OH MY GOD.. I just pulled out my server rack thats in my server room, its under the stairs in the basement built just for this purpose etc.. I haven't been behind there in a long time. So i go in there and saw that my unRAID server was plugged into a smartswitch.. How much you want to bet its the stupid smartswitch causing some kind of reboots? IT HAS TO BE!!! I just removed it. I never really removed the cable from the smartswitch not thinking anything of it because i have spares back there and was plugging them from the front end of the plug.. Fingers crossed this is it!!! There is hope! 🤣

appreciate the ideas, because im out of them lol.. so if i rebuild the image, i would have to reconfigure every docker, etc right? also, what about the data on the disks?

Hmm, in your bios do you have it set to automatically turn back on after power cuts? This sounds like a power issue or possibly the same issue I have but in my BIOS i had to set it up to automatically power on, restart and also turned off quick boot.. Try that and i bet you may see same issues i am having because mine would just shutoff as well. but i think that was mostly related to quickboot in the bios. And, i also have some power monitoring that everything feeds through.. Good thinking maybe i should remove mine too. Although, no other devices are impacted. This runs switches, servers tons of equipment.

This computer, every single hardware component has been replaced, down to every single cable. Completely different motherboards too. The computer prior to this was rebooting too. That’s what lead me to start replacing parts one by one. The psu was the last remaining piece that wasn’t replaced that I replaced this week. I have like maybe 2% of what you have in plugins and dockers lol. My setup is so basic. I don’t have much at all. I Literally use it for just my media server. I do run an lsi 9211-8i but actually with the drives I have they are directly attached to the board and my other hotswap bays are on the card but I have no drives in those bays. So the question is, what is possibly happening outside the server that may be causing this? I’ve even replaced all network cables, switches the server is attached to etc. there is not one component that hasn’t been moved or replaced with something new. It’s nuts. But then, why is the sever rock solid in safe mode? I just had another unclean shutdown about 1hr ago. So far I had one last night at 1220am and now again around 7pm. 🤯 my backups are solid. That is a good idea maybe I’ll load unRAID to a brand new usb drive and just let it run without any configs and see what it does.

Check on the 1st page they are all listed about half down. System has run fine in safe mode with all dockers enabled but no plugins enabled. Ive already tried to disable a bunch so far, the main ones suggested like the GPU, Nerdtools, still rebooting =(

I run through filtered power. And have a server cluster with ESXi and truenas 3 hosts. Zero issues with those. All part of the same 20amp circuit. Nothing else runs on there but my servers. Mine has literally been going on for a year. It seems like it started ever since I upgraded the OS like 3 versions ago. But then when I reverted back it was still rebooting. So who knows.

Well, unclean shutdown at 2am. Ran for a little over 2 days with the new PSU. This is beyond ridiculous at this point. 🤬🤬🤬

I replaced all the cables as well with mine. i was actually using custom cablemod cables with my EVGA.. I went with the corsair RM1000e and those use a type4 cable. So all new cables.. So far so good on my end here. No Reboots "yet" fingers crossed.. Sometimes i go 3 days before a reboot but its mostly once every 24hrs.. If i make it 4 days i would say the PSU fixed it.. At this point my machine is 100% new, every single hardware component.. If it still reboots you may see a guy from Chicago on the news for letting off an explosive on his server.

Yep same day delivery with Amazon. I literally got it 2 hours after I ordered. Crazy.

New PSU is installed.. Lets hope it fixes it.

Thats a good point it’s just strange in safe mode it’s rock solid. Why would the PSU care what mode it’s in? But it could be a plugin that runs that the PSU can’t handle it and it fails. So I guess it makes sense.

Will definitely buy a PSU this week and try that. I think it’s easier than dealing with one plugin at a time. And if anything I’ll have an upgraded one as I’ll get at least a 1000w this time form the 850. If it fixes it great, if not. One plugin at a time it is 😂

No coil wine or ticking noises. I do have that plugin though. I was actually thinking about disabling that one next as I was looking through the list. This has been going off and on for almost, what feels like a year now as I’ve slowly replaced parts throughout the year. No crashes just unclean shutdown reboots. Logs show nothing.

But these issues dont happen in safe mode.. If it was hardware related I think it would still be happening. Only thing being disabled are the plugins in safe mode and system runs stable.. I would think PSU issue too and ill probably replace it just incase eventhough it was bought new a few years ago. EVGA 850w.

Nope, i am SO frustrated with it!!! Disabled those 3 plugins as suggested, still rebooting. Literally if i am doing one plugin a day ill be here weeks trying to see which one may or may not cause it.. Kind of ridiculous.. Has to be a better way to figure this out. All i know in safe mode i was running for 6+ days zero issues with all dockers enabled.. as soon as i returned to regular mode not a few hours later the reboots started happening again.. so it has to be some kind of plugin.. Maybe i will just remove everything and add things back as i go. Maybe that will be more efficient.. Either way i am so over it 😡

Not 1 hour after taking it out of safe mode, it randomly rebooted unclean shutdown =( Ran for 6 days straight, all dockers enabled, no plugins.. So its obviously some kind of plugin issue.. Anyway to just disable them without removing them completely? I dont have anything out of the ordinary in there. Here is a list. Maybe there is a known rebooting issue with one of these? Shot in the dark. Thanks I’m going to take it out of safe mode today and see if the reboots comeback. If they do then I’d assume it’s some plugin.

So far, zero reboots. All dockers are started now. Still in safe mode. Still haven’t enabled plugins. Let me ask you, what else does safe mode do? I would say at this point whatever it’s doing is obviously stopping whatever it is causing the reboot. I wonder if some plugin has an issue. It would seem strange. I don’t run anything crazy. Not sure where to go from here. I haven’t gone this many days in over a year.

I think that is my next step. So far, rock solid.. Ill enable one at a time and see what happens.. I did recall seeing some random errors from NPM a few days ago.
