  1. Ok, I've got the server back up and running and replace the registration key. My current storage config is: 4 x WD Red 8TB (3 for the array and 1 for the parity drive) 1 x Samsung nVme SSD 500GB (cache drive) 1 x Samsung nVme SSD 500GB (Unassigned device for VMs) I have now assigned *all* my hard drives listed above as Array Devices to the Disks section as Disk 1-6, with no parity assigned and no cache disk assigned. @johnnie.black, per your comment above just want to confirm that I should now: Start the array? See which drive is unmountable as that one is the parity drive Browse the SSD drives to see which one is the cache vs unassigned device Stop the array Re-assign the parity and cache drive Restart the array ...hold breath... Begin re-downloading / configuring dockers and plugins Apologies for being overly dramatic here....just want to make sure that I have step 1 correct so I don't accidentally start the array and hose all my data
  2. ok thx! Do I need to worry about using the exact same setting as I had before or will whatever I pick just be used.
  3. What’s the best way to restore all my shares? Is there any config data that I can look at in my array/cache to view them all and the correct settings for each (ie cache settings, etc..) Should I just try and recreate then from scratch?
  4. Hi, Thanks again for the continued help... have actually been working with a company to see if i could get any data off the USB drive but that didn’t work Ok, so it looks like I am going to have to start with a new usb drive. Trying to idiotproof this as much as possible here are the steps based on comments above and hopefully useful to anyone coming across a similar issue: Create new USB thumb drive using latest image from Unraid site Boot up the server using new thumb drive Server should boot and detect that the key is invalid. Array will be stopped Request a new key from replace key page and follow steps outlined there New key installed Try mounting all disks as data disks The unmountable disk should be the parity Browse data disks to find cache disk. Might require some digging as i was using the same disk type/size as an unassigned device for VMs Reinstall all apps/plugins by downloading them again from App Store and configuring them to point to the same data directory as before using the same settings. **Question**: I'm assuming I'll be able to browse the app data folders to view the previous configs as i dont remember what they were before? Is there anything else I'm missing? Thanks
  5. Thanks for your continued help @johnnie.black! Regarding all my dockers and VMs is there any chance I’d be able to recover those or will i need to recreate everything from scratch? I thought all the docker/vm data was stored on a share?
  6. I only have the link from the email when I purchased the Unraid license. ?Is there any way to find out which drive was parity, cache, etc..? Also reached out to Sandisk and the only thing they can do is replace the drive and try to recover the data for $275 + $100 if they need to fix the connection!!! Arggg... what a nightmare!!
  7. Argg, looks like it's completely dead... doesn’t even show up when plugged into my Mac ? I've bought a new usb drive and am in the process of installing a fresh version of Unraid on it and then will proceed with the steps outlined on the replace-key help page. Is there a how to article somewhere that walks you through how to restore your server? I really don't want to loose any dockers/VMs if I can help it and especially not any data.
  8. Hi, Just came back from vacation and noticed that my unRaid server was down. Rebooted the machine to find that the USB thumb drive that I’m using isn’t being picked up by my mobo anymore. Tried rebooting, unplugging, and a different usb port all with no success... Is it possible to check the usb drive on my Mac to determine whether the usb drive is dead or the unRaid boot files are corrupted? Any thoughts on how to continue debugging this? P.S. Believe I was running unRaid 6.5.2 using a 32GB Sandisk 3.0 usb thumb drive.
  9. Yea, would also love some step by step help on setting this up ? I’m hoping to use IGD for a LibreElec vm that I have so I can use that graphics card for something else. Looks like you’re using yours for OpenElec so hopefully its comparable.
  10. Hi, Just got this docker up and running but i can't for the life of me figure out how to rename folders in addition to files. Everything i've seen online mentions that you need to hold down Ctrl-Shift when dragging and dropping files onto the window although that won't work using the docker. I did found that if you right click the Load button it gives you the option of Selecting Folders or Files however even if i pick Folders only it's files show up.... Has anyone figured out way to do this? Thanks
  11. Gentle nudge.... I'm assuming this isn't currently possible as I can't see it as an option although I'm wondering if there is a more hidden setting or something i need to do to get this working?
  12. Hi, i know this is an old thread but it seemed like the best place to ask whether iGPU passthrough is supported on Coffee Lake (8th generation) chips? I have an Intel i7-8700K which comes with a UHD 630 iGPU but i can't seem to find that as an option to passthrough when creating VMs (LibreElec in this case). I do so an option to passthrough audio but no video card. Are these supported? Anything i can do to get this working? Thanks!
  13. Hi guys, thx again for the guidance... Forgot to put that one on the list as it scored low on my convenience scale . Not loving the idea of having to always connect to the VPN before using any services but that said i can live with it if you guys aren’t excited about 1-4? Given this option how are you guys accessing your Plex/Emby server remotely? Do you just have the port exposed? I have a few family/friends that connect to my server who would be pretty bummed if i cut them off
  14. Hi, is there any way to update this docker to the latest version of Emby. My server is currently on 3.2.60 and I keep getting notifications about 3.2.70 which came out on Jan 19th. I've tried to check for updates and even "Force Update" with no luck.
