  1. I would do it this way: Install unraid. On unraid you install a OS you like for your game server(s). All of your equipment is behind a router, i guess. Now only forward the ports needed to play the games to the unraid IP (or if you use br0 you could just use a seperate IP for your OS). This way you cant access unraid from outside. You only access the OS and the game itself from outside. I think good passwords and such things are standard. Or keep your software up2date (unraid, os, game server).
  2. Hey, just try to delete first the directory in the appdata (you could also make a copy of it) and then try to install. Did you found out why dockers didnt startet? Maybe something with your disks is wrong?
  3. You can make what you want. I just look at it on the user side. Also i try to help on forums, so, yes. If i set it to next, i want to have it on next. Ofc standard should be stable. So only the "expierienced" users will set this to next. As a user its not "normal" that you set something to "next" and it automaticle goes back to "stable" without message. So this is a bad design descicion. Thanks Squid. Atleast something
  4. Thanks, i didnt found the secret box for deleting ...
  5. Cache will only speed up if the files u transfer are at cache or go to cache. Anyway, i never changed anything and get around 50-60mb/s (im currently at rebuild parity, so this could affect this speed) read from array. To (and from) cache 100-150 mb/s also. Why you need fast read speeds?
  6. Thats very unintuitive... Not a feature, a bug, also bc i had set it to next before anyway. Do i need to set it now everytime (after i noticed that there is new version) and switch to next? lol. I always wonder why such design decicions are made. Its Like "who build the complexest software"
  7. I have a share which i dont need anymore, whats the correct way of removing it? (idc for the data)
  8. Thanks for clarifying. But when i add then 2 new disks, i dont need to rebuild, or?
  9. They arrived very quickly (bought saturday, came monday). But i must say, they are relative loud... like these old drives which do click noises.. but its np, its in a server cabinet..
  10. Hi, im just wondering. I switched a 4 TB with a 8 TB parity (i want to add 8TB drives to array). Parity rebuild already: Total size: 8 TB Elapsed time: 15 hours, 28 minutes Current position: 6.74 TB (84.2 %) Estimated speed: 123.1 MB/sec Estimated finish: 2 hours, 55 minutes Just a few questions... 1.) no array drive is spun up... how does he do parity then? 2.) Why its current position is over 4tb? (the biggest drive atm is 4 TB in the array)? 3.) If i click on tools update, i cant switch to branch "next" it selects always "stable". Also, im at 6.5 and it says i can downgrade to 6.5 RC4, that doesnt make sense to me!? (i would like to use latest RC)
  11. Thanks, working good and fast till now. I use it with the chrome plugin, so i dont need to let my pc runw hen i dl something... pretty nice so far. Had some problems continuing the old downloads... but i guess i just start from scratch....
  12. Yeah im sure i could run other software instead of plex, but that was the whol ereason for it, to have verything in on app
  13. No, or yes, i dont have hardware issues, its the software. I want 1 or 2 times a year TV streaming over plex (while on holiday). Plex integration is horror. Project seems dead to me.
  14. I guess best is remove DVB and forget it. Its a shame that its "working" so baldy in 2018 (atleast the way i want to use it)
  15. Strange question. At this time i dont know any remote exploit for unraid or "a game server". But who knows whats tomorrow? You can do that and i would do that. But the risk is always the same. If someone hacks your windows machine (your desktop PC) via browser exploit, he (could)knows all your passwords and could acess litterally everything. So, how safe is ur normal browsing? Unraid shouldnt be exposed to the internet and youre fine (thats how i go with that) You can expose your VMs/Dockers to the internet. If you own the coca cola reciept i would store it in a cold storage... btw that paneel looks very dead
  16. Hi, yes its the latest dvb version libreelec, i didnt know this makes a difference. Could you move it to correct thread?
  17. Seems to be known linux bug?! https://www.thomas-krenn.com/de/wiki/BUG_unable_to_handle_kernel_NULL_pointer_dereference_at_0000000000000304_beheben
  18. Hi, i just noticed my speed is only 10-11mb/s so i looked the log up, and found this: unraid-server-diagnostics-20180317-1407.zip
  19. Looks like refurbished or something, they are mostly "too cheap to be true" and mostly something isnt good (in this case, wrong raid controller)
  20. While that is true, im refering to his list. Raid Controller: LSI 9210-8I (IT MODE)
  21. Hm? Where to start. "Can i plug a rj45 ethernet on this Mellanox ConnectX-3 CX353A Single Port 40GbE QSFP+ Adaptor ?" I dont think so. But u could plug a new network card in it, i guess. "Is this config server is good for UNRAID 6, is there a weak component ?" What you want to do with unraid? thats the question.. my guess is now for some dockers, plugins, some storage... So, CPU and RAM are probably overkill (but works ofc), but no storage (u need cache (ssd) and hdds). The raid controller is only for 8 drives, so if you want to connect more, you need another raid controller.
  22. So i currently have a 4u server where i "thrown in hdds" (yea, rly) I want to change that. I would like a case for 16 hdds atleast, dont need to be hot swap, but wouild be cool. I learned the hard way that rack mounted is nice, but shit if u want cool and quit.... so i want to let everything in the old 4u server, and just put the hdds with some fans in a extra case. Is there anything cheaper? I would just put the new case on top of the 4u or under it. https://geizhals.de/nanoxia-deep-silence-6-rev-b-anthrazit-nxds6ab-600060655-a1218524.html?hloc=at&hloc=de&hloc=eu&hloc=pl&hloc=uk
  23. Yeah, i looked wrong, i thought it uses 5 watt while in idle...
  24. So, work very well, but (ofc) dont use for cache!? Do they really require more watt?
  25. As far as i know SLI is most used for gaming, for GPU farming et.c its not used so this should be no problem. Passthru is some work, but from what i read from others, its doable... But i really would go for 32gb ram, just to be sure, So unraid would have i dont know, 4GB and rest is for what u want to do, with 32gb you could probably let all run the same time either. (as long as u dont mine on the gpu where u want to play at) OR install first 16gb but so that you can upgrade later to 32.
