  1. Funny, I was just about to put in an update. The latest windows prerelease build now crashes after 2 hours of idle, even without having WSL enabled. So yes, Windows 11 vms on unRaid is not going to work.
  2. I am having the same issues. As soon as the "Virtual Machine Platform" is installed, windows will hang after 5 or so minutes... No, BSOD for me though. I am running the latest Windows 11 insider build.
  3. wondering if you have found a solution? I am all of the sudden started experiencing this issue, where all of the sudden I loose network connectivity to everything. My VMs work up until I restart them, then everything is gone... I have to do a bunch of reboots to get it to work... I went as far as upgrading the entire system with a new cpu, mobo, ram, and nic.
  4. Strange... seems to be working now. Must have been because I started/mounted the drive after the Docker service itself was started. Thanks for your help. Greatly appreciated!
  5. I think I am doing something wrong.... I have installed the unassigned devices plugin on my unRAID 6.1.7. I have been able to mount an SSD drive that I plan to use for a VM. However, after I have mounted the drive I copy files to it, but once I reboot or unmount and remount, the files that I had copied are gone. The drive is formatted as XFS. Where am I going wrong? Thanks!
  6. Still haven't had any luck with this.... Is there any way of getting the information off these drives?
  7. Here they are... they don't make any sense to me! smartsda.txt smartsdb.txt smartsdc.txt
  8. Well that was completely disappointing. I am unable to run reiserfs on md1 (the one that is unformatted), ran it on md2, told me I had to rebuild the tree.. attempted that. When I rebooted the machine, now both disk1 and disk2 say they are unformatted and it appears that I have lost all my data as I no longer have any shares. Parity is attempting to run, but it is telling me that it will take 395days to complete for 2tb... So give up and format and start over? thanks syslog.txt
  9. Would that be the reason why the parity is slow? I attempted to do a parity check last night but it was beyond a crawl
  10. making some progress... I reverted back to a backup from October. Disk 2 is back to green but Disk 1 is still saying that it is unformatted. I am trying to get my important files off unRaid drives however it is extremely slow. It will copy files but stop after a bit the speed drops down to zero and then i have to click retry. For the most part it is working. On the console screen I am getting an REISERFS error. I guess next step is to run the reiserfsck util on my md2 drive.. any other thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated! cheers syslog.zip
  11. Hello, So it actually booted today. But disk 2 still comes up with a blue icon. Still not sure about disk 1. Here is my syslog. Thanks for your help/support, greatly appreciated! syslog.txt
  12. thanks, even if the disk 1 is green but says it is unformatted? would it still rebuild the array? and hopefully the data? Saying all that, I just tried turning the machine on and now it wont get past the initialization of one of the drives. I give up for tonight out of frustration (my snowblower blew up tonight (oil everywhere) as i was about to plow the driveway) So before I break more things I will attempt to fix things tomorrow. But if I were to get the machine to boot without disk 2 and replace it with a new drive will it be able to rebuild or am i basically just accepting that i am loosing the data on the drive? Thanks!
  13. Thanks Joe for your quick reply. I just unplugged everything. plugged everything back in. Now when I go to start the array, the icon for disk 2 is blue. Should i start the array? Jonathann, i believe i just typed shutdown -h now .... (which in hindsight probably isn't correct as it doesn't shut the array down properly) I have been using this for a couple of years, once I got it going I never touch it so I am not very familiar with things / troubleshooting.
  14. Hello, while renovating my basement i had to shutdown and move the unraid server. I shutdown the server properly ... thru the command line. But now when i turn the server back on, Disk 1 is now saying that it is unformatted. The unraid is now also extremely slow. While typing this, all of the sudden disk 2 icon when red with an exponential read and write count... I am running unRaid pro 5.0 - with 3 drives, 1 parity and 2 data. Any thoughts? thanks, Jeff
  15. well today, when it checks parity it crashes the whole machine. can't even connect to the machine itself. I have tried putting all the drives on the mobo's sata, and the machine will load, i will get the logon screen then it imediately restarts. i guess by a new mobo?!?!
  16. Thanks for your input... I will play around with it again tomorrow. Yes, it is an older mobo and cpu... a pentium 4 ht... The power supply is newer though. But I will look into that. The motherboard has 4 SATA slots, i have the parity drive on the mobo controller, and i have a pci sata controller that has the other 2 drives on it. I initially had all drivers on that and had the mobo sata controller disabled, but i thought i would try the moving the parity off onto its own controller. I guess what confuses me most is that the machine still runs when it freezes. Just all network connectivity appears to be cut off/shut down. I am going to try another network card as well to see if that could be the issue. i will let you know how i make out...
  17. Updated Nov 17: after doing some tests below and playing with hardware I am up and running! I swapped out the power supply and am now only using the mobo's onboard sata controller. thanks everyone for your input Original message: Hello, I am currently running 5.0 beta 13 and my unRaid seems to drop and kill all network connections shortly after starting a Parity check. I am able to log on directly to the box, but all network communication is killed. I have been trying to use unRaid since July, and i would say 90% of the time I cannot complete a Parity check without it crashing. I have attached my syslog before i started the Parity check, and then the terminal view of the syslog when the parity crashed. I don't see anything that stands out. Any help would be appreciated. cheers syslog.txt syslog.txt_during_parity.txt
  18. Still having this issue with Beta 11, can't get passed this. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks
  19. sorry dgaschk for the late reply. somehow the birth of my son has taken me away from playing with this. Nothing has changed on the server and no add-ons. What type of specs are you looking for? i have 3 WD 2tb ear drives. 1 parity - 2 data. Thanks.
  20. Hi, I am very new to this whole thing and trying just getting thru, so please excuse my ignorance/inabilities. I have been using the system for about a month now, playing between the 5.0 betas, everything seems to be working great (minus the TimeMachine issue with Lion). However, since I upgraded to 5b10, I cannot preform a Parity Check. I would say that it gets about 5% then completely freezes. All shares are gone, can't use the web GUI, can't terminal in, and can't even get a response from the system console itself. I have to reboot and start the raid again, and everything would work as before I started the Parity Check? Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated. Thanks, Jeff syslog.txt
  21. i am having the same issue... even when I tried it in 4.7 I eventually gave up using the AD portion, but would love to see it work!
