  1. I'm not sure if this is possible but I am accessing the VM on unraid from my main rig. I have a Logitech G502 and the VM does react to a few of the extra buttons, but it doesn't perform the correct action. Installing the Logitech drivers did nothing as it's not recognizing a Logitech device, which it shouldn't anyway. Since the mice isn't plugged in directly to the server machine where the VM is stored, how can I get the VM to recognize this device through the network? Is it going to be through some IOMMU trick? Or is this even feasible?
  2. Didn't think of the fact that seeding on the array would require the disks to be spun up all the time. Good point. I would love to automatically remove the torrents based on time/size uploaded but maintaining ratio is hard for those niche/old torrents that no one else would download. I guess doing it manually on an unassigned drive is still the best solution currently short of a seedbox.
  3. How is your setup configured if you're using a media server like Plex, but you're also trying to seed to trackers? An issue I'm running into is sometimes I need to rename things to have Plex pull in the correct metadata, but renaming anything will not allow me to seed the torrent. I also read about using symbolic/ hard links but my media is a user-share and I read that user-shares do not support hard links. Currently my setup is like this: Media (Movie1, Movie2, Series3, Series4): User share Seeding torrents (Movie1, Series3, Series4): Unassigned-disk However, this is obviously redundant and my unassigned-disk will eventually run out of space if I want to keep seeding more and more files. What is a better solution?
  4. Thanks for the tip. The password was generated and it just happened to coincide with this little issue. Will take note of that in the future.
  5. Hello, I may have stumbled onto a small bug regarding VPN passwords. The password I'm using with my VPN servicer contains a "&". The reason I think it may be the password is that every time I enter the password and try to pull the container down, I get this message: Warning: SimpleXMLElement::addChild(): unterminated entity reference <my_pw_after_the_&> in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix.docker.manager/include/CreateDocker.php on line 211 Every time I edit the docker again, the password field has been reset to the default. Additionally, I don't know if it's that error throwing the whole docker off but I also get this line right underneath: Removing container: binhex-delugevpn Successfully removed container 'binhex-delugevpn' After that, the docker log keeps repeating this message no matter what I do: 2018-02-20 01:00:24,953 DEBG received SIGCLD indicating a child quit e":"No such container: 4ca46b76cce4"} Hopefully more capable people will be able to tell me whether it's my set up that's incorrect or something with the code. I followed spaceinvaderone's video for the set up. Ninja edit: I found a workaround(?) by editing the pw field through the edit button and typing in the pw in quotes. Just typing it in quotes directly into the field did not yield the same results. I am able to launch the Web UI now with VPN enabled.
  6. New guy here, just fired up my server a couple days ago and I'm trying to add a VM running CentOS. I was able to run one successfully with VNC as the graphics card, but it was insanely laggy for some reason (help appreciated). But I'm trying to add another VM with the integrated graphics as the graphics card and it gives me an error: internal error: qemu unexpectedly closed the monitor: qemu-system-x86_64: hw/pci/pcie.c:686: pcie_add_capability: Assertion `prev >= PCI_CONFIG_SPACE_SIZE' failed. Here are my system info: What could be the problem? Edit: Tried SeaBIOS, same error.
  7. I'm going to be using this as a Plex server and running a couple of Linux VM's for development and learning purposes so hopefully they won't be needing more than 4 gb's of RAM. I won't be running the VM's simultaneously so will this decrease their RAM needs? I've read the QVL but there's like 6 to choose from for this model mobo. I've seen other RAM being used on partpicker and even Hoopster's signature does not mention him using RAM from the QVL.
  8. So after a bit of digging, I've picked out these parts: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cXhbqk Would anyone mind taking a once over on these parts? What I'm most concerned about is the RAM compatibility on this board. ECC is not a big deal for me and server grade memory costs much more than consumer grade. Case: Lian Li PC-Q25B Motherboard: AsRock C236 WSI CPU: Xeon 1240 V5 RAM: Team Elite Plus - 2x8 GB DDR 2400 (TPD416GM2400HC16DC01) Cooler: Cryorig C7 PSU: Corsair CX450 80+ Bronze Planned drives: 1 x SSD for cache 1 x 8TB WD Red for parity 1 x 4TB WD Red 1 x 3TB WD Red (owned)
  9. Really? I thought AsRock Rack's were somewhat decent boards seeing as how they're usually mentioned when talking about a DIY small-form build.
  10. My JBOD on my main rig is getting filled quite quickly and I've been dying to build a NAS for years so this year, I'm finally pulling the trigger. However, I need some help picking out components without dropping huge bucks for server-grade hardware that I won't need. Budget: as much as a budget gaming PC, around $400 but no real cap Drives: I've decided to choose the ever popular Lian Li Q25B case so my number of drives will be limited by this case. I'm mainly storing media files but I don't expect my array to outgrow the size of this case for quite a while. Add-ons: I will be using this rig mainly for Plex (minimum 2 stream support), torrents, and VM's (for project development). The relative add-ons as far as I can tell so far would be: Plex Media Server, UnTorrent, VMware Server/ ESXi, Docker( is this considered an add-on?) The only real part I'm set on is the Lian Li PC-Q25B for the case due to its capacity vs size. So I'm looking for any recommendations CPU + Mobo wise since I'm not familiar with a server build and what exactly I should be looking for. The AsRock C236 seems to fit the bill, mostly because of the promotions that's going on right now. ECC ram is not a huge concern of mine since its just video/side project files I would be housing. I'm open to either Team Blue/ Team Red for CPU but I'd rather not deal with Ryzen complications since I'm a novice just starting out. For drives, I plan to pick up an 8TB (BestBuy BlackFriday deal) for parity, an SSD for cache, and maybe another 8TB for storage (to start out and grow) or 2 x 4TB's. What would you guys recommend as a CPU + Mobo combo?
