  1. I'm invoking a move now so it goes to the array. And maybe that will help
  2. I think it is in my cache drive
  3. Here is the shared folder screenshot. Sorry I am having to remote access from my phone.
  4. In the shared folder it says domains free space =382gb
  5. Sorry if their is already a thread on this but I was having trouble finding it. When I launch my 2nd windows 10 vm it gets to the load screen before windows and then the vm pauses. I've attempted to add ram and 2 more cores (originally 2 core and now 4) but it still pauses every time and randomly it will launch the windows repair tool. Any suggestions on what the problem might be or some kind of diagnostic that I can post to help? A bit new to unraid so still learning.
  6. when i go to user shares and the vdisk is in domains. it says that the domains are all stored on disk 2 (2tb disk that i am keeping)
  7. how can i tell if it is in the array or inside the vm image?
  8. well i currently have the cache setting on the appdata and domains set to "yes". i assume that this allows quicker downloads and access and when a move in invoked the data gets put on the slower array. so not really a need for redundancy. so i bout the 500gb ssd to add a cache and had a 120gb ssd laying around. but i might be misunderstanding the purpose of the cache pool.
  9. ok. my main fear was the mobo and cpu. afraid they will need to reformat the drives which would suck because i would loose both current vm's with months of saved game data from everyone on the server
  10. also for the cache drives would i be better off buying a 1tb ssd or 2 5gb ssd? current configuration is raid 0 with 500gb ssd and a 120gb ssd
  11. so just like the procedure in replacing a dead drive?
  12. not sure which forum this should be under so i thought i would try here. i have built a server with a bunch of random parts to function as multiple gaming host servers 1st i plan to upgrade from my outdated xeon 1620 to a ryxen 1700x which requires new cpu, ram, and motherboard. i know it will work with unraid but fear loosing my vm and potential saved game data. any suggestions how to do this safely? 2nd i plan to add a 6tb drive to the array and replace a old 1tb drive which appears to have nothing on it. as well as adding either a 1tb ssd or 2 500gb ssd to the cache. any suggestions how to safely do all this with minimal chance of loosing data?
  13. i tried to search but couldnt find what i was looking for. i currently have a lenovo s30 as a vm server/nas. my issue is that the case does not accommodate more then 3 hdd and i was wanting to add more to my array. i think that the motherboard it also a proprietary layout so i dont think i can get a larger case. but my gaming pc is in a fractal design r6 case and has a ton of room for more drives and is right next to the server. my question is, is their a way to put the hdd's in my gaming case but have them part of the array in the s30?
  14. im not sure which or how to diagnose that. i know on my router log it has alot of entries that say telnet. not really sure if its related or not
  15. update: did more looking and they did get access to my router somehow and i think they changed the server to dmz so they could access it. luckily i guess they didn't see my gaming rig and it has eset security on it so hope its relatively safe
  16. been using unraid for a few days a setup 2 vm's for gaming servers. unfortunately i believe that somehow someone has hacked into the server and im not sure how they did it or what i can do to get them off. i increased the routers security and made sure the windows security was on but this morning i checked the servers and both show changes and accessing websites that i have never been to on the vm's. such as ip-score.com gmail and logging into my router. luckily it appears that they could not get into my router and doesn't appear to have been able to access my network or gaming computer. at the moment the server doesn't have any potentially valuable information but was planning on backing up my gaming computer to it which could. not sure what to do and need help.
  17. I successfully have gotten it to run 2 servers over night. Now to check for stability. Any way to tweak or Increase the graphics performance without dedicating a passthrough graphics card? Also I'll need to buy some more ram aswell but wanting to try and increase the performance and stability of the server
  18. Got 2 vm's setup and 1 is currently running the game but the 2nd one won't run it at all. Even when I close the 1st one. Any ideas? Also any suggestions for gpu setup? Doesnt need much power, just the stock settings on the window 10 template are a bit lacking in performance.
  19. any suggestion on a usb drive or brand for a reliable one?
  20. Well I hope the el-cheapo 32gb usb 3.0 I got from microcenter will hold out.
  21. Got it all started this morning and formatted the 2tb ironwolf drive and the sad is a cache drive. Really liking the gui. Very easy to understand. Question though. Something mentioned that the key will be locked to the USB that I installed unraid ti. Does that mean that if the USB ever does, I lose the key or is their some way to transfer it to another usb?
  22. so either way i will have to start from scratch using unraid? i dont have any important data on the driver really. i would just like to avoid having to download the games on each vm due to it taking 4 hours and i am not able to copy it. also the ssd is easily removable with the ez swap evo so thats not a problem. also now that you mention "cache slots" can i use the ssd for a cache drive? if so that would be awesome.
  23. and sorry for the delay in response. i didnt see that i got a reply
  24. ok i was under the assumption that unraid was similar to esxi where i would have to wipe everything and start from scratch. i do have a 120gb ssd that i will install unraid on and try launching it. ive done the same with multiple vm's but currently i am trying Hyper-v and i build both vm's from scratch with their own hardware. each has a assigned gpu, ethernet port, hdd, and dedicated ram and cpu cores. both vm's run just fine and even at the same time. the issue arises when i have ark playing on both at the same time. one of the ark instances will crash. im not sure about the conflict in license but i can run ark on the host server and 1 vm server and it works ok. so i am thinking it could be a hypervisor issue. as far as faulty hardware, i think everything seems to be running ok and hardly even using any of the provided resources. the only hardware that appears to be used heavily is the hdd but both have their own and 1 is a few days old. so im not sure. being new to unraid, any chance someone can point me in the right direction to a guide to get started that is similar to my use case?
  25. i have been trying to to setup a nas and multiple gaming servers using VM's and having very little luck on every hypervisor. at this point i am not sure if it is the hypervisors or a microsoft thing. the main game i am trying to launch is Ark Survival Evolved (Microsoft store version). ive gotten it to run stably on a single vm but when i launch another 1 or both of them will close after a few minutes. the main issue is their is no crash report so i have no clue what the problem is. i was wondering if unraid might do better? other then seeing it on linus tech tips i dont know much about it. any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. i am including a link that shows the benchmark of my lenovo s30 server that shows most of the components incase it helps. http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/9964646
