  1. I think the best solution is on the "Settings" page, simply add - default parity check to read only or correcting
  2. I can see most people here are not a fan of Onkyo, I have 2 of them and I am impressed. The oldest one is 4 years old and I haven't had any problems yet and they operate in a hot tropical climate. One of mine is a fairly budget model and the other was about $1,000 after discount. Both have a calibration microphone and automatically set up the system to give a flat frequency response and similar levels from each speaker for your particular room layout. The difference this makes is astounding and it's a feature I would highly recommend, it sounds horrible when I turn it off. I bought the newer one to upgrade to Dolby ATMOS and 4K definition. Apart from ATMOS soundtracks, I can't tell the difference between the budget and the expensive receiver. Years ago, I had the Bose Accoustimass 5.1 system with the dual cubes. It sounded great when new, but as the years drew on, it sounded peaky in the mid-range. I can only put it down to deterioration somewhere.
  3. Try MKVToolNix GUI It will do what you want, whether it will play is another matter
  4. It's a real shame there isn't a taller Antec 1200 available that would take 5 rows of 5 in 3's
  5. I am just rebuilding another drive (larger drive) and currently my Shingled parity drive is a couple of degrees cooler than all but 2 of my data drives
  6. Of course my "test" was fully planned so I could report back to other members who hadn't realised it was so obvious. It wasn't that I hadn't thought of the obvious
  7. Yes it is obvious, but I it's often the most obvious things we never think of
  8. I have replaced my 6TB parity drive in one of my servers with an 8TB drive and am currently building parity. One thing you shouldn't do during a parity build with a shingled drive is write more data to the array. I tried and performance dropped to under 10MB/s after about 7GB transferred.
  9. Out of interest, will you ship internationally? By the way, unless you had it stood on a high shelf, your 5 in 3's are upside down.
  10. I am guessing with a price in UK pounds, he's in the UK, whereabouts? Do you still have the box for the Antec case to ship it in?
  11. my pleasure, if you implement it then I'll have to go out and buy some SSD drives to use as cache drives. Maybe not suggesting it would have been cheaper
  12. Whatever you buy, I would recommend it has Dolby ATMOS. With ceiling mounted speakers, the difference between conventional setups is astounding.
  13. I would like to see an option with mover, that after it has received data and there is nothing more added to it for a user specified period, it moves the data to the array. I would also like to see a routine at the end of a move cycle that notifies you (email) if there is still data on the cache drive it failed to move. I stopped using a cache drive because when something goes wrong, you don't know about it.
  14. 2 parity sets in one box only protects from 2 simultaneous disk failures if they are in different parity sets, it is nowhere near as safe as dual parity across all the disks.
  15. I have a pretty serious problem with XFS having migrated both my towers, mostly populated with 6TB disks. A lot of my writes were deleting large media files and replacing them with even larger media files (of higher quality). The problem with ReiserFS was everything would often hang for a minute and 100's if not 1000's of reads would be made from the array before the write would commence, or even fail first time. Having migrated to XFS, the problem I am experiencing now, is that it is instant, and I no longer have time to go and make a coffee.
  16. Hi Carl, Indeed I did, I snuck in at the last 10 seconds to win it. I have 2 of these built by Greenleaf already populated with 6TB disks and I'm running out of space. Does it have quiet fans or is that an upgrade I need to ask Greenleaf to do? Bruce
  17. The last one I shipped from the US to Thailand was $500 shipping with USPS, as soon as you cross borders it starts to get expensive. I now have an address in Minden, Nevada for freight consolidation and it's a great way of shipping in bulk.
  18. Top shows the full 8GB, so I guess it's just a bug in unRAID
  19. Both systems are on 6.1.1 Is there any way I can prove it is seeing/using all 8GB?
  20. OK, I didn't check the BIOS for RAM, but I did pull out a stick of RAM (it has 2 of 4GB sticks installed) and I got a result showing 32MB installed. Attached are 3 screen shots, Tower2 with a single 4GB stick, Tower2 with 2 of 4GB sticks in (8GB RAM) and Tower1 with 8GB RAM. Can anyone tell me why Tower2 is only showing 32MB/64MB whilst Tower1 shows 8200MB when in the 8GB case, both servers have 8GB RAM installed? Is unRAID only seeing 64MB? this might explain why cachedirs doesn't seem to work on Tower2?
  21. I ordered an Athlon II processor that clocks about 6 times faster for $45 delivered. I'm not German, but they do have a saying... "Better is the enemy of good" and I really can't be bothered to do much more than swap the CPU and check the BIOS to see why it's only using 64MB of the 8GB in there. Even that is a pain in the a?se as I run them headless.
  22. I did think about changing the motherboard, but need to get my head around all the work involved
