From the fix common problems plugin: /var/log is getting full (currently 80 % used) Either your server has an extremely long uptime, or your syslog could be potentially being spammed with error messages. A reboot of your server will at least temporarily solve this problem, but ideally you should seek assistance in the forums and post your Server has only been up for 32 days and just started getting this warning over the weekend. So I was about to move my entire unraid system into a new computer case and I read that it is a good idea to do a parity check before and after. My computer case arrived today so I started a parity check. Probably no more than 5 min in and my Parity drive is now disabled... This drive is just a few weeks old since I had a failure a few weeks ago and did a parity swap procedure with the new (larger than old parity) drive. I've attached my diagnostics zip file, anyone able to understand it able to confirm what went wrong? Should I go ahead and move the system to the new computer case anyways? If the drive is permanently broken, hopefully it is under warranty... Any help is appreciated.

I see this post is old... but nobody seems to have responded to it. I had a similar issue where my VM with a GTX 970 passed through would BSOD with the error VIDEOS_CHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR as well. I found this page while searching for why. I fixed it by going into my motherboard bios and setting the integrated graphics (iGPU) to be the primary. I think the BSOD was being caused by the Unraid host OS trying to use the 970 at the same time as the VM was. By choosing the iGPU in the BIOS, the Unraid Host OS will use that one instead, freeing up the 970 for my VM. Hope this helps someone.

I know this post is old... I have a VM with a GTX 970 passed through to it and I am wondering how one would set unraid to use the igpu when you boot it into gui mode?

Ok that makes sense. Thanks for clearing up my question about the zeroing of the parity drive. Sorry I didn't have much info, was in a hurry and heading out when I wrote the post and haven't gotten a chance to sit at the computer again since. I'll start the parity copy again when I do. Where do I get the diagnostics you're speaking of? Downloading the smart report for each drive or something?

Hi, I had a drive failure and I'm replacing it with a new drive that is larger than the parity. I am following this procedure https://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/The_parity_swap_procedure I made it to step 13 where it copied the parity drive over to the new drive to make it become the new parity drive (ran all night). Then when trying to follow step 14 to start the array and start the rebuild process, nothing would happen. I would click start and the page would hang until I refreshed the page, which would bring me right back to the same page as if I never clicked the start button. I then clicked reboot but after waiting 10min for it to reboot with nothing else to do I just held the power button down to kill it and start it up again. Now the server is back up and it looks like I'll have to start the parity copy process all over again... I'm not sure if I should do that because step 13 implies that the parity disk was zero'd after it was completed... so if I copy again would I just be erasing my parity? Any ideas anyone? Should I just start the copy again and hope it starts up after it is finished this time?

It looks like the drive rebuilt just fine, it mounted and everything and it also LOOKS like all my data is intact. Is there a way to be sure there is no corruption?

Just finished performing your recommended steps johnnie.black. Looks like disk1 is rebuilding right now! Hopefully it all works out just fine. Once it is done rebuilding, how do I run the filesystem check you mentioned above? Thanks again for all your help.

Awesome, I don't think I'll lose anything then if I can get that working. What are the steps to do that since disk 2 is "not installed" on the array configuration? Is it as simple as assigning the 2TB ST......3RPE disk there and assigning the new drive (when it comes in the mail) to the disk 1 slot and rebuilding? I feel like I may have to trick unraid into doing the rebuild since disk 2 hasn't been installed for a few days.

Nevermind.. read itimpi's post and got those turned on. On looking through disk 2, I have all that data backed up on another drive outside the server. As a matter of fact, I don't think I've changed any of that data so if I could rebuild disk 1 somehow, I don't think I would loses data. Is there a way to get that going? I have no idea how much of disk 1 is backed up since I can't tell what was on it... but if any of it wasn't backed up, it was probably just movies that I can eventually get again...

Yes, the one that is now an unassigned device was the original failing one, I couldn't get it to spin up at all before. Now it's mounting just fine as an unassigned device... How do I turn on unRAID system notifications?

Notifications as in the fix common problems plugin? I believe so. So it sounds like my best bet for not losing data is to try and rebuild one of the two disks if I can get one of them to work long enough... Disk 2 was being emulated so it would probably be better to try to rebuild that one since it may have missed some writes to it. Is that even possible though since I can't even get disk 1 to mount? Can I rebuild disk 1 with missing writes to disk 2? Am I screwed?

Hi, Last week I had what seemed like a drive failure (Disk 2). The device was missing and I could hear some odd clicking and noises coming from the drive. So I ordered a new drive and an enclosure (to replace the drive, rebuild, and check out the failed one). The enclosure came in and so I took the failed drive out and plugged it into my windows machine and it came up just fine (though I couldn't read it because it is xfs). I'm waiting on my new drive still but after turning the system back on it can no longer mount another drive (Disk 1) due to "No file system" and it shows that it has some errors. Other than that, it says "Normal operation, Device is active." Maybe my mistake was turning the system back on before getting the new drive... but it was emulating the failed drive (Disk 2) just fine before I changed anything. I'm obviously trying to avoid data lose... Do I need to order another drive and enclosure in order to clone data over before rebuilding or something? Could it be a cabling issue? I've had a drive come up as missing before when the cable came lose, but that was the first thing I checked when the first drive failed... maybe I bumped one or something? I don't know.. I just want to get it fixed. Attached the diagnostics zip as well as the smart report for Disk 1, I am running unraid 6.4.0, let me know if I need to add any additional information. I've googled "unraid wireless" a few times and the results show there to be at least one thread from every year in the past few years from someone requesting the feature or wondering how to do it. I live in a small one bedroom apartment where the only wired access to the internet is at a small desk between my bathroom and bedroom doors. There is not enough space there for my unRAID server and my gaming PC. I have placed my unRAID server in my living room by the TV because that is the only place I really have space. I also plan on having it run a gaming VM to play VR off of in the future (so I don't have to move my gaming PC back and forth for VR and normal PC games). I purchased an AC power adapter like this one based on most threads saying that is the best option... but I think my apartment building has too much interference on the AC power lines because I only get around 6megabits/sec... its not like its going that far either, my apartment is small. Running an Ethernet cable across the floor in front of doorways is not an option, and since I am renting the place I can't drill into the walls or tear up the carpet to run cables either... I own a pcie wireless card that I could add to my server but unRAID doesn't support it. With wireless AC speeds approaching the normal read/write speeds of a traditional HDD, I don't see a good argument to not support it other than the difficulty of implementation which I would not know of. Even just requiring a physical connection for initial setup is fine I think. I feel like there could be a lot of potential unRAID users that may turn away from using it because they won't be able to run an Ethernet cable to their machine. Like pwm said in this thread (the most recent thread I could find asking about the feature): Even though it is optimal to have a wired connection, it is not always practical/possible, especially when wireless would be a better/faster solution for people like me where any possible wired option is actually slower than my wireless speeds... so slow that I can't even stream plex movies to my chromecast from it... Pardon the lengthy post... I'm new here, let me know if I need to say something differently.
