thanks Frank1940. that fixed the issue, I didn't realise that the root account don't allow me to connect to the Unraid server. now onto onto the fstab command. :--) Update: ok what Frank1940 said works, but then I ran into a differant issue. when I set the permissions on a user share to be secure and then define my user permissions to have full access - I discovered that the root user only has read only. is there a way to give both users full access ?

Unraid as VMWare ESXi Virtual Machine Performance?
chris_netsmart replied to 1da's topic in Virtualizing Unraid
thanks for the info -
I have been having issues trying to create a mount to my unraid server. I have check the permissions, and at the moment there are set to public I then went to my linix VM machine and type in the following commands I haven't done anything yet in the fstab as I wanted to make sure the that commands were right first. I have checked my SMB settings and there are enable and set to yes I know that I am on the right path for the command, as I was able to mount a share on my QNAP with no issues. can someone please point me to a document or source that explains why I am having issues ?

Unraid as VMWare ESXi Virtual Machine Performance?
chris_netsmart replied to 1da's topic in Virtualizing Unraid
I am also thinking about moving my bare Unraid installation onto a ESXI server, like to the top post I have found some documentation, and youtube videos on the subject but I would like to know how people has got on with the virtual machine, and share their experiences and rough performance stats my current bare machine is : motherboard : B450 TOMAHAWK, with 16 GiB DDR4 of RAM, Nic 1000 Mbp. I also have a Ubit 6-Port SATA III 6Gbps PCIE Controller - which allow me to expand my stored. I understand that I will need more ram, and that my motherboard might not be up to the job, which is why I am looking at a new CPU xeon CPU, and motherboard. one question I would like to know, does the HD's spin down as when I have VM Unraid ? in the same manner as a bare metal unraid does. -
is this a know issue with Linux (Home Assistant) VM's
chris_netsmart replied to chris_netsmart's topic in VM Engine (KVM)
this is my thinking and it is becoming a pain, as I had a schedule shutdown, and copy of the qcow2 file, but now when I do the schedule shutdown / copy the VM. the VM no longer restarts. which is a pain. I also discovered that after I had reset the RAW to qcow2, my Home Assistant boots with no problems, but then the supervisor no longer starts so I have to do a repair and restart. frustrating as hell -
I have just ran into this problem, and after a few hours headbanging a wall, I got my VM to work, but I don't want to keep on going through the same steps every time I reboot my VM. the problem I am getting is that for some reason the follow line keeps on changing to resulting in the VM not running, and I have to then go in and change the word raw back to qcow2. and this then course Home assistant - supervisor to fail which then again I have to run some commands to get that up and running. I just created and fire up a Windows 10 VM, and this seems to be ok, any ideals ?

[Support] Linuxserver.io - Plex Media Server
chris_netsmart replied to linuxserver.io's topic in Docker Containers
I hope that someone can help I just rollback my unraid server to 6.9 to get someone else to work, but in doing so, my plex server is now showing my the following error when I try to start it my question is: if I create a new Plex container and copied in my old Plex container files and folders then would this resolve the issue ? or is there a easier way to resolve this ? I also attached my log file from the container PlexLog.txt -
ok I got it to work in the end, after following the steps here I ended up reverting to a older version of Unraid. 6.9 - which then allows me to plug and play my Zigbee device and my VM Home Assistant saw it and configured it straight away NOTE: I had to recreate my Home Assistant VM and also some of my dockers like PLEX had to be created.

I have been trying to get this to work, but I am having issues, so far I have taken it out of the box, I have powered down my VM Home Assistant and added a USB extension cable and then plug it into a USB 2 or 3 ports then I when into my VM Config and choose the USB ConBee Device then I powered up my VM Home Assistant - once my HA was powerd up I when and click on my ZigBee device and got the following message and I waited for about 30 seconds and then I got this message I have google the error and it talks about up updating the firmware, but before I go down that route, I want to make sure that so far, I have done everything right. is there anything I have missed ?

