so i found a way to fix ntfs in unraid.. but its not working right i added in my UD script of the hard drives
so once it mounts the drive it will run the repair of ntfs
i did
ntfsfix /dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD6003FFBX-68MU3N0_V9J4LJ1Lwell it didnt like that
Mounting volume... NTFS signature is missing. FAILED Attempting to correct errors... NTFS signature is missing. FAILED Failed to startup volume: Invalid argument NTFS signature is missing. Trying the alternate boot sector Unrecoverable error Volume is corrupt. You should run chkdsk.so i did
ntfsfix /dev/sdo1and it did some stuff but it didnt work as i tried to copy to the drive and got errors so i re ran the above and then told me it cant fix it

Mount the Drive
Run a Windows Check Disk Equvalant i figured NTFSFIX
and then it can copy
and i went by byid as by dev/sdo1 is going to change each time you plug the drive in...
and i not sure if i should post in here or the main general

ya and when it came back up the one would resume where the other didnt... and i not sure if its cuz its 16tb as i pre clearing a 12 tb so thats going to be a week.. and i used the 2 16tb in my array for my backupserver... but ill re test in a week the 12tb doing reboot... i figured maybe its due to they 16tb drives not sure.. but so far i usually use it on my backup server the preclears as i dont bother touching it so it can work while my main server can reboot etc

ah ok good to know... and then sometimes the reboots dont save the resume preclear status to the flash drive.. as you seen in the syslogs... guess its a flip of the coin? when it does save to the flash correctly.. as it hasnt been working or with those 2 16s one saved other didnt save so had restart it... probably something to do in 12.2 as 11.5 i never had a problem with resuming..
once these finish there 3 cycles i probably just gonna downgrade back to 11.5 too many issues with 12.2 so far ill wait a few months for the next fix and try it then..
nothing perfect.. but do appreciate unraid .. and the great programmers as yourself making these great plugins 🙂

i currently doing a preclear on a 12 tb i started yesterday.. but in middle of night unraid crashed i guess... no monitor so i hit reset button.. there was no resume and no sys log so incase power goes out or crash maybe preclear cant resume
i then restarted a new 3 cycle ran it about 2 min and rebooted... and then i could resume its almost a hit and miss i wondering if i should just downgrade my backup server to 11.5 since it seems more stable then 12.2 i already downgraded my main server from 12.2 to 11.5 and its cleared up alot of issues i was having.. dont think 12.2 is just ready to be stable yet

ya what i always do is
unmount and then try to power down drive icon and then unplug but i find everytime i use windows and power down.. and then when i plug back into unraid where it automounts for me and when i run my rsync scrip to copy files off the array the drive is corrupted so it wont copy the files over till i shove back in a windows VM in past or a Windows machine and you goto properties and do the check.. to fix any errors and then i can shove back into unraid and then re run rsync
so what i wanted is.. i plug in my music drives then the UD automounts and then i wanted it to do a windows Check repair style version before it runs the rsync to copy from the array to the ud drives

@dlandon oh didnt see your reply .. i dont get notifications of any replies in email or so.. so i just keep the browser windows open and just refresh for replies
but ya the 2 16s are the only 2 drives being precleared.. so i re start it and do the reboot.. and the resume option isnt there..
just that one time where i mentioned the 1 16tb saved a resume so i could resume but the other 16tb made me choose to restart from scratch
and the other 2 disks in the server are my array disks

@dlandon i remember you mentioned when i said a while ago if i unplug ntfs drive from windows it gets errors reason the errors shows up in rsync for my UD drives... but i also do remove drive safetly.. or i shut down windows with the usb drives plugged in but if i plug into unraid afterwards and try to rsync to the drives... they get errors.
so my question is... since i gotta run check disk on the usb drive in windows
my question is is there a unraid/linux script so when i plug my ud drives in that the script will run a windows style check disk and correct the errors each time i click the mount button....
and my 2nd question is
on my main server i reinstalled plugins etc.. i dunno how to get back the UD attachment under VMS at the bottom of the VM page
and my USB Manager i used to be able to mount a USB drive attach to a VM but i no longer cant.. keeps saying Mounted to Unraid even though its not mounted...
and the Passthrough when do can i use that is that so i can pass through the HD to a VM reason i wanted to know for undapting nvmes firmware instead of taking it out of the server and shoving into a windows machine.. to try to see if there is an update

were there any other tests you wanted me to try on my backupserver on why the preclear wouldnt resume after the reboot?
as i tried it a couple times same thing wont resume but it did resume that one time but only on one of the hard drives

@dlandon ya i did what you asked to do but i re did it after they finished there preclears incase i couldnt resume again
so what i did was a i chose preclear on both drives i set them to 3 cycles
then i did a reboot..
i re checked the resume isnt there wanted to restart ... and then i send you the syslog you wanted.. from me having started that sys log server

@dlandonso my preclear finally finished... so i did a re do of the 3 cycles i did a reboot.. and came back on there was no resume
here is the sys log hopefully finds out why and on my back up server its 6.12.2

@jinlife oh ok.. least you helped me get back up and running i would never though to just reformat and start over... i was worried i had to re doe the dockers and vms but all i had to do was the plugins and i had to copy like my user scripts over and didnt reinstall all plugins i should do the same with the dockers as i dont use them all... or never use them just installed to plan to use them

