  1. I just discovered that my Unraid server had an issue and failed over with the following error: cron for user root /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix.system.stats/scripts/sa1 1 1 &> /dev/null After a quick Google search, it seems this may be related to the Dynamix System Statistics plugin. That’s not very helpful for me, since I’m running several Dynamix plugins, including: Dynamix System Buttons Dynamix System Information Dynamix System Statistics Before I start removing plugins, could someone please confirm whether this error is actually related to the plugins, and if so, how I can resolve it without simply uninstalling them? I also noticed another error: Common Problems: Error: Invalid folder disk contained within /mnt I’m not sure if this is allowed, but I have an SSD set up as an unassigned device, and I’ve pointed my Plex Media configuration to: /mnt/disks/plex This SSD is automatically mounted through Unassigned Devices. I’ve attached my diagnostics log file. If anyone can help me understand the cause of the above error and advise me on the /mnt issue, I would really appreciate it.
  2. can someone please have a look at the diagnostics- log file to see they can find out why I loss access to the WebGUI, and not the File structure. I discovered that I was not able to access the GUI, after I tried to update my Plex Docker. and I was force to reboot the server. and as a result I have loss all the media scraping for my media files, and have to rescape all the posters, file information etc. I look forward to hearing why my system fail over. tower-diagnostics-20251004-1915.zip
  3. if anyone else if trying this, here is the command I am using, as it will filter out the unwanted information and only show you the temperature storcli64 /c0 show temperature | grep temperature
  4. very quick background - for the past few years I have ran my unraid within a VM on a proxmox server, but of late I have been having ext4-fs error (dm-1): ext4_journal_check_start:84 errors, and after a lot of running around and google the hell out of it, I have now came to this issue. one of the posts were talking about that the error is not the cause of the issue but the symptom, that with my type of HBA LSI Raid controller Serial Attached SCSI controller: Broadcom / LSI SAS3008 PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS-3 (rev 02) that it will overheat and then loss connections to the attached hard drivers that in turn will then course the proxmox to crash. good, I might have found the issue, but when I try to find a way to install or monitor the temperature of my HBA, I am running issues into finding the storcli software or any dockers / contactors that will allow me to run in unraid. so does anyone know how I can monitor the temperature ? or a easy step by step guide on how to install third party software
  5. thanks for confirm, that it is a 12TB. you have to love Amazon - I will run preclear and cycle and extended SMART just to be sure that all is safe
  6. I just purchased a 10TB hard drive from Amazon to add to my RAID. However, when I checked in Unraid to run a PreClear, I was surprised to see it detected as a 12TB drive. I double-checked my Amazon order and the label on the drive itself, and both confirm it’s a 10TB model. In Unraid, it shows up as: ST10000DM0004-1ZC101_Z0ICRX0 Will this be an issue in my environment? My plan is to move this new drive into the Parity slot, then move my current parity drive into the array.
  7. @ecrispen yes I have upgraded my TS-469 to a unraid server, I am using a USB Pen Drive as my boot drive, and within the BIOS I have made this my prim boot device. and then within the caddy's I have created my RAID. the only thing I discovered is that I have to increase the RAM from 1GB to 3GB, as when I tried to update the OS I learned that I needed more RAM.
  8. does anyone know the storage storage is written to the hard dive, is it sequential or Shingled? as this will be going into a NAS enveronment.
  9. thanks I saw it posted in there, but I just through that it was for a pool of hard drivers and not the a cache drive.
  10. hi jorgeB, I think you missed my point, all my hard drive's all are seen within the Unraid dashboard, but when I try and assign the cache drive, there is no option to assign the HD as it is not listed.
  11. I am using Unraid version 7.1.2 After a system crash I had to rebuild my unraid environment and in doing so I have to create a new config. when I when back to assign all my drives back I was able to do the main RAID hard disks with no issues, but when I try to assign the cache disk, I am not able to locate it. as it is not listed in the main device drivers. all I can see all the Disks under devices, I see the option for Pool Devices then I see the Boot devices unassigned disks / remote shares and historical unassigned devices but no Cache Drive can someone please tell me where to find it.
