  1. Quick Summary - was getting cache unmountable, used unraid forums, fixed it and then it happened agained. Fixed it again and then it happened again. Back to the forums - great resource btw... and I started the process to move Apddata, Domains and System (all were on cache), ran unbalanced and came back after moved. Cache had nothing on it, and all the folders were created on array. So far so good. Rebuilt the cache as per forum. All ready to go.... Started to boot linux VM (HASS OS) and couldnt locate the .qcow2 file on array. Other Windows VM images all good. Perplexed so I went back to Unbalanced. Check History and getting a bunch of rmsrc red buttons and after reboot my unbalanced logs dont have much. Now this is one hundred percent my error, I don't normally rush things and check and check again. I suppose given this was giving me fits for about a week, I thought I was ok, as the casche drive was empty or at least was showing up as empty. I lost a bunch of dockers but I had Appdata backup so I can restore. I haven't started to consider how many hours of time I have lost. So before I go and start that process, I thoguht I would reach out and see if there is anything I can do. I do know that I will not be putting anything on the cache drive again. Especially since you can't restore it. I have had Unraid for years and never had a single issue. I suppose I assumed you could restore a cache drive but I also suppose I didnt quite think that through. The best lessons are sometimes learned the hard way. If I missed something here let me know. And if you are persuing this because you are having issues with cache drive. confirm unbalanced moved all your files and back up your VM's every so often if they are on cache. thanks in advance
  2. Hi - while i mostly solicit the forums to figure out what i have done wrong and how to fix said user error, I am wise enough to know when I need to go to the experts. I mostly use Unraid for back-up and media; and it has been a long time since I set-up my unraid server. Details are below. Recently, I have discovered the world of docker, VMs and have been delving into the world of Home Assistant. As I have expanded the capacity of the unraid server, I am finding that I am starting to run into overhead issues; namely CPU is largely maxed and my RAM gets tapped out more frequently. Currently this results in waiting for processing or running scripts but I did notice increase write/read times moving some files. So I am faced with the proposition of a) upgrade on the cheap - (max out RAM on board and buy a new processor). or... b) toss the motherboard, and rebuild the guts of the box. Realizing how old the guts are of my build, does it make any sense to try to wring out a bit more from it or should I not bother given the benefits of new MB/Processor? Also, there used to be a section in the forums where there were different builds and price points - does that still exists/is it updated for 2020ish timeframe? I am finding it hard to locate what a bare bones kind of 2020 build is to compare/spec out. thanks in advance M/B: BIOSTAR Group A880G+ Version - s/n: None BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 3. Just wanted to provide some feedback and say thanks I came home to a dead flash last week and after the initial freakout and locating my back-up, I ordered 3 (yep back ups!) new cruzer fit. Got some time tonight, put 6.0 on the flash (why not?) and updated with my config and then ran the util to get a new key. Within minutes up and running again. And slick interface.... Now while I spent the week reading forums, I ordered a card and some more disks. I hope this is as easy..... great stuff all around
  4. Thanks a bunch - worked right out of the gate. Quick question, I have set to no size limit, but want to change after i have installed. How best to change that setting?
