  1. Hi guys I am considering upgrading from a xeon to a 2950x. Im sure a lot of other members are considering the same. Could someone be so kind as to catalogue any outstanding issues with threadripper that have not got a solution. I know there is a @SpaceInvaderOne video on Ryzen, but I think it would aid a lot of people with this kind of decision if the current state of threadripper and VM is documented. Thanks for any assistance on this matter
  2. Question: Do people notice a difference in performance between 64GB and 128GB? I get that the extra 64GB could be used for plex transcoding but I was wondering if unraid makes good use of the additional ram for caching or something?
  3. Q35 didnt work for me with my lg 144hz monitor, couldnt set the resolution to 144. Will apply the other tips though, thanks
  4. Must be the E-ATX version not the X99-WS
  5. I believe that mobo has 2x pcie x8 slots so should work fine I dont believe you will see a great performance increase if you got faster ram, but others may have different opinions. I have 64gb 2133 ecc and never really use more than 16GB for a vm. The rest is used as temporary cache I believe As with a lot of things unRAID, ymmv
  6. Depending on your budget I would recommend a 1070 or 1080.
  7. 64gb also. Waiting for prices to go down before going up to 128gb
  8. Hi Guys I have the above xeon but I cant get my head around whether turbo boost is working or not. I have enabled it in the bios but cpuz reports 2.4ghz in VMs irrespective of load. I read in the forums that VMs only report base clock so I was wondering if there is a way to tell if turbo boost is working or not I have an asrock extreme 4 x99 mobo Thanks
  9. It just said command failed. Managed to get it working now via --device /dev/sr0 --device /dev/sg8 Thanks for the tip though
  10. Hi I currently have 2 x 500gb ssd in raid 0 for cache and a few VMs on a 1tb nvme via unassigned devices. I am wondering whether performance would improve if I moved the vms to the cache and then passed through the nvme for games., or would it not make much difference? I dont have heavy docker use just deluge, couch potato, makemkv and handbrake Cheers
  11. im having an issue getting —device /dev/sr0 added. Every time i add this line into extra parameters and press apply the command fails and handbrake uninstalls. i know sr0 is valid for my dvd drive as makemkv uses it without issue Any ideas please? This docker looks excellent and id love to be able to use it
  12. Thinking about shucking a seagate backup plus 8TB. Has anyone recently shucked this and if so does the drive have the 3.3v issue? Thanks
  13. has anyone else had issues with a 1080ti and a windows 7 vm? This used to work but doesnt any longer - black screen on boot which doesnt change. Works with a 750ti. I have tried various windows 7 isos. Thanks
  14. Hi guys I have downloaded some .img of recalbox and I am trying to get this working as a vm. I used the linux template, seabios and attached the img as usb hard drive. On booting stops at booting from hard disk. If I try the batocera img then batocera does boot but doesnt allow my xbox one controller to be passed through Any thoughts on how I could get recalbox working as a VM appreciated Cheers
  15. I have my VMs on a dedicated nvme drive in unassigned devices. If I were you i would get another ssd and put your vms there More cores isnt necessarily better - probably 4 vcpus and 8gb would be the max dependent on workload of vm Can always use more memory. I have 64gb ecc
  16. This didnt work for me. I added the commands above to the console for Jackett but the error remained SSL error. Ended up using couch potato also by LinuxServer which doesnt require Jackett to work