I am about to purchase a Zigbee / zware use device for my Home Assistant VM machine. but reading the posts I have concerns. I just updated my unraid to 6.10 and I am up today with my Home Assistant. so before I go and purchase a USB device. "Conbee II or Aqara Smart Hub E1" I would like your views on them, as I my planning is to add Zigbee 3.0 Smart Radiator Valves to it, and then allow Home Assistant to control the Temperature in each of my rooms. I understand that at the moment there might be a problem with getting Home Assistant see the zigbee devices through the USB, but hopefully @danioj has found the solution.

I having a blonde moment that I am not able to get an external IP address to check that my VPN is working. as I have been having a lot of issues with my VPN ( PIA ) to whom it seems throttled torrent traffic. so I have been playing around with VPNS and spitting up my environment with VLANS and rules within my PFSENSE I think I have it all set up right, but when I go into a docker or in a terminal window and type in wget http://ipecho.net/plain -O - -q ; echo curl ifconfig.me/all all I am getting is a hanged command line. and when it fails. can someone please inform me of the right command so that I can check that I am getting the right IP. for my unraid and delugevpn docker.
-
that is right. I just did a test, but disabling my VPN on my PFSENSE, and then do a download within deluge - pulling down a Linux ISO and it come down @ 3mbs and my LAN was 100mbs. sorry but it might be my openVPN connection to PIA. to test this I will move my VPN back to deluge and retry UPDATE: I just did the same test, but with the VPN turn on within Deluge and I got the same results. I will have a word with PIA
-
Hi binhex - yes I am ware that I am running this without a VPN enable as I have move my VPN settings to my pfsense, as I wanted to protect a few diffferance VLANS, and I was having issues trying to get it, to go through your deluge. regarding the throttling, to my knowledge my ISP are not doing this, as as stated, that if I am not doing any downloading via the deluge then I have about 100mb connection, but as so as I download anything within deluge, when it drops down to 1mb.
-
I am having an issues with my deluge-VPN docker. it has been as stable as a rock for over 3 years with no issues, but of late I have see that evertime I am downloading something within the deluge docker, then my network traffic drops from a avg of 100mbs down to 1mb. and this only happens when I am downloading something my setup is that I have all my binhex traffic going through the deluge docker "Sonarr, Radar, Jacket" with a kill switch within my pfsense. any ideals on why this is happening ? I have attached my log file in the help that his might help you. and I look forward to hearing from you
-
SOLVED - the issue was my VPN, for some reason it waited a reboot. once I did this, the it started to allow the traffic from my downloader to pass through it. I am trying to force all my traffic through my binhex VPN, as I don't want people to see what I am doing, so I copied my settings from my other binhex dockers but for some reason it is still going through my normal router and no the VPN. so within my downloader2 I have modify my setting with the following and within my delugevpn, I have added the following ports but when I add a file to donwload, it finds it with no issuse, but when it starts to download it is finding my external IP address and not my VPN IP address. opps I forgot to add that my proxy is pointing to my unraid server IP address with a port of 8118 any ideals ?

I have been looking for a document for an example on how to do this. I would like to set up a custom schedule within User Scripts to run every 2 days @ midnight. can someone please point me to the documentation, so that I can set this up please

