  1. If I understand correctly you don't have empty drives, personally I would buy an empty disk.... BUT if you really don't want to then I think you'll have to: (anyone feel free to correct anything that sounds off or can be done better) Preclear your existing parity first Then install the percleared disk as disk one Copy your data as described above using unassigned devices During this time you would be unprotected Then preclear your original data disk after the transfer Install the second precleared disk as parity Again, I'd just buy another disk, I would not want to go unprotected during a new install using a product that I'm not familiar with. Lots can go wrong, especially with unassigned devices, you can format a disk with one click and I don't think there are any warnings. It's been a while since my initial install, it went fairly well but juggling disks is a hassle better to get another IMO...
  2. I know it's not exactly the same but you can see how many hours are on each disk in the smart data and so the oldest gives you at least some idea of array up-time. The image below shows the disk has run for 2 years 6 months and 18 days...
  3. 12 GB Multi-bit ECC it seems to run fine and can be upgraded to 128 GB but I haven't really had a reason to...
  4. So is there any merit to upgrading incrementally vs jumping from 6.2.3 to 6.8.x (is it possible that the jump is incompatible with my hardware and bricks my machine for example)? If it would be useful I'd be happy to maintain an archive of older OS or plugins, maybe 18 months back on S3? Unfortunately I have no technical skills in regard to linux, programming, dockers etc so that's about as helpful as I can get, but again I'd be happy to do it...
  5. okay cool, I thought that I may not need to maintain empty space because it's not like I defrag it or anything but I always err on the side of caution when I'm not sure. So fill'er up it is, thanks guys!
  6. So how full is too full, two of my four disks are over 93% full? I was considering moving files to my new empty disk and making the disks around 85% full. Is that a waste of time?
  7. The link was within the unraid plugins tab. While following the update instructions for the latest version. It said to update plugins as one of the steps, after doing so there was a link at the bottom that said v6.5.3 was available so I continued with the instructions for v6.7 but intentionally diverted at the point of actual OS update and used v6.5.3. It seems to me that incrementally updating is probably better than jumping from 6.2.3 to 6.7, but maybe that's just because I don't know any better! Everything seems fine running 6.5.3 so far, so after a few more days I will continue to update from there. As a possible suggestion I can't help but wonder if there should be an archive like file-hippo for older versions of the OS as well as any critical plugins like CA? I'm strictly speaking as a layman so if I'm wrong so be it, but as an example the instruction process linked to above specifically said to use the Fix Common Problems plugin yet I was not able to install it without first having OS 6.7 running, a bit of a catch 22. Also I'd think it would be great to be able to rollback if a new version doesn't work with my hardward for example. Anyway I'm getting up to date slowly and I'll be looking at my settings to see why it didn't update automatically or at least offer a message, I'm assuming there is a tick-box or something that was in the wrong state.
  8. What am I missing, based on the first post in this thread it sounds like unbalance can do exactly what Arandomdood is describing. In fact, I was about to install it myself for the same purpose but I wanted to read the support page first. The first post says:
  9. Damn! I can't believe that I couldn't figure that out. To top it off I distinctly remember thinking (prior to worrying about turning that feature off) "I wonder why the help button seems to be more highlighted than the rest of the menu" and then I wrongly assumed that it was to make sure it was easily visible....doh! Thanks man...
  10. Hello all, I've just updated my OS from 6.3.2 to 6.5.3 and tried to follow the instructions above including those from ljm42. I was unable to find \\tower\flash\config\plugins\dynamix.plg to delete it but it looks like I have the proper ui based on the image below. The only issue I'm having so far is that I can't remember how to get rid of the blue tip boxes (tool tips), I can close them but they reopen every time I refresh the page or switch tabs.
  11. Just a heads up squid, I decided to update incrementally so I'm currently at OS v6.5.3 from 6.3.2 and CA did in fact just update to version 9.22.19 hopefully this is not a problem, I've attached an image just in case you want to see. I'll run the array for a day or two and then update the OS further. BTW I've read through your change-log on the old version, it was very thorough and easy to follow, I especially liked the OCD change regarding the spinner! Anyway, thank you for all of your hard work brother, you are an invaluable asset to this community. 😎
  12. Hey guys, I'm trying to update from 6.3.2 and admin's post (here) refers me to @ljm42's excellent 6.4 Update Notes. These notes say to run the Fix Common Problems plugin, specifically the update assistant. The problem is I can't seem to find the Fix Common Problems plugin in the apps tab so I can't install it. Thanks in advance! **EDIT** So I tried to update CA to see if that was the issue, unfortunately I can't update it because apparently 6.3.2 is too old, rather than jumping to the latest release maybe I should update incrementally? On the plugin tab it is telling me that 6.5.3 is available...
