@orion at Apr 16 22:59:12 ... kernel:Do you have a strange power saving mode enabled? Message from syslogd@orion at Apr 16 22:59:12 ... kernel:Dazed and confused, but trying to continue
They keep on repeating every 30 second or so.
Any help would be appreciated.
Please find the unraid diagnostic file attached.
Thanks,
d.

I am having the warning ”Possibly out of inotify watches” in the Fix Common Problems plugin.
Any idea what this could be?
PS: attached are the diagnostics files

I've received this notification, I assume it's because one of the array drives has +800 read errors. The smart status shows 45 multi zone error rate, although status is passed.
Parity check finished this morning with no errors.
What should I do?

That's only a partial log that doesn't tell much, but try this. Open the container settings, make a change, revert it (like add a space and then delete it) and then hit save. It will recreate the container with the same settings and data.
I recreated the container and still get a blank screen.
Attached are the logs.
After further testing I found what's happening.
I had the Environment Variable 'EDGE' set to 1. The latest calibre release 2.67 is broken something in the app.
Set EDGE back to 0, version 2.33, and it works again.

great plugin, very useful, I just set up a schedule to back up the listing of my media folders.
would it be possible to add a script title and the actual script name to the left?
Hi dheg... Is there any chance you could share your script for the listing of your media folders? I really want to have something like that.
Thanks,
H.
Here it is: https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=50416.msg495777#new
Enjoy it !

A script to have a file with the folders containing movies and tvshows.
My movies and tv shows are independent shares with the next structure:
movies -BluRay -<movie-title> -DVD -<movie-title>
tvshows -<tv show title> -<season #>
You might have to adjust -maxdepth and mindepth according to this.
You can also set the REPORTS_PATH variable to configure where to save the reports.
#!/bin/bash DATE=`date +%Y%m%d` REPORTS_PATH=/mnt/user/appdata/@reports/media echo "Searching for movies and TV shows..." mkdir -p $REPORTS_PATH find /mnt/disk*/* -maxdepth 2 -mindepth 2 -type d -not -iname '.*' \( -path "*/movies/*" -or -path "*/tvshows/*" \) -print | sort -k1 > $REPORTS_PATH/media.catalog_$DATE.csv echo echo "Finished." echo echo "File created at "$REPORTS_PATH/media.catalog_$DATE.csv
I'm a complete noob, so any improvement to the code would be greatly appreciate it!

Thanks, will do it.

He meant reboot the computer, not restart the docker. Anything in /tmp will be wiped out on reboot since that folder is in RAM.If this server is no longer running, remove /tmp/.X1-lock
How can I remove this lock?
Either delete it (rm /tmp/.X1-lock), or reboot. Anything in /tmp is in RAM, so gone on reboot.
I already tried to restart the docker, didn't work, will try again.

Or delete it from the command line with the command he gave.
I rebooted the server and that made the trick, I'm having a new issue though.
After login through xrdp, I got into a black screen.
Attached is the log after trying a connection.

Running through the tests, and I can't delete that folder. Here's why
If you've got the destination set to same as appdata, then the process is to actually backup into the appdata share and then the appdata backup takes places. Net result is that yes you do wind up with that folder in your appdata share (backup of a backup )
- After running the backup, the folders 'Community_Applications_USB_Backup' and 'Community_Applications_VM_XML_Backup' remain at /mnt/cache/appdata. Is this right? Shouldn't these be deleted after the backing up?
Understood.
After backing up, wouldn't be better to delete them? It'd look cleaner
Sent from my SM-G901F using Tapatalk
- VM's enabled. Backup run. XML destination is set to same as appdata. XML's get copied over to appdata, then backed up to array. CA deletes the version stored within the appdata
A while later, another backup done, but with VMs disabled
- Source XMLs no longer exist due to VMs being disabled, so no backup winds up getting created.
- An old backup set (that contains the only backup of the VM xmls gets deleted due to the days to keep settings)
Now there is no backup at all of the xml's available
If you want it a tad cleaner, then you'll have to use a separate destination for USB / VM xml's (but then the you lose the dated backup sets on VM / USB as that only works via same destination), but it won't delete the existing files in the backup if the xml if vms are disabled.
Guess I could look at backing up the actual loopback image, but then you run into issues if a VM happens to be accessing it at the same time as the backup.
After thinking about this, if the flash drive is backed up, whats the purpose of backing up the VMs XMLs? The VM definitions are stored in /boot/config/plugins/dynamix.kvm.manager/domain.img, right?
-
ok... (or anyone that wants it)
download this to your flash drive https://github.com/Squidly271/community.applications/raw/master/archive/community.applications-2016.09.06beta.txz
then
installpkg /boot/community.applications-2016.09.06beta.txz rm -rf /tmp/community.applications
Has the cumulative fixes for what you've found (I'm in the process of testing them anyways right now)
More curious about just using CA proper. Does it send the right xml's to dockerMan to be installed (ie: when you hit add is the template that shows up match what you hit add on any app that you pick out of a hat?) Need testing due to two test containers that I've got buried away in the Uncategorized section (feel free to add them to see what I'm doing, but they won't actually install via dockerMan).
My results:
- Now you can select 12AM, fixed.
- 'Community_Applications_USB_Backup' and 'Community_Applications_VM_XML_Backup' are still at /mnt/cache/appdata, should they be?
Did you change anything else?
- Now you can select 12AM, fixed.

Support for intel i7 9700k
in Motherboards and CPUs
Posted
Hopefully someone could add some light into this.
I'm planning a build with the intel i7 9700 9th generation and I swera I read somewhere that you need linux kernel 4.20 for intel 9th generation but I can't find it know.
Does anyone know and can confirm?
Thanks!
