Damn i come back from a long weekend and my post got many reply After reading all of it and searched for some price i decided to order 3 x 4TB. 6TB are too expensive at the moment, the best price i can get is 320$ while 4TB are at 175$ (Both are WD Red Edition) and im not sure if 6TB can be trusted for reliability (We had so much troubles with WD 3TB at work when they released it). With this purchase i will double my NAS space so it's will take some times before having to worry about free space, well i hope so Thanks for all the reply guys

Hey guys Currently im having 7x1TB including parity and a 160GB SSD as cache drive, each of them is in a Thermaltake Max4 for easy accessiblity. But now im kinda at a turning point, with less than 200GB of free space and adding more data each day i will max my raid really soon. So i have 2 option, begin to replace few drives including parity for something like WD 4TB or changing my setup to be able to stack something like 16 drives and add 8 more 1TB (We got tons of unused at work so i can get them really cheap). My questions is whats the ideal ammount of drives? Is there any drawback to always add more drives for parity or anything else? Any hint would be more than welcome Regards

I feel news, with cache enabled i get à 80-90MB/s, its way better. Thanks for the hint GaryCase

It's an old board so i only have SATA2 ports on it Just realized that cache isnt enabled by default on shares after adding a cache drive, im currently doing a parity check so i can't test it right now but i guess that will fix my problem

I wrote to LSI and they told me to try to put each drive in individual raid0 so it's might work as a JBOD in UnRaid (that didnt worked), else to forget using that card with UnRaid and get an HBA card instead. Finally i bought an AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 since its was a no brainer with UnRaid.

Hi there, I've done few modification to my Unraid computer and how im capping my Gigabit Network card when i read/transfert data from it (100-113MB/s). But for the write speed im usually more between 35-40MB/s with few cap at 60MB/s. Is there any way to increase write speed? im already using an SSD as cache drive, 6x1TB 7200rpm for data and the same for the parity drive, all plugged on a AOC-SAS2LP-MV8. Regards

Hi there, I got a LSI MegaRAID 9260-8i and plugged it in my Unraid tower thinking everything will works right away. Actually it's far from that and im not too sure on what to do, i tried with and without virtual drives but in both case Unraid never see the drives. I took few spare drives at work and got a tool in Windows to see what i had on my Unraid drives so i dont mind to restart my Unraid setup from scratch even if its means to take few days to transfert the 8TB back to it. So the real question is what i need to do in order to make that card working with unraid? Im actually using 5.0-rc16c but dont mind to upgrade to 5.0.5 or even Beta 6 if this gonna help. Regards

Hi there I just got a MegaRAID 9260-8i for free and plugged it right away in my Unraid tower thinking everything will works. Unfortunately, it's seems more complicated than expected... My Unraid version is 5.0 rc16c I got a 9260 rev 2.140.383-2315 and the firmware seems to 3.27.00 (December 2012) Everything seems to be detected at post but once in Unraid no disk are detected, I've saw few posts, some telling to put an other firmware so the card will be in IT/IR mode and others telling I need to add MegaRAID drivers to the Unraid kernel. I have about 8TB of stuff on that tower so I want to be sure I don't make any more mistake since plugging that card seems already to be one at the moment so any good advices are greatly welcome Regard

So far i have been able to move stuff from 4 disks and i have troubles with 2. One only show hundreds of temp folders on that share folder while the other one just freeze while accessing the share folder, other folders works just fine so i don't know what more i can do. Ill keep working on it but at least 70% of my files are recovered for now

Hi there I have one of my share that make unraid crash everytime i try to acces it, every other share works fine. Im currently running on 5.0-rc16c and dunno whats the best thing to do. Upgrading to the last version? Delete the share and do it again? If i do that does it's delete everything in that share? i dont have many info since my unraid server completly freeze so i have to reboot it manually when i try to acces that share...

Just found my bug and i feel like a real newb. It's looks like my VPN connection with work was interfering with the web interface. Closed the VPN and everything is working as usual..

Hey guys Well...my cat decided to sleep on the powerbar today and shutdowned everything (my computer and my UnRaid server) and now i cant access to my Shares or the Web Interface anymore. The only thing i can see when trying to access my UnRaid Server is the Flash Drive. Hopefully it's just because the Array isnt started but since i can't access the Web Interface i dont know what to do. Your Help would be greatly appreciated Regards P.S.
