  1. I tend to buy the 5050 600/5M rolls. They are crazy bright.
  2. I just solder ends on to my 5050 strips. In the long run, they seem to be more reliable in the long run. These are the ends I solder on: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001RNHQ3S
  3. I will tell you that case has terrible air flow!
  4. I too started using voip.ms this week. I got a new DID from them, and Im transferring two existing numbers to them. They are offering free ports right now. So far, Im quite happy with their service.
  5. Thanks for this. I currently have a Windows Deployment Server running on one of my 2008 R2 servers, but I would like to boot other things besides Windows installers.
  6. It's a server...it's not meant to be turned off. I don't spin anything down either.
  7. Yep... Google voice is essentially dead in a few months.

I like the plastic clamshells. Ive collected quite a few of them over the years. http://www.ebay.com/itm/100-PCS-HDD-3-5-ESD-PACKAGE-BLISTER-CLAMSHELL-BOX-ANTISTATIC-CONDUCTIVE-/161144230780?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2584f1d37c
  9. Nevermind! It looks like the "KX" series has built-in IP. You used to have to add an additional module to get IP access.
  10. We used to use Raritan our datacenter. You do understand that the one you purchased will NOT give you any kind of IP connectivity? You also cannot control power.
  11. Looks like they finally have the i7-4770. I do not want the 'K' version as I will never overclock it and it doesn't have VT-d. They must have only recently started stocking it.
  12. According to the specs, those should work. However, SuperMicro tests their boards with specific RAM, so that is all I will buy. Server boards can be more picky about RAM than desktops. I'm running four Hynix HMT41GU7MFR8C-PB DIMMs.
  13. What is the exact model of RAM are you running?
  14. It should be fine as 2.0 has been shipping for almost a year. However, you never know when they find an old board on the shelf. Im pretty sure mine said the BIOS version on the box.
  15. If you are certain you have the correct RAM, I would try one DIMM at a time. I'm assuming your board has BIOS v2.0?
  16. First guess is wrong or bad memory. Have you tried it with just one stick? 5 short beeps + 1 long beep is a memory error.
  17. Microcenter is definitely the best place to buy Intel processors in the US. Also, they usually give you another $30-50 off with a motherboard purchase.
  18. And, the smb-extra.cfg file wont get overwritten when you upgrade.
  19. NewEgg does initially tell you that you will have to pay for return shipping. If you ask, or pressure them, they will waive it. I would imagine most people dont question it, so NewEgg makes a fortune.

  21. Sorry, but that board doesnt support 16GB DIMMs. http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/xeon/c202_c204/x9scm-f.cfm
  22. That would be awesome to use SCSI virtual disks. I have a fiber channel SAN for my datastores thats faster than a single SSD, that Im currently using for cache.
  23. If you buy a used one, make sure you perform a factory reset on it as the previous user may have made some changes.
  24. You can "connect and forget". However, you do get some management if you need.