  15. Thanks guys! So just for my own clarification there are a few ways of tackling this: Setup VPN at Router I'd love to do this unfortunately my router isn't powerful to handle anything above 3Mb/s which is a fraction of my avail bandwidth Setup Open-VPN docker and connect directly to AirVPN and use their port forwarding to reach services externally Easiest solution but may not be as secure as #1 Setup reverse proxy LE docker to access all services remotely @jonathanm you mentioned that i wouldn't be able to use LE if connecting through AirVPN as they don't allow using ports. That said it is possible to map the external port to any internal port.Would i be able to use this to setup LE? Alternatively, could i use a different port altogether i.e. 8443? Continue to use @binhex's sabvpn docker to route all traffic through privoxy to vpn AND setup reverse proxy LE docker to access all services remotely This seems as secure as #1 although I'm not sure if its actually possible? Similar to #3 I'm wondering if i continue to route all docker traffic through sabvpn would I then be able to setup a "normal" LE reverse proxy for remote access seeing as i wouldn’t be going through AIrVPN i.e. using duckdns or something similar? As you can probably tell i have just enough knowledge on this stuff to make it dangerous so any additional guidance would be greatly appreciated!! I'm really just looking for the most secure, convenient, and maintenance free way of encrypting all my media docker containers as well as having a way to access all unraid services remotely. Thanks Fyi, here is the help for AirVPNs port forwarding:
  16. Hi @Fma965! I’m looking to take a stab at setting this up based on your guide and I’m wondering if anything’s change with the latest 6.4 release? Do we still need to install the LE docker? Should we use the Unraid UI to provision th SSL certificate? Still trying to figure this all out
  17. You connect to <custom name>.airdns.org:<generated port> Custom name can be a shortcut you specify like sab.airdns.org:43323 would be the full url. They also allow you to map the external generated port to a specific local port of your choosing. How this actually works i have no idea :)
  18. Yea, i've been meaning to look into this...might be a good time to do that now . Did you use Cyanlab's tutorial to set it up? Were you able to upgrade to UR 6.4 without issue? Hmm, not sure how it works to be honest Hi @gridrunner! I was thinking about doing that as well. So you mean that I would connect the Open VPN docker directly to my vpn provider, is that correct? From the little i've read online it seems that some people discourage connecting your UR server directly to your VPN as they say it poses a security risk where other VPN users could gain access to your server? Is that accurate? Btw... really love your tutorials!!!! I've literally spent the last three weeks going through them one by one setting up my server
  19. I've followed @gridrunner's awesome guide to setup @binhex's SabNZBd VPN docker which includes privoxy. I then proxied my radarr and sonarr dockers to use the privoxy proxy which seems to be working great. What i am trying to do now is be able remotely access the dockers that are using privoxy (sonarr, radarr) which isn't working. My VPN provider, airvpn, has a port forwarding feature which I'm able to use to access sab, but this doesn’t work for anything else. To be honest I'm not sure exactly how/if this can work? It seems like all vpn traffic is going to the sab docker and i then need to have privoxy forward it to the other dockers.... does that sound correct and is there any way to do this? Or is there any other ways to achieve this if i can't do it with my current setup? Thanks
  20. Hi @johnnie.black thanks for the response. I looked at VM manager libvirt log and you're right, it's full of errors! Any ideas what went/is wrong? You mentioned creating a new VM and pointing it to the vdisk, do you know how close it needs to be to get it working or what the main settings are? 21. I had an incident a couple of days ago detailed in the post linked below where my cache drive filled up and all my dockers got corrupted. Turns out that my Windows 10 VM also disappeared from the unRaid UI as it no longer shows up on the VM page. The strange thing however is that the VM is still there and seems to be fully functional and I’m able to remote into the vm using teamviewer. As part of the incident above I had to disable/re-enable Docker but I didn’t touch the VM manager settings. Does anyone know how I go about getting the VM back into the unRaid GUI? Spent a lot of time setting up/tweaking that VM
  22. Thanks @trurl! I’ll check out the min cache setting.
  23. I created a share for all my media files and set it to cache "yes". Then I started transferring all my media files from my other machine (3TB) to this share. What ended up happening is that the cache drive (500GB) ran out of space which caused a whole bunch of problems. My dockers, also on the cache, re-mounted in read only which seemed to corrupt all my dockers. I’ve since had to manually run the mover to free up space and then disable/reenable docker and finally reinstall the dockers to get everything working again. My question is why is this happening? I thought unRaid would automatically handle the out of space issue by transferring/saving files to the Array. Didn’t realize this could end up corrupting my dockers. Feels like I either don't understand how the cache works and/or have something configured incorrectly. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? Is there a way to prevent the cache drive from corrupting my dockers?
  24. Hi, I'm in the process of setting up for my first unRAID build and i'm trying to setup an 500GB NVMe drive as an unassigned drive to use for my VMs. I'm hoping to start with a Windows 10 gaming VM first and then later add macOS, Linux, and LibreElec VMs. Been searching through the forums and haven't found any tutorial on how to accomplish this. My questions then: How should i setup the unassigned drive? It's currently formatted in one 500GB xfs partition. I also have another 500GB NVMe cache drive. How do i change the VM Manager to use the unassigned drive? Do I need to move the domains and isos share to the unassigned drive or do those stay on the cache drive? Do i need to create a share on the unassiged drive? If i want to setup each VM with 50-75GB do i need to make partitions for all of those or does the VM Manager handle that? Should i change the mount name for this drive? It's currently the full drive model+serial number Thanks!
  25. OK, thx for the clarification. Was hoping there was a 1-liner in the cmd line that would do this but hopefully i can make it through this
