  1. Yup...apparently I'm confused. I'm using a WD router - in the DHCP client table it doesn't show the unraid server...even though it's there. I could manually add it through the WD router software but would it screw something up?
  2. More of frustration thing. So far unraid works for me exactly like how I want it. Unmenu works also (for lack of a better term but I hardly use it) and I want to upgrade and I'm freaked that upgrading will screw up what I've already done. Buuuuttt... I do appreciate your help bkastner! If you're ever in Michigan I owe you a beer. welp - trying to uninstall and then install did absolutely nothing....what to do, what to do....is the DHCP the "obtain IP address automatically" on unraid?
  3. Re-enable DHCP on unraid? *starts to bang head on wall*
  4. Yeah but that didn't work either. I'm thinking I should just do an uninstall
  5. Umm...it automatically deletes my gateway...Should I just do an uninstall of unmenu and start over?
  6. Perhaps I'm not really finding out what my issue is. This is the error on the bottom - You must have a DNS Nameserver and Gateway defined in your unRAID setup before you can continue.. For most people, these are both set to the IP address of your router. So I'm guessing the Gateway is Gateway in the network settings but what is the nameserver? Also - I use the default gateway address of my router as the address for the gateway? Sorry if this is covered somewhere in the wiki but I'm having a hard time finding the info.
  7. Has anyone thought to add one? I don't just want to add another box to the storage shelf if I don't have to (space is tight) Thoughts?
  8. Ok...I was just wondering. Thanks. I had that that I had already reached that high-water mark....If I make a change from high-water to most space will it mess anything up?
  9. Hello...I started out with 3 drives and have been adding on as money becomes available. Now are my settings right on the new HD, do I need to do anything or will it automatically write to it.
  10. Ok - I'm working on 5.0 beta 11. I've got some user shares and started with a few HD's. Now the shares are "high water". I've added a few more HD's to the server and it reads it and I can manually write to them. Do I have to add the share names to them or will the system automatically move over to them and start all that?
  11. Sorry, I used unMenu to format it in reiserfs and then put it in the array. I was just wondering if maybe I was preclearing it wrong or what not. *shrug* A little isn't going to make that big a difference.
  12. I was curious what you guys make of this? It was precleared without using any tags (maybe I should use a tag?) and I tried formatting through unmenu before putting on the array. Any way to make it completely usable? mkreiserfs 3.6.21 (2009 www.namesys.com) Warning: start=64 - this looks like a partition rather than the entire disk. Using fdisk on it is probably meaningless. [use the --force option if you really want this]
  13. I hate to bring up a dead thread but I was wondering - running preclear probably wouldn't tell if I've got a defective system? I've got an old 250 GB HD that I was going to throw in there for S&G's.
  14. I hate to resurrect a dead thread but has anyone tried this with beta 11 and tips/tricks (especially for a noob with limited linux knowledge?)
  15. I use a mixed system but most of the unRaid in the house works with Macs. I have yet to use it other than as a media server though
  16. The dude with the 200 TB of storage made me pee in my pants a little. I dunno what I woudl do with all that or come up with the money.
  17. Raj - After, "unsuccessfully" trying the whole cache drive experience and having to restart a new array build some few times because of it I am super hesitant to go down the cache drive path but I'm pretty interested in using it for adding NZB, couchpotato and sickbeard. Is there a way to try a HD in the cache position and then if I don't like it I can put the settings back to just as if I had restarted?
  18. Hello all, I know this isn't a terrible "storage" related question but I was curious as to what people use for downloading torrents nowadays. I use Vuze but so far have been pretty unimpressed with the speed lately and have thoughts of moving to transmission (yeah I'm a mac user) What do people use?
  19. I was wondering what people use to find files that are multiples of the same? I.E. the same song in multiple locations. and What user share level do you guys use to back up your music lists?
  20. I just did that with both Skynet and the internet addy and it didn't work. WTF? I get this error in syslog... Sep 2 12:26:47 Skynet p9100d[2811]: Connection from 192.168.0.198 port 61426 accepted Sep 2 12:26:57 Skynet p9100d[2811]: Finished job: 0 bytes received, 0 bytes sent Now when I run an ipconfig from the windows machine it says it's ipaddress is 192.168.0.180...Maybe that's why its not printing? How do I open it up then for the windows machine?
  21. Actually it let me order it and then in the middle of the night someone from there e-mailed and said they had to cancel my order due to not enough cards. WHAT BS. I will never order from their again.
  22. I grabbed one too even though I'm not really close to needing it.
  23. Seems like an awesome price. I wish I had more available funds right now to get two of these. http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?p=AOCSASMV8O&c=fr&pid=2ab702f41225793ce26e47fa32171b35091d4fc9638ce2de6b0d2812b81e1de6
  24. I'll try that and let you know ------- Edited - I tried everything man (except for making a USBlp001 port like in MAC) including the following http:NETWORKADDY http://NETWORKADDY http:Skynet http://Skynet http:NETWORKADDY:9100 http://NETWORKADDY:9100 http:Skynet:9100 http://Skynet:9100