  12. Good morning I just discovered my Unraid had crash due to a issue with the proxmox having a funny five mins, I was able to bring it all but up with no issues, but when I log into my unraid to check that environment I saw that it has 798059 errors when it did it last Parity check. I then look in the Parity-Check 2025-05-24, 20:14:46 (Saturday) 10 TB 20 hr, 58 min, 53 sec 132.4 MB/s OK 798059 I have kick off a second Parity Check to see if it finds then same errors again I have added the two log files - the Syslog and Diagnositic logs in the hopes that someone can help me, as I have looked at them and I can't see anything jumping out at me, screaming "I have a issue". I look forward to hearing from you. tower-syslog-20250525-0909.zip tower-diagnostics-20250525-1005.zip
  13. after a lot of playing I was about to get mine to see the fans, 🙂 so my question is - at the moment I have send mine to the following and it will spin down the fans, but will the fans come back on, if the temp is to high ?
  14. has anyone got any experience with the QNAP 469 Pro model. as I have just set up my unraid on this and so far no issue's in the setting up but at the moment I have two issues, the first is the fans are running at full speed, and the other the display screen thinks it is still booting up. I have looked around and I have installing Dynamix FAN Controller Plugin, but this is not founding anything - any ideals ?
  15. I have a old QNAP 469 Pro - I have been able to install Unraid on it with no issues but like other people my fans are running at full speed. I also tried Dynamix FAN Controller Plugin, but this is not founding anything - but apart from this, the transfer over to unraid on my Qnap has been painless
  16. thanks chaps, @JorgeB if I may ask - how did you find this information ?
  17. I am looking at purchasing some large TB's hard drivers, but then I read up on the specs a lot of them don't mention SMR, CMR or PMR. I have seen the following on Amazon - Seagate Enterprise Capacity v6 10TB Internal Hard Drive ST10000NM0046 SATA 3.5" HDD 256MB Cache MDD - HGST He10 (HUH721010ALE601) 10TB 7200RPM 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5inch Enterprise Hard Drive (Renewed) I have google around and found that you can find out via the Smart data of the hard drive, but running smartctl, so as a test I have ran this on one of my old 10 TB hard drivers, below is the test. I have looked through and I can't see anything that talks about the technology, can someone please point to the right location root@Tower:/dev# smartctl --all /dev/sdg smartctl 7.4 2023-08-01 r5530 [x86_64-linux-6.1.74-Unraid] (local build) Copyright (C) 2002-23, Bruce Allen, Christian Franke, www.smartmontools.org === START OF INFORMATION SECTION === Device Model: WDC WD101EMAZ-11G7DA0 Serial Number: V******P LU WWN Device Id: 5 000cca 0b0cd5dec Firmware Version: 81.00A81 User Capacity: 10,000,831,348,736 bytes [10.0 TB] Sector Sizes: 512 bytes logical, 4096 bytes physical Rotation Rate: 5400 rpm Form Factor: 3.5 inches Device is: Not in smartctl database 7.3/5577 ATA Version is: ACS-2, ATA8-ACS T13/1699-D revision 4 SATA Version is: SATA 3.2, 6.0 Gb/s (current: 6.0 Gb/s) Local Time is: Thu Jun 27 09:07:52 2024 BST SMART support is: Available - device has SMART capability. 18. thanks @JorgeB don't I feel sheepish - I have now set it and I can now see the share. time for testing.
  19. good morning all, I have check my settings for SMB and they look OK, as I compared them to my other Unraid server. I have attached my Diags qnap-diagnostics-20240623-0858.zip
  20. I am just testing to see if I can breath new live into my old TS 469-PRO QNAP. I have been able to installed unraid on a USB and fire up a trail licence, and I am able to see the environment. at the moment I only have one 10TB hard drive which I have assigned to the array, and then formatted. so far so good. I then when and created a new share called Media, but when I go and try to see if I can see the share in windows SMB, all I see is a empty folder. I then tried to mount a NFS share from my main Unraid to my test unraid, and again I can't see any shares. but when I go and have a look at the shares, what I see is a orange triangle informing me "Some or All files unprotected" so my question is: because I only have one Hard Drive, that at the moment I am not able to use unraid or because I have missed something and I need to do something else with unraid OS due to the fact that I am using a QNAP tin ?
  21. thanks for sharing I have a TS-469-Pro and I am looking at converting this to unraid - as at the moment I have 4 x 4TB hard drivers in it, and my main unraid is pushing 18TBS of data, which is not good. I have been looking around to build a new unraid or proxmox server, but if I can just confirm my QNAP to unraid and then install 10TB's into it, then I am laughing.