@jinlife ah ok ill wait for that... are you still running 11.5 or up to 12.2?
and so things running better so far... but if i enable my Bridge mode on my network cards
it hangs in boot up saying device not found...
why does that happen... does your driver fix that as i dont get an error on BR0 which is the bridge of the Onboard Network card.. i just get the errors on the Bridge mode of the PCIe 4 Port Network card...
i havent tried anything as it is running better then before so didnt wanna test.... well not till i backup the flash drive at the moment.. since i not getting those mover and rm errors

i also notice the system temp cant detect my fans now from this clean install of 11.5 so i cant do the system fans only detects the chipset fan weird i tell ya

@ljm42 im on right now 6.11.5 no the delated bootup was a problem for a year i think it just imported the slowness from the other versions maybe a glitch
as i had a mover error as it wasnt working and it showed it in the bootup like in my previous messages youd see the errors.... then when i upgraded to 12.0 1. 2. it got worse i had wind something error and nbm error or something its in my above.... so the other guy wwas helping me... and then suggested basiclly go back to 11.5 that 12.x just isnt stable enough
like at this moment its faster then it was.. its now hanging at the br2 br3 br5 doesnt exisit it does it three times before it gets to the login
but if i turn off Bridging mode on the lan ports then those errors dont come up and then its a bit faster now
its faster then it was,... it used to take about 15 min to come online with all the hanging it was doing

@ljm42 ok ill play with them.. its very anoying i did get it work faster re formating the usb and installing 11.5 again and doing like 2 3 plugins install and do a reboot.. as i was thinking it was plugins or network cables....
i do get some other errors maybe you know

well you can see in the above pic it shows it doesnt exisit.. yet it does exist as its linked to each of my ports.. i use for home assistant
since my very old switch cant run multi vlans through 1 port so i gotta make them through multiple lan connections
would you happen to know why its saying that? thats another point it hangs at
i use 1 lan port onboard.. and then i use a 4 port pcie card
and is it best to stay with 6.11.5? it seems i picked up alot of errors running on 6.12.2 even a clean install i got alot of errors

what is that.. and why does it hang i have disabled my nics i have uninstalled the plugins except CA and user scripts and it still hangs alot there... what is that really?

@ljm42 ok i read that part i not sure do i need this line in the go file?
echo y > /sys/kernel/mm/lru_gen/enabled
it talks about you need to add it to the go file but the next line says you want to remove that line.. so i confused
and how do i manually force them all to update? it didnt say what to type to get force update all
if i use the force update under each docker.. i get this error

got it working i needed the dockermon folder from my backup of my usb had to copy it back over to the plugin folder to get it to least update... always something.. hopefully when 12 is stable i will re upgrade... trying to work out all the bugs i seem to have... too many plugins i think lol

@jinlife so i shoved a video card in and booted up my main server the one i have 2 nics 1 built in and other is a 4 port
and at moment with just CA installed as plugins and i have my network cards setup in bridge modes it hangs on the network cards br0 br1 br2 etc
does the logs say why its hanging on those... does the 4 Port nic need your driver? other then that and the docker issue it seems to be booting better
least its not taking 15 min or so to come back online

@jinlife ah ok i run into a problem so i on my main server i wiped the usb
i installed 6.11.5 and copied some cfg files for the array..and got it to boot up with just 2 warnings that seem normal.. but when i start the array.. i have docker issues
and none of the dockers work... is it because i had upgraded to 6.12.2 and it cant downgraded i bet? and i cant even edit the docker files...
so i might try upgrading back to 6.12.2 just to get my dockers to start working again as i get this error

do you happen to know if some plugins clash with other plugins? like ones to avoid if you got one or should they all work together fine independently

@jinlife ya i see you changed you reply thats why.. as i read your first reply where you said the driver works in your computer so there is something else wrong with my hardware... but now you got a new edited reply saying the built in drivers should be fine..

ya i bounced back to 11.5 seems to be goood on the archive server... if 12 isnt stable yet.. do you know when it will be stable? is that why there is already three updates to it? 0 1 2 so far?
and i appreciate your help so far... i will tackle my main server and start fresh... is it only the plugins is causing it? because the array isnt on
i also finding mover isnt moving files off the cache drive at 12am
im going to re do all three servers go back to 11.5 and re start fresh and install plugins one at a time.. hopefully cures all the slowness and hanging in boot ups

update...
so same result
doing a clean install of 6.11.5 installing your r8125 plugin reboot.. and the eth0 is removed and no longer can be used... did the same like in the above video but this is for a 8125 but you mentioned my driver is a different one.. so doesnt that mean it wont work?
i havent tested on main server as it uses a Asus x570 Strik-E Gaming board so it slightly different from the Tuf board

so i did this test.. as i cant do anything yet with Tardis main server
so i did the k-9 Server..
i erased my usb
i installed. 6.12.2 i copied over the key file
i booted up. and created a password to login
so i was able to get into the system
i installed Community Apps
searched the r8125 and installed
i rebooted.. and the network card no longer works
the activity light on the nic isnt flashing just the green one...

@jinlifeso i going to try this.. i moved all the files off my flash drive for my k-9 server that wasnt working for your plugin..
i downloading and installing 6.12.2 and then ill copy my key over.. and then ill try to install your driver like you had me.. and ill see if ia blank system if the network card disappears

ok ill try the

while unmounted..
so i confused.. why cant you run a ntfsfix while mounted? if you were in windows its mounted once you plug in and run checkdsk.. how come you cant do the reverse... i guess id have to edit my user scripts script
that it would run the ntfsfix on 3 drives
then mount the drives... then copy the data to the drives ..
all in the same user script but not sure how you mount a drive from the command line

it tells me to run chkdsk but i tried in unraid there is no chkdsk... false advertising i see