VM not starting after A Config reset
chris_netsmart replied to chris_netsmart's topic in VM Engine (KVM)
update, I have been able to get the Home Assistant to run, as I can able to ping the web services and connect to the HA, but I am still getting the errors with the VNC. -
I hope that you can help, I had to reset my array configuration, due to a HD issue My Post but now when I go and look and check my other serivices I see that my VM Home Assistant so I log back onto my unraid and saw that the VM was running but when I look at the logs I see the following ErrorWarningSystemArrayLogin -smp 1,sockets=1,dies=1,cores=1,threads=1 \ -uuid e80aa00d-1e2f-04e2-3e29-37fbce85cc68 \ -no-user-config \ -nodefaults \ -chardev socket,id=charmonitor,fd=31,server,nowait \ -mon chardev=charmonitor,id=monitor,mode=control \ -rtc base=utc,driftfix=slew \ -global kvm-pit.lost_tick_policy=delay \ -no-hpet \ -no-shutdown \ -boot strict=on \ -device pcie-root-port,port=0x10,chassis=1,id=pci.1,bus=pcie.0,multifunction=on,addr=0x2 \ -device pcie-root-port,port=0x11,chassis=2,id=pci.2,bus=pcie.0,addr=0x2.0x1 \ -device pcie-root-port,port=0x12,chassis=3,id=pci.3,bus=pcie.0,addr=0x2.0x2 \ -device pcie-root-port,port=0x13,chassis=4,id=pci.4,bus=pcie.0,addr=0x2.0x3 \ -device pcie-root-port,port=0x14,chassis=5,id=pci.5,bus=pcie.0,addr=0x2.0x4 \ -device ich9-usb-ehci1,id=usb,bus=pcie.0,addr=0x7.0x7 \ -device ich9-usb-uhci1,masterbus=usb.0,firstport=0,bus=pcie.0,multifunction=on,addr=0x7 \ -device ich9-usb-uhci2,masterbus=usb.0,firstport=2,bus=pcie.0,addr=0x7.0x1 \ -device ich9-usb-uhci3,masterbus=usb.0,firstport=4,bus=pcie.0,addr=0x7.0x2 \ -device virtio-serial-pci,id=virtio-serial0,bus=pci.2,addr=0x0 \ -blockdev '{"driver":"file","filename":"/mnt/disks/ua_appdata/VM Machines/HomeAss/haos_ova-6.2.qcow2","node-name":"libvirt-1-storage","cache":{"direct":false,"no-flush":false},"auto-read-only":true,"discard":"unmap"}' \ -blockdev '{"node-name":"libvirt-1-format","read-only":false,"cache":{"direct":false,"no-flush":false},"driver":"qcow2","file":"libvirt-1-storage","backing":null}' \ -device virtio-blk-pci,bus=pci.3,addr=0x0,drive=libvirt-1-format,id=virtio-disk2,bootindex=1,write-cache=on \ -netdev tap,fd=33,id=hostnet0 \ -device virtio-net,netdev=hostnet0,id=net0,mac=52:54:00:a2:a9:b8,bus=pci.1,addr=0x0 \ -chardev pty,id=charserial0 \ -device isa-serial,chardev=charserial0,id=serial0 \ -chardev socket,id=charchannel0,fd=34,server,nowait \ -device virtserialport,bus=virtio-serial0.0,nr=1,chardev=charchannel0,id=channel0,name=org.qemu.guest_agent.0 \ -device usb-tablet,id=input0,bus=usb.0,port=1 \ -vnc 0.0.0.0:0,websocket=5700 \ -k en-gb \ -device qxl-vga,id=video0,ram_size=67108864,vram_size=67108864,vram64_size_mb=0,vgamem_mb=16,max_outputs=1,bus=pcie.0,addr=0x1 \ -device virtio-balloon-pci,id=balloon0,bus=pci.4,addr=0x0 \ -sandbox on,obsolete=deny,elevateprivileges=deny,spawn=deny,resourcecontrol=deny \ -msg timestamp=on 2022-03-16 16:01:21.648+0000: Domain id=1 is tainted: high-privileges 2022-03-16 16:01:21.648+0000: Domain id=1 is tainted: host-cpu char device redirected to /dev/pts/0 (label charserial0) and then I click on the VNC Remote I am informed that I have no connect server. this I am confused as I didn't change anything in my VM settings. and plus my VM is store outside the disk Array on a unassigned disk. does anyone have any ideals on why this has happen ?

Device is missing (Disable) Contents Emulated
chris_netsmart replied to chris_netsmart's topic in General Support
No, as I emptied it all out, -
I have just been doing some house keeping and have just removed a old HD from my RAID, which I rarely used. taking the discs from 6 to 5 but now I am getting an error message that the Device is Missing (Disable ) Emulated. is there a way to reset this so that the system knows that I have removed the HD ?
