Could someone chip in and comment about percona vs mysql? What are the pros and cons of each? Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

It's actually on this thread, although it has grown to unreadable limits, which is a good sign actually Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

Yes, I have newznab.sh in /etc/inid.d The path was also good. I forgot to change the sleep time and left it at 10 sec, but this shouldn't have stoped it I finally got it working. This what I did: cp /var/www/newznab/misc/update_scripts/nix_scripts/newznab.sh /etc/init.d sudo mcedit /etc/init.d/newznab.sh some people might prefer nado or vi, I like mcedit, it's quite user friendly. In the file I changed this values NN_PATH="/var/www/newznab/misc/update_scripts" and NN_SLEEP_TIME="600" I'm just indexing 5 groups so far I then made the file executable and install the init scripts chmod +x /etc/init.d/newznab.sh update-rc.d newznab.sh defaults I rebooted the system, and there it is newznab running as a daemon, beautiful root 927 0.0 0.0 4400 464 ? S 20:21 0:00 /bin/sh /etc/rc2.d/S20newznab.sh start

[SOLVED] Issues mounting flash drive in linux server
dheg replied to dheg's topic in General Support (V5 and Older)
I must confess I don't understand why I can't access the flash share with 'root' user hovewer, and as advised, I created an 'admin' user and could mount it straigt away. FWIW it worked! thanks -
Could you explain this further? I followed your instructions but newznab didn't automatically start on system reboot. It worked only when running as root although I got an error. Please see below my output ubuntu@hades:~$ ./newznab.sh start -bash: ./newznab.sh: No such file or directory ubuntu@hades:~$ sudo su root@hades:/home/ubuntu# cd /etc/init.d root@hades:/etc/init.d# ./newznab.sh start Starting Newznab binaries update...root@hades:/etc/init.d# [OK] E: File read error E: File read error E: File read error root@hades:/etc/init.d#

[SOLVED] Issues mounting flash drive in linux server
dheg replied to dheg's topic in General Support (V5 and Older)
Try a different user. I don't think root has the ability to mount shares in rc8. And how is that the flash can be accessed from windows machines? -
I'm running 5rc8a as a VM in ESXi. I can see the flash drive from my windows desktop, so it's shared, no doubt about it, however, when I try to mount on linux it doesn't work (running linux server 12.04 x64) trying to mount with sudo mount -t cifs //192.168.1.153/flash /mnt/flash -o username=root,password=******,iocharset=utf8,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777 What am I doing wrong?
-
I got tired of this, connection kept getting worse and the new switch didn't help at all. So I bit the bullet and moved to 5rc8a a little earlier than I liked to, I drop all together 4.7 and make my ESXi server the production one. So far everything is good, no network issues. Thanks all

[SOLVED]Export cache drive through NFS to other Linux machine
dheg replied to dheg's topic in General Support (V5 and Older)
Thanks, that was dammed easy, i feel embarrassed -
I'm in Belgium Ok, this is what I did: log in through putty and reboot -> system started a parity check on start up idem but stopping the array first from the web page -> system started ok without parity check log in through putty and powerdown -> system started ok without parity check reboot from vSphere -> system started a parity check on start up idem but stopping the array first from the web page -> system started ok without parity check shutdown from vSphere ->system started a parity check on start up idem but stopping the array first from the web page -> system started ok without parity check Some comments/questions: [*]According to this test, the only clean way of shutting down the array is powerdown through putty or stopping first the array. Is this normal behaviour? [*]I can't see any power down button in Simple Features, should I? [*]Even when starting a parity check on startup, array is automatically mounted. Did you enable Auto start in Settings->Disk settings [*]Should reboot from the vSphere client work? According to VMTool, system should not reboot itself even when rebooting from vShere. I have this message in the VMTools tab in SF open-vm-tools v.2012.05.21-724730 compiled for unRAID 5.0-rc8 Note: open-vm-tools does not distguish between shutdown and reboot events. However, it did re-started. Is this normal behaviour? Can others report? PS: I'm in Spain

Just a quick update. I tried joelones solution modifying the go file and I don't get anymore the error message when closing from ESXi. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

Thanks Joe, it wasn't that though, no hard coded MAC addresses. Some more findings. I have a desktop (Win7 32bits) and an ESXi server that has 3 VMs: #1 - Win7 64bits #2 - Linux server 12.04 #3 - Unraid 5rc8a After testing with my ESXi server down (here) I switched it back for further testing. My VM #2 (linux) is mounting Unraid 4.7 shares during start up through fstab. Strange thing is that I cannot access unraid 4.7 from my desktop or VM #1 (both are win7 machines) but I can access them from my Linux server. So issue seems to be related to windows , however whenever I cannot access unraid 4.7, I still can access unraid 5

I switched off ESXi, and even unplugged the ethernet connections (including IPMI), but I'm still having connectivity issues. The only thing I can think off is the switch, so I bit the bullet and anticipated my x-mas shopping. I saw somewhere in the forums a recommendation for the TP Link SG1016, so I bought the 24 ports version TL-SG1024. I'll report if issues go away.

no luck I keep on having connection issues. Any ideas?
-
First thing I tried was to change the cable, it wasn't it . Then I used my previous switch, and connected directly to it the unraid server and the desktop. I then chained it to the gigabit switch to have internet on my desktop, so now it looks something like this: Router -> Gigabit Switch -> esxi server, Second-switch -> unraid server, desktop and it's been working with some heavy use (updating XBMC SQL library, accessing shares, Media Companion, etc) for about 40min which is quite a record lately. I'll monitor it closely and let you how it goes. However, this brings me a new question, actually two: 1. How is possible that the switch puts down the connection of a working port? Is there some king of bottleneck to the max traffic, connections, etc, it can handle? 2. And this brings the next question, I was thinking of buying a rack mount switch this xmas, is there any specific specs I should look for (or avoid)?
-
Ok, I should've explain better I added the switch like 4 months ago, when preparing the location for the new server, and I'm having these issue in the last 2/3 weeks, and it's becoming more and more frequent. More info, my setup is something like this: Router -> Switch -> unraid server, esxi server, desktop and when I lose connection to unraid I can still surf the internet, so I though the issue wouldn't be in the switch. However, it doesn't hurt to try with my previous set up, right?

Hi there, I'm running 4.7 with the hardware in my sig. Lately I'm having many issues with my network loosing connectivity from my main Win 7 machine. I can see this in the log: Dec 1 12:15:17 Tower kernel: r8169: eth0: link down (Network) Dec 1 12:15:17 Tower ifplugd(eth0)[1378]: Link beat lost. (Network) Dec 1 12:15:19 Tower kernel: r8169: eth0: link up (Network) Dec 1 12:15:20 Tower ifplugd(eth0)[1378]: Link beat detected. (Network) I haven't change any hardware, configuration or plugins. The only difference is that I'm building a second server (ESXi 5.1 with unraid 5rc8a, Win 7 and Ubuntu server) so I added to my set up an old gigabit switch (Belkin F5D5141-5). Any ideas? How can I track this down? It's becoming really annoying, I can watch movies almost without any issue from the Media Center in a different room, but each time I directly access the shares from my Win 7 desktop I lost connection like every 15min or so
