  1. Hi, What is the best way to start over again with all new disks? I've read that unraid stores info about the existing setup somewhere so I'm worried it will somehow mess up if I try to start all over again. I'm going to give my unraid computer to my son with all new and bigger HDs for his video editing. I don't care about losing the existing data as it's also on another machine. Any help appreciated, thanks. Paul
  2. Thanks for the info... Now I'm not sure if I should move to SSD or stay with HDs. I'm planning to use 3 Samsung 512G SATA SSD 860 Pro. On the reseller website it says that it's suitable for NAS but can't find any statement about that on Samsung's website. "PWM" says as long as there is no TRIM, I assume unRAID wouldn't have that option anyway whereas Windows would. Any more thoughts before I take the plunge? Thanks, Paul
  3. Hi, I currently have 3 HDs with one being the parity drive. I would now like to replace the HDs with SSDs and move the motherboard etc to a new PC case. Everything is backed-up so can I just unmount all HDs and start again with SSDs? Will unRAID complain that something is missing...? Any particular steps that I should take. Time in not important so I'm happy to start fresh and copy all data from the backup to the new system. Any help appreciated, thanks. Paul
  4. Hi, 1. I have 16G of RAM and unRaid is using 15G as cache, is that normal? (I did an extensive search for certain file types yesterday and found over 6,000 matches, but wouldn't any cache be cleared by now?) 2. My son does a lot of video editing and I am considering building an unRaid system for him as a gift, will a SSD cache screw up his editing as it seems that it writes the SSD cache to HD at a predefined time so I'm a bit confused about the operation. I assume if the disk cache is full it will immediately write to HD but what if he's in the middle of a render or something or if he accesses the final version file before the SSD cache has written it to HD. (Sorry, dumb newbie questions) Any help appreciated. Thanks, Paul
  5. Found the problem, the IP address had changed. ? I'll make it static. ? Thanks, Paul
  6. I'm not sure, version 6.x (I just purchased it about 3 weeks ago). So it was only an incremental update not a full version update. Any help appreciated.
  7. Hi, I just logged on to my unRaid system and was prompted to install the latest update which I did and restarted. Now I can't see it on my network to login to the web interface and the shares do not show on the network. I assume I don't need to plugin a keyboard and monitor after every update. Help... Regards, Paul