  13. I've got a quick question, my sonarr is working as it should but when I go to the log there is a recurring error message and I'd like to know if it indicates a permissions error that may be a problem for me later, it says: Thanks in advance... Couldn't get total space for /UNRAID/var/lib/docker/btrfs/subvolumes/5be4b4d0c230dc13296a55f9b4a81589d9fc8cdc33fffb0b99b7df23a4fd7bb0: Permission denied The exception block says: System.InvalidOperationException: Permission denied ---> Mono.Unix.UnixIOException: Permission denied [EACCES]. --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at Mono.Unix.UnixDriveInfo.Refresh (Boolean throwException) <0x41fbdec0 + 0x000e3> in <filename unknown>:0 at Mono.Unix.UnixDriveInfo.Refresh () <0x41fbde90 + 0x00013> in <filename unknown>:0 at Mono.Unix.UnixDriveInfo.get_TotalSize () <0x42016a30 + 0x0000f> in <filename unknown>:0 at NzbDrone.Mono.Disk.ProcMount.get_TotalSize () [0x00000] in M:\BuildAgent\work\b69c1fe19bfc2c38\src\NzbDrone.Mono\Disk\ProcMount.cs:37 at NzbDrone.Mono.Disk.DiskProvider.GetTotalSize (System.String path) [0x00064] in M:\BuildAgent\work\b69c1fe19bfc2c38\src\NzbDrone.Mono\Disk\DiskProvider.cs:106
  14. Thank you squid, it took me a while to figure out exactly how to do this, there is surprisingly little documentation available but it was well worth it! Now my Sonarr config is persistent which is huge because resetting it all the time sucked. Just an FYI for anyone else needing insight on how to edit the dolphin docker template: Left click the dolphin icon as if going to webui ==> Click on edit ==> At the very bottom there are three links, choose "Add another Path, Port or Variable" ==> As per jonathanm's post below, add the appropriate information for Host Path "//" and Container Path "/UNRAID" without the quotes ==> Save ==> Apply and Dolphin should start back up with expected result of accessing all folders on the system. Your map paths were perfect! I'd actually struggled getting the initial mapping done (I used different paths) but then I re-read your post and adding these paths to the two locations and it worked on the first try! I appreciate both of you guys helping me with this. Yeah I started feeling like I was playing with fire for a while there, I'd ended up with folders in areas of the OS where I didn't mean to put them. I will probably try the docker because the config file is now on a data share and I can't imagine that's best practice but it works for now. I do want to learn docker, in fact I'd like to try and build one for my cuteftp (which I love) but I don't know anything about making a VM which I need so that I can run the docker making engine. That seems like a long walk that I'm not prepared for yet, but eventually...
  15. ok I will keep this in mind while making my attempt, thanks again jonathanm!
  16. Ok, I wasn't sure which you were talking about because sonarr is phaze's plugin and dolphin is a docker but I was mostly hoping to do this through the webui . I will Google some things on mapping paths in dolphin docker to see if I can find the needed folder. Thank you.
  17. My question is less about Phaze's plugin and more about file navigation in unRaid. I just need to cut and paste a file. Looking into squids suggestion now...
  18. I'm trying to move a sonarr config file located here >> /usr/local/Sonarr/AppData but I can't seem to get to it using Dolphin nor the file explorer on the main tab. I guess I can uninstall the plugin and then reinstall it but I'm hoping there is an easier way to navigate to the needed folder through the unRaid webui or even dolphin if I can. The way I'm navigating through dolphin is >> root/user/local but then there is no sonarr folder to be seen, any help is appreciated.
  19. Did you read the link in my post, I think that may answer it for you. I'm new to unraid so hopefully someone else will chime in but it sounds like that warning may be generic like the "are you sure" that Windows gives before making basic changes?
  20. This may be too simple but when you assigned it did you by chance tell it to change file systems? I have to assume not if the other disks are ok but you never know. Otherwise did you find this? Hopefully one of the experts will have some advice for you, until then I'd refrain from doing anything drastic until you're sure, at least you have retrieved your logs and such before rebooting.
  21. Okay I'll look into blackhole for sonarr, I'm also trying to figure out the remote mapping, I will see if unassigned devices can help with that, thank you for the direction. I assume you don't know about the Phaze, filebot plugin, his sonarr plugin shows the port to append to the address in order to access the webui but filebot doesn't show it as far as I can see... Anyway, thanks again, I'll keep working on this.
  22. ***EDIT*** So I'm temporarily abandoning my attempt at sonarr and trying filebot, I have it installed and for the life of me can't figure out how to interact with it. The github description says there should be a WebUI but I don't see it, if you know please advise. I'm guessing maybe there is no UI and it is CLI only? Hey guys, I need help with my Sonarr configuration, I'm trying to automate the downloading of files from a remote server to my home. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding what sonarr does? Current Setup Of Sonarr: In the sonarr webui => settings => download client I've used the details from my remote server which has the files I want to bring home, the test button at the bottom of the dialogue box says that it's working. Next I setup an indexer (I suspect that I may not need this as I don't need sonarr to send downloads to my remote server) and the test at the bottom of that dialogue says that it's also working correctly. With both of these setup I'm still not getting the desired files at home. If anyone can enlighten me as to whether or not sonarr will grab files from my remote server and bring them to the house and maybe point me to a guide I'd appreciate it. I've read through various forums and such but I must be missing something because it seems that it should do this unless the forum I'm reading is wrong. (Actually they mention mounting the remote server locally which I haven't figured out yet maybe that's my problem) I've considered using the syncthing docker instead but if I understand it correctly it syncs both ways and I don't want that because when I move/rename files I want the remote server to stay in its original state. Thank you for any insight, suggestions etc.
  23. Okay, I understand that, thank you. I've seen the DMZ setting but since I didn't know what it was I never messed with it.
  24. Okay, I guess I'm an idiot but what exactly does this mean, my server is Ethernet connected so that I can run it headless, in my mind that means it is connected to the internet. I could boot to the GUI open a browser (if I wanted to) and surf websites normally. I'm assuming that any docker such as plex has internet access too so I'm confused about how to not have the server "directly attached to the internet".
