Thanks for the info. I think I have everything to get the job done. It is a windows install with a media centre program. The licence isn't a problem as I have legitimate licences to put in for activation. This is all about saving work and replicating configurations. Thanks again for the help chaps.

I had a similar issue with one of my asus boards. In the end up having to remake the Rebootable from my backup. Not sure why but it might be worth a try

Are the sensors accurate for drive temps? Are the comparable to the smart readings?

The system I want to copy is pretty simple. It comprises of a asus p8h61m motherboard, 4gb of Kingston ram, a 1tb wd green drive, an xcz psu and a i3 2100 CPU. I'm using the on board hdmi for the video and the on board nic with static ip but ill change that on the new machine before I connect to the switch. I'm able to get identical hardware easily for everything except the mobo. If I can manage to find one would you say it could be a straight forward operation?

No it's not for unraid its for a copy of a HTPC connected to the Unraid. Want to have copy machines running in the kitchen/dinning room and living as slaves to the primary in the cinema room. Would the lack of something prevent the machine from booting? I mean if I couldn't get an exact board could I slap the drive on something similar and go from there?

I am wanting to build a system with the same mobo I have now. When I turn the system on the bios shows the model of the mobo (asus p8h61-m) but when I search for the mobo I get 3 or 4 version with different letters at the end (lx, le, mx etc) but p8h61-m on its own. I'm planning to use a cloned drive for the OS, would it make a difference if the new mobo didn't have the same letters at the end? Would the drive recognise the hard ware ok or would it have to be the exact model with the same letters at the end?

Personally I'm somewhere in the middle on this whole issue. On the one hand I am desperate to move to 5.0 from 4.7 to take advantage of the 3tb+ drives but but on the other hand this is my only server I am not confident enough to upgrade and risk something going wrong. I think it would be sensible to keep this in the rc stage for now. How can something be labeled final and stable when there are known issues. Like the other poster said, the people who are willing to play with the rc versions will no doubt upgrade to future rc releases to test things and those who need the piece of mind will be happier to wait rather than upgrade to a final that kicks up problems. In short my vote is wait for final.

How do you multiply the output if you only have 1 header?

Firstly cooling... My system is built in a lian li pc343b case with 5x 5in3 hotswap caddies each with an 80mm fan in the rear, 2x 80mm case fans and 4x120mm case fans. The case has 3x 5.25 bays spare. All the fans might seem a bit over kill but I like my system cool. At the moment I am using manual fan controlllers to control the fan speed all set to maximum. I'm looking for a way to automate them so they speed up/slow down according to the temps of the hdds. Can anyone suggest some hardware that can monitor the drives and adjust the fans accordingly? Secondly, I want to reinstall Unraid because over the years I have installed, uninstalled addons, tweaked this and that and generally didn't keep track of what I did. If I was to delete all the entries in \boot\packages and delete all the lines config/go script except #!/bin/bash # Start the Management Utility /usr/local/sbin/emhttp & Would this put it back to stock?

Don't know how or why but its all back now. Just come back to life.

i have no access to the webgui. I have tried connecting using both the ip address and the server name but just get a cannot open webpage error. I can access unmenu but when i try the unraid main page i just get a red cross. I have access to all my shares and files. I am using version 4.7. My setup has been working perfectly for 2 years with out a single problem except for one red ball. I have attached my syslog. Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this. Just double checking it will do what i want before I buy it. With true image. I can read a remote computer that is on the LAN and clone it's hard drive to the local computer with the new hard drive in?

This is kinda storage related as it involves cloning a hard drive, well that's my reason for posting this here. This is my problem. I have a HTPC that is running perfectly in the cinema room and I want to run an identical htpc on the same network for the living room. My HTPC accesses my Unraid where all my rips are stored and I want the second one to do the same so we don't have to boot up the cinema whenever we want to watch a movie/tv series. Would it be possible to simply make a clone of the first HTPC hard drive onto a new drive and install it into my second HTPC system using something like trueimage? Change a few drivers for the different hardware. I know I will have to change the windows licence to a new one, which I already have. It would just be soooooo much easier to do that than start trying to get my settings all the same. What do you think? Is it do-able?

And you don't notice any performance sacrifices? Last off topic question I promise.

Bobpheonix: you have a lsi controller to intel expander in your sig. How many sata ports do you have/what is the maximum with this setup?

Thanks for the replies. There was a typo, Levy was meant to say leccy as in electric. Dam ipad autocorrect. That's not too bad at all. going on an average of 100w is it will cost roughly £120 a year...ish. It solves all my problems. Unraid for 1:1 dvd and bluray rips for the cinema room and remote access via whs for my music and divx movies. A little off topic but does esxi/Unraid allow the disc to spin down when not in use?

I don't mind who answers, just looking for a ball park figure really. I'm going to running whs2011 with 1 2tb drive and Unraid with 8 4tb drives. Just looking at whether its going to make my levy bill go through the roof.

Can I just ask what sort of power you pulling with you esxi build? I think I am going to virtualize Unraid along with whs 2011 and just wanted to see what the power trade off would be like. Sorry if this has been covered I skimmed all the posts but didn't see it anywhere.

Is it possible to make a complete back up of my server? Would I have to use something acronis?

Sorry for being a bit of a tard but how do you install this script? What do you do if your mono only has one fan socket? Can you use splitters?

Nice! How can a giant like ms allow such a rediculous bug? I find it hard to believe they didn't know about it before they released it.
